A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

I haven't really talked about it here because it's extremely grimdark and the Conversion Bureau isn't something that's very popular around these parts (I did talk about previous iterations about it here though), but one of the biggest themes in the Deconstruction Crossover of the Conversion Bureau and Warhammer 40000 I've been writing is deconstructing the whole "Pastel Mare's Burden" and the pseudo-colonial mentality behind it. (I'm going to put it in a folder so you don't have to read it if you don't want to)
Equestria's appearance on an Imperial agri-world was accidental, (with an inpenetrable barrier impervious to human weapons) and the planet in question being a Crapsack World on the level of The Draka, Twilight decides to send out Spike, Lustre Dawn and the latter's friends on a mission to teach humans about the magic of friendship and Pony ways, which ends better than you'd think it end. Twilight goes into full Heroic BSoD mode and decides that if humans can't be taught friendship, they can be turned into a species that can.
Long story short, Conversion Bureaus open, the Imperium declares open war with Equestria, and Equestria is turned into a country of jaded fanatics who can do absolutely anything they want to humans simply because they're better than those friendship-less apes. (Not that newfoalsnote get off much better: they retain their free will and minds, but aren't considered "true Ponies" and form a class of oppressed cheap labour and conscripts in the war against the Imperium)

I have a couple of plushies, butI only bought one (a butteryellow) for my sister when she was still into the show. She bought me a Gamer "Sailor Moon" plushie (complete with gaming headset), I won a Twilicorn, and I won a Sweetie Belle (ironically bigger than Twiggles), both from convention game shows.
The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.I've got a basket full of plushies from a couple years ago, when my friends and I first started getting into the show.
My friend who some of you may remember as Viking once got a Princess Twilight tiara at a McDonalds on a lark. We were in another state helping a friend move.
On our way out of town, we passed by a group of teenagers walking the other way. My window was rolled down, and one of the kids took the opportunity to throw a lit cigarette through it. I hit the brakes and scrambled to find the cigarette and get it back out of the vehicle. When I looked up, she was gone.
When I had stopped, she took the opportunity to throw open the car door, leap out of the vehicle, chase this guy down, and pulverize him. If he'd been trying to look cool in front of his friends, it backfired; the kid was on the ground and his friends were fleeing. She returned to the vehicle and we drove home.
It was only after she returned to the vehicle that we both realized she was still wearing her Princess Twilight tiara. She beat this kid's ass as a Pretty Pony Princess.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I got a pack at a con of the small pony figures that had The Manes and The Princesses. Those are the size of the Blind Bag line-up.
And I bought a collection of kids books, each of which came with a different pony on a larger scale. The paint job could be better (Cadance doesn't come with gradients, and they got lazy on Zecora's stripe pattern), but the molds are really nice.
And a bunch of coloring books.
I wanted to buy a set of Equestria Girls Minis at the con, but I waited too long and Sunset and Fluttershy got sold, so I ended up not getting any.
I hate myself.
>_> I never got a plushy. Never been brave enough to advertise it.
RE: YMMV What, exactly, is the proper procedure for adding in YMMV entries? Because I've gotten the impression that YMMV pages are a bit untamed.
RE: Redmess Oh, you studied post-colonialism? Cool.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. On the topic of plush dolls, I have all 6 of the Mane 6 as well as Celestia, Luna, and Cadance as plush dolls, and I have many more of the brushable figures from multiple generations of MLP.
I recently had a thought about something shown in the season 9 finale (unrelated to the conversations about plush dolls or colonialism), but before I mention it, do I need to put it in spoiler tags, since there are still posters here who haven't seen the finale yet?

Okay, here's my thought about the finale:
Thinking about Rainbow Dash marrying Applejack made me wonder if one specific conflict they would have is that Rainbow Dash might want to get first dibs on the cider, potentially risking the sales from it. That could be a lesson for her, where she learns and realizes that being part of the Apple family now means that if the cider sells well, then she will also share in the rewards of that money. Thus, she has to choose between her eagerness to drink the cider herself versus possibly getting to use part of the money from the sales for something else she wants later. (and also the sense of pride and accomplishment since she'd likely participate in making and selling it, especially if she did a flying stunt show for the ponies who come to buy cider) I also thought that Rainbow Dash would also be a great mascot for their Zap Apple Jam!

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI mean, if you think about it, by marrying Applejack, RBD gets access to all the cider she wants. Only... y'know...
The powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.I think the being obsessed about cider thing is something she'd quickly grow out of. Especially after the first few times once it's no longer special or hard to get.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIIRC there's now an MLP tabletop game. I think it's about friendship but don't quote me on that.
Could be wrong.
Kinda going out on a limb with that one.

You got any design docs you could share with us?
By the way, watching "Gauntlet of Fire" right now and after the opening credits, Celestia and Luna are visiting Sparkles's castle so they can relax.
Hello, there. Glad to see you finally grace her abode with your presence. Did you know she had this thing before you came today?
Edit: "He [Garble] would have burned us to a crisp if you [Rarity]] weren't there." No, he would have burned you to a crisp if Sparkles didn't teleport you out of there.

It's a shame Sereg's forum RPG died.
