Rarity has been shown to link her light-shields into larger constructs before. She once interconnected many to make a dome, in Legend of Everfree constructed a chandelier by chaining many smaller shields.

Connecting many into a boat shape is within her capabilities.

BTW, the egregious editing error with the misplaced scene in this special is a particularly nasty example, because it happened IN ALL THE VERSIONS. I checked each individual language to see if the original footage could be recovered (wanted to splice the footage back). Nope. They f***ed them all up. Don't even understand how that's possible.

Hasbro has mismanaged the youtube side of the webseries pretty horribly so far, what with this, uploading one of the parts of Forgotten Friendship with a mono audiotrack, and just generally failing to keep up with any sort of schedule.

What is the egregious editing error? Stop keeping me in suspense!

During the scene where Ragamuffin meets the Rarity and the Rainbooms on the stage, a clip of a later scene where the yacht crew is handing flashlights during the emergency is shown while the audio continues to play normally. It's just a couple of seconds, and you don't miss anything important, but it's rather jarring.

Since Hasbro never fixed the messed up upload of Forgotten Friendship, it's unlikely they'll ever fix this either (which is an even worse mess up, as Forgotten Friendship had messed up audio only in the english version iirc, while this is a video error in all the versions released).

So on to Sunset Shimmer's Backstage Pass:

  • I thought the 3 eyes joke was pretty funny. Poor Fluttershy
  • The trick is to pick a line and stay in it. If you try to switch to another faster line, it will immediately slow down and the line you were in will speed up.
  • Rainbow Dash had her turn, so this time it's Pinkie's job to ruin everything
  • Based on the title, I'm assuming they find a way to get back in
  • That's an oddly specific wish. But where will she find a time machine?
  • And of course the wish is immediately granted. Akuma time here we come.
  • I wonder if this will be a groundhog day type thing. If they repeat enough times, Pinkie will be able to brute force the jar guessing game.
  • I assumed she'd pick the fast line this time, but instead the opposite happened. Surprised the butterfly effect started already with no obvious casual connection.
  • I was half expecting it to be a different face in the paint since the addition of Twilight presumably shifted their positions.
  • Hey, the moon is different this time!
  • Does RD think Sunset is into BDSM now?
  • Wait a moment, is the churro woman the same cook as on the boat cruise? I think they are!
  • It's obvious to the viewer that ending the loop involves making up with Pinkie somehow, but it would make sense that Sunset doesn't realize that in universe
  • How come Sunset never manages to dodge Rainbow's paddling despite going through it 18 times? She clearly remembers all the other stuff.

So that was that. Overall pretty good. I'm a bit puzzled about how Sunset Shimmer specifically was affected by the Time Twiddler since she wasn't the one using it, but whatever, it's clearly just a plot device.

"Not gonna let a little thing like intense pain ruin this perfect day." Intense pain? She barely touched you with that thing. You flinched slightly, and that was it. This dialogue does not match up with what we just saw.

I interpreted that as being sarcastic hyperbole.

Well his was the fourth post on the page, so he would have had to been 22x Ninja'd in order to miss it. Which isn't exactly likely with the anemic pace of the thread nowadays. Hitting the palindrome pages is easy mode now.

So which one did you like better, Spring Breakdown or Sunset's Backstage Pass?

Post of the Day #2615

I agree. I really wanna know what those two are like on their down time, or even if they lighten up around the princess every now and then.

I think I liked Backstage Pass more, but it's hard to decide.

I'm still wondering where they got the money for the boat though. Also, who is going to pay for wrecking the boat? Don't keep us in suspense!

Presumably, whoever owns the cruise ship will have insurance. Though even that is not very clear. There doesn't even seem to be a captain on this ship. Kids can just waltz straight into the bridge and engine room without so much as a peep from the crew.

It would have been an interesting twist if the passengers could not get off the ship because, you know, the main characters had taken the two life boats to go off on adventure. That would have made them look especially irresponsible. Luckily the sentient storm took care of THAT little problem, removing any culpability from the main characters.

I mean, they DID steal two life boats. During a STORM. What the hell, heroes?

Ever since Titanic, ships have had plenty of lifeboats. There's no way a ship with so many people like that would only have two lifeboats.

Yes, except that there seem to be only, like, two boat loads of people. And that cruise ship seems to shift size a few times. It's not clear how big it is supposed to be, or how many people there are supposed to be on board.

Part of the disconnect might also be due to the weirdly invisible crew. It's implied that there are staff, but they hardly show up besides the cook.

I think a lot of these problems would be solved if it had just been a rich kid's yacht or something.

Wait, so we're getting a two-part episode, and then another episode after that? How long is that other episode? Is it full length? Is it something else?

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be full length. Maybe the two-parter is the final adventure episode and the episode after that is the final slice of life episode?

Seems like a weird way to do it. Usually they end on the big epic adventure two parters.

Eh, a Dénouement Episode seems like a good way to send the series off. Considering how rushed those action two-parters usually are, a little more room to breathe may help provide a sense of closure.

There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.

I suppose if they plan it properly. Usually the slice of life episodes ignore major story changes, though that's been happening a lot less lately.

Some have speculated that the Big Mac episode could be the one where he marries Sugar Belle.
