A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

You work on Saturdays?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Playbe that as it may, there is a sizable population out there who view the the word filler as a negative term. thus why one should be wary of applying it.
I actually go to work today in another hour...

XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!@story: i think that he means that he doesn't get up this early on days when he does work.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.@Seraphem: I think the problem is that bad filler has become the bane of a lot of stories that the word "filler" is now viewed so negatively. As a Rurouni Kenshin fan...I can definitely attest to this...

You know all those stores you shop at on the weekends? Yeah, people actually have to work there. I'd be at work now but the ice is so bad I can't get my truck out of my apartment complex.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.@story: No, I normally work weekdays, but I don't have to get up till eight. I was just complaining about having to get up even earlier on my day off.
I actually do work later today though, but that's not typical.
Dash, what are you doing. Stop staring at Daring's butt like that.
@dark: i figure that since her adventure wrapped up faster than she expected, she finished and released the book early.
@Powah: i loved that bit too.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.I kind of have to agree that this episode was So Okay, It's Average. I like the idea that Daring Do sells her stories under a pen name to make money, but she doesn't really get a proper introduction as a character—we're meant to assume that she is identical to her book version, when clearly that isn't true (and not just because her book version is a lot more exaggerated).
Also, prolly covered this already, but why did the main six just stand there during the entire initial fight scene?
"The only way to truly waste an idea is to shove it where it doesn't belong."I was kind of surprised the show got away with having a character's leg broken in a straight up hoof fight.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Watched the episode. All you people are wrong! Daring Do isn't real, she's a character in a cartoon show!
I liked how Twilight and Rainbow went into full lore-nerd mode for a moment going back and forth about events in the series.
A.K. Yearling might be Twilight's favorite author? What happened to Jade Singer? Besides different creative teams working separately on different time schedules from each other? :P
Speaking of the comics, I wonder how this episode will impact the upcoming Story Arc in the comics that's suppose to be about evil bookworms that bring fictional characters to life, and Daring Do's suppose to make an appearance in that arc...
You there! Check out my Youtube Channel! The power of Ponies compel you! That was absolutely hilarious, with some great meta-humor moments! (in the sense that Rainbow Dash and Twilight were both acting like real-life fans of book/TV series) I think my favorite part was Rainbow Dash and Twilight arguing over things from the books because that reminded me of some of the discussions on this very forum, particularly the power levels arguments. It made me laugh and get excited so much that I think I kind of scared Lily, who didn't know what those strange sounds meant! (Lily is the Shrinking Violet of my two Pomeranians and is easily startled by sudden noises, ironically, she often startles ME when she suddenly starts barking loudly at things that she hears because she's a lot like a dog version of me, personality-wise)
There is even a personal note to this story because of something that happened to me today, on the subject of things in stories becoming real. After I finished watching the episode, I went to check the mail, and found that a book had come in a package! It was something that was ordered in my name to be a Christmas present for my dad, so it wasn't an early copy of an adventure story like Rainbow Dash got in the show, but I thought it was a hilarious coincidence that Rainbow Dash got a book in the mail and then I got the same thing in real life.

@ Clever. mostly just that they were seeing something that they'd only seen in books before. It was like seeing a story coming to life, and since they were used to EXACTLY this being a story, they were also so used to just sitting there and watching it happen, it never dawned on them that "Hey this is real and I can help." There minds just filled in that this was just another of Daring Do's fights and it was awesome. Till Flutterhsy reminded them that, hey, we should help.
So every episode of the season so far have had at least some adventure to them. Think the next one will follow suit? It certainly sounds like a Slice of Life episode on paper but then so did this one...
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Well, I think the Other Characters page needs to be changed now that we know the events in the books actually happened and are not fictional.
Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987Scootaloo will go on an epic quest to learn how to fly, meet the legendary hero Firefly, and return home a wiser filly with or without the ability to fly and help her friends win the right to carry the Ponyville flag at the Equestria Games.

That would be an example of filler used badly. It doesn't make all filler bad.
Case in point: 90% of this show's episodes.
I liked the National Random Holiday bit.
