A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

All of the usual forum rules apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I don't know WHAT the Hell happened (I blame shenanigans) but we're going to start from scratch. Post your feels for this awesome show again! Naow!

I would love there to be a ponified version of Elvis.

He's hiding out with the Perfectly Normal Ponies

And in an alternate universe.

Humanized unicorns with a horn, while certainly obvious, never seemed aesthetically pleasing to me.

Oh, forget it. It's not wyrth the trouble.

I live surrounded by Quebecois who seem to be constitutionally incapable of pronouncing my name. It's pronounced Ee-An, but the most common pronunciation I hear is Yan, with an occasional eye-An. I feel your pain, Wryte. After a while you just stop caring whether or not people get your name right.

I just had a dream involving Fluttershy dying while attempting to do a "Sonic Shyboom", amongst other things. Then I was in a boat with her and a few other ponies and I tried to drive her off the edge of the world, but I threw Pinkie Pie off instead.

Keep in mind that was only part of the dream.

Yup, sounds like the kinds of dreams I have. I'm lucky if any of mine make a coherent series of steps from one event to another, let alone have anything to do with reality.

I think there was something pony like in my last dream, but it had more in common with Worm than anything.

@ Kegi: That's odd. I'd automatically pronounce Ian as "Ee-an", unless I got corrected. Don't know how someone would get "Yan" out of "Ian".

@Syd and Ed: It's a... slurring thing, almost. In all cases I've heard it, while Yan is the easiest way to describe the sound, in actual facti t sounds more like they're struggling with the distinction between the syllables. Like a... Yeean, almost.

It has to do with the way french is spoken, I think; they treat inflection and emphasis differently.

What's going on?

Reading the news, procrastinating on finishing my CS project. Then if I have time I'll probably start reading Worm again.

@Kegi: Something like 95% of everyone who tries to pronounce my last name without hearing it aloud first says it wrong. In fact, I had a math teacher in middle school who read it wrong every single day during attendance, and I corrected him every single day. It went on so long that one time when I gave up and didn't correct him, the entire class corrected him simultaneously instead.

So what is this bizarre, unpronounceable, almost certainly foreign name with which I'm burdened?

Willey. Pronounced "Will-ee."

Ah, yes... I've experienced that too, though oddly enough not since moving to montreal. You'd think "Sime" would read very clearly as, well... Sime, hard I silent e, but I used to hear 'Simmy' all the time.

Pronunciation. I dunno, man.
