A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Because that was badly written episode (like the rest of season 9).
Sandbar is probably the worst, though. He's just so bland. He's the Token Pony of the group, and not much else.
In terms of impression and memorability, I'd say it was Yona > Ocellus > everyone else >> Sandbar.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayThat's this one
(NSFW).
Don't think that was the one that post was referring to though, as this is clearly fan made.

Hope shines brightest in the darkest timesAm I the only one that still likes seasons 8-9? Sure they are among the weaker seasons and have their share of bad episodes (but it isn't as if seasons 1-7 are spotless either), but they can't be that bad. Like, at least there isn't outright Flanderization or derailment going on in the show's final seasons.
And they can't be as bad as the later seasons of other long runners like Simpsons, Family Guy, Sponge Bob, or Fairly Odd Parents.
I liked season 8 and 9 mostly. I hated the grogar twist and find cozy glow incredibly annoying but I liked the slice of life stuff, the reappearance of cheese, the student 6, garble becoming friendly (i had him predicted as smolders bro since molt down), and the songs were still really good.
see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532Well, Celestia is flanderized a bit near the end, with the specific goal of giving her a personality beyond "queen". This was done by taking her playful personality trait and expanding it to the point of overtaking the regal side to her character.
The curious thing is that they went for a very different tone with Luna, who got rather resentful and sarcastic near the end. There was definitely an undertone of "I didn't offer to resign, I was told to" to her character.
Hope shines brightest in the darkest timesIMO, the worst case of "main character suddenly gets an episode-long lobotomy for the sake of the plot" is the one where AJ suddenly becomes absurdly overprotective of Apple Bloom.
Then there's Spike, who is super-competent in a lot of non-focus episodes and utterly incompetent in all of his own focus episodes. But that happened repeatedly, not just a one-off problem.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayVery. Any idea what that plush was, Story?
I looked up the context of the original post, and sure enough, it was that one. In case you're curious, here's the relevant discussion before the POTW:
—-
Turtle, were you planning to start selling plushes, or just make some for yourself and your friends?
For the moment I am just making them for fun. If I get any good at it I may consider selling them.
Didn't Hasbro's legal department once go after plushie makers, or am I thinking of something else?
Just one, who had made a Fausticorn plush and sold it to Lauren herself, but she got into trouble for something else which I don't remember.
She was putting them up for auction, I believe, and they said "You can still make plushies, just don't sell them", I believe.
She was advertising them and selling a lot of them, IIRC. She's still allowed to make and sell them. She just has to keep thing low-key.
I still don't get how 4chan managed to sell something on Amazon without attracting attention.
Just because it's on Amazon doesn't necessarily mean it's got a lot of attention, I don't think.
I think they only went after that one plushie maker because she was making a LOT of plushies, and selling some of them for hundreds (the one Luna plushie went into the thousands I think...) If I ever sell mine I don't think I'm going to charge that much since I'm not that great at it.
I'm sure that Hasbro C&D'd the Lyra plushie with the "hole"
Assuming that they found out about it before it got sold.
I'm pretty sure the Lyra plushie was a one-off creation; nothing to C&D there.
I know the one artist I consult with on G+ that makes plushies has said she will never make a bananaholder plush.
I sure as heck wont either... they aren't made for that kind of love
I dont get on here much anymore... but when I do... I kill the thread
I've never heard "those" referred to as a "bananaholder plush." I'm using that term from now on.
And yeah, that Lyra was just a one-off some guy did to troll us.
There are people out there who will buy them though.... and worse... use them...
Didn't the creator say that he was trying to use No Such Thing As Bad Publicity?
I'm pretty sure there's no way Hasbro would want to call any attention to that particular plush. Better to just let it get sold and quietly move on.
Plus, I think it happened before Hasbro got active with the C&D stuff.
(after that, the thread moved on to other topics)
P.S. It's kind of interesting that I participated in that conversation but had absolutely no memory of it. But I guess that's probably true of most of the thread, given that I was one of the most active members, and it went for tens of thousands of pages over a decade ago.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayYeah, we had to wait until “Gauntlet of Fire” for the good Spike episode.
Come on! Let's bless them all until we get fershnickered!I don't if I'd call that ironic, the show was consistently much better at doing standalone episodes than longer-running story arcs.
"Inspiration Manifestation" was a bit odd in being both a Spike episode and a Rarity episode, but I'd agree that Spike had a good enough showing there.
I didn't really care for "Equestria Games", myself.

Funnily enough, cheer used to be a male sport way back when. It's one of those "pink is for girls" situations where gender associations have completely shifted and flipped around over time.
