A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Ah here we go. The LGBT episode. And the couple is already there in the background!
Skeedaddle! :D
See??? They're Scoot's AUNTS. Not parents.
Theme for the quilt? Welllll it IS rainbow-colored....
So hold on they're just there?? ... oh they're on holiday! That's why we haven't seen them before.
DERPY!
HER PARENTS?!!?
... wait. ... so this ep has both Scoot's aunts AAAAND parents!??! :O There's only so much I can take!
... ... wait. Her aunts don't have a role in this ep? ... So let me get this straight. All these online hype was for just one minute of screentime!?
WOAH! :O That's her father!? He's a straight up Steve Irwin! And her mom is just as adventurous! They're aaaaaawesome! They should get along with Fluttershy swimmingly.
Oh wait for the weekend?
Ooooooh Scootaloo's leaving. :(
"We been together since Season 1!"
Oooooh this is sad and funny at the same time. All those memories framed on the wall...
Dash will have none of this! She's been like ... like ... her big sister/aunt/mother!
I bet their new job will be revealed by the end. And it will be way too important for the CMC to change.
"But you DON'T have the same Cutie Mark." Wow. Didn't know his nickname was Truth Bomb.
Uuuuuuum d-don't ... do that. Don't use potions. You remember what happened last time.
... so they get themselves out of the rope bindings, and then in the next scene they chain themselves together anyway?
... the CMC going away all together? I suppose that's a good solution but it means they can't be in Ponyville.
I can't believe how great the backgrounds have become!
Ooh his aunts again! They DO have a role in this story.
If Derpy mailed it to her by accident, why didn't she return it later?
Yay we have a good argument!
Awww. :D Everyone's here.
CONTINUITY!
Silver Spoon waving at her! :D I can't take it.
Noooo it didn't change their mind??
Oh. They'll leave without her. Siiigh.
Lofty! :D :D Hahaha.
Awwww the aunts are gonna be in Ponyville too! Great!
This was a good episode! It helps that it was one I kinda wanted to see in an earlier season too.
I'll be honest, I was expecting like an epic goodbye to Scootalo and all, so I felt a little disappointed when she stayed (not because I don't like her, but because I thought the show was taking an important step by retiring a character that was always there since the beginning).
Still, scoots family is very cool.
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!""Scootaloo! Our darling daughter! I know we barely see each other and can only spend a few days together now and again, but I have great news! We can be a full-time family again!"
"Really? You're coming to stay here?"
"Nope! We're moving to get a new job in another continent, but you're coming along! Let's get packing, cause we're leaving the day after tomorrow!"
"But, but what about my friends? My home? I've never known anywhere else! I've been building a life here! I'm becoming an important member of my community! I can't just uproot my whole life and move away! What about my friends? I'm closer to them than to anybody else in the whole world! Being part of the CMC means everything to me!"
"Aw, don't worry! You'll make new friends when we get there!"
"Don't I get a say in this?"
"No?"
"Couldn't you at least have given me more than two measly days before dropping this bombshell on me?"
"Nope! Now get packing, Sri Lanka awaits!"
Moral of the day: pulling your kids halfway across the world for job-related reasons probably works a lot better when a) you spent any real amount of time with them beforehand instead of being largely absentee parents before deciding they need to stay with you on exactly the same occasion as you move permanently to another continent, and/or b) you give them a reasonable timeframe to properly come to grips with such a huge change in their lives.
Why would Scotaloo have to be retired? What would be the point of that?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Actually, quick question, does Scootaloo actually live in Ponyville? Not in Cloudsdale?
I ask because I have a vague memory of cloud architecture being a part of Scootaloo's home.

And there's that time when the CMC discussed how Scoots would get to Cloudsdale to do her report on Rainbow Dash's life, indicating she might have never visited the city in the sky.

This person
noticed something troubling related to this episode and "Parental Glideance" having Scootaloo say no one ever told her she was good at anything before.
@193683 Time to Move and The Moving Experience have a lot of examples where they don't end up moving after all or just move down the street.

The Protomen enhanced my life.So Scootaloo's aunts are practically a cameo. I'm not sure why everyone was making such a big deal about it.
Wait, Scootaloo has parents?!?!
This episode definitely feels odd, coming so late. It's like they came up with a bucket list for the final season of things they still needed to answer, and wanted to reassure everyone that, no, Scootaloo hasn't been living on the street for the last how every many years. But the fact that it comes so late is just weird.
It was also really strange hearing them say "CMC" instead of "Cutie Mark Crusaders" constantly in this episode. Have they ever said "CMC" before? It feels like the new writers are almost embarrassed to say "Cutie Mark Crusaders", but I can't imagine why. It just comes across as a bit surreal and self-conscious.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayOkay, I have seriously been hoping there was a lesbian couple in the show for a long time. Um...haven't we all?
It might not be Princess Bubblegum and Marceline, but I'm still so happy this happened.
This was the only cartoon of the 2010s WITHOUT gay characters in it!
Oh, and Scootaloo's parents appear. Awesome too.
There's also
◊ Star Flight
◊ and
◊ Heart Bright
◊ from G3. They're "as close as two ponies can be," go in for Sweetheart Sipping, share the same bed, dream the same dream, and finish each other's sentences.

The Protomen enhanced my life.I figured that "CMC" was just used over "Cutie Mark Crusaders" for the same reasons people use acronyms in real life (i.e. the way people just say FBI instead of saying Federal Bureau of Investigations longform). It's just quicker to say — "see emm cee" is a lot less of a mouthful than "Cutie Mark Crusaders", especially when you're using the term several times in causal conversation. Same reason for why people tend to give each other nicknames, too.

I doubt anyone is still paying attention at this point. Besides, MLP is hardly a trailblazer here. If they were going to get upset, it'd be about Adventure Time or Steven Universe or Korra or whatever.
Also, that POTD is surprisingly relevant.
