The leaked content suggest a more adventurous continuity (reading through it, it gave me the impression that they want to take it somewhat on the direction of most TF continuities, moving towards an older female demographic than the current show).
Of course, who knows what has changed since then (the documents were all in the very early planning stages at the time of the leak).

Choosing an older demographic would seem like a logical step. Small children growing up with the show would be in their early to late teens by now, and FIM has abundantly proven that this pony show is perfectly capable of reaching an older audience.
Maybe we'll have pony sitcoms in another 10 years.
Optimism is a duty.Just as long as going for the teen demographic doesn't mean de-aging the cast into teens.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayPerhaps something not unlike in tone to the newest She-Ra?
I would not mind them taking a page or two from She-Ra at all.
Optimism is a duty. That’s a show that isn’t shy about aiming for a female demographic and yet still have broader appeal built in as well, I think. At least, that’s what it seems to be aiming for, I couldn’t tell you if it was successful.
It is also aiming for an LGBT demographic, though it is VERY debatable how succesful it is in that regard (I personally think the LGBT community is too easily pleased with representational scraps lately, and it's high time they raise the bar a bit).
Optimism is a duty.On G1, "Dream Valley" was just a portion of Ponyland from what I've seen. i've always just called the entire country "Dream Valley" because it sounds much better. I wish G5 would use that name for a major area. Character wise, the ponies underwent an Anthropomorphic Shift over time. Contrast the early years where ponies lived in barns and licked each other over later years where they slept in beds and had walkmans.
G3 had a lot of areas but it was very segregated. There's no reason given for this (I think. I vaguely recall a G3 toy box mentioning something suspicious but I can't remember which was it). G3 was very anthropomorphic with no regard to whether it made sense or not. Hence ponies using hooves as hands, somehow.
Worldbuilding in previous generations was pretty hit-and-miss. Heck, world-building in G4 is an afterthought. G1 exists in a world full of talking ponies, trolls, witches, and other magical stuff. Humans existed in another dimension of sorts that Firefly could visit thanks to her speed. G3 dialed this all back a bit but it still had dragons.
From the old fan-works I've read, most fans preferred to write ponies as being in a quasi-Civilized Animal tribal society of sparse kingdoms. They're anthropomorphic but still deal with predators and act like ponies. I like that idea but Hasbro wouldn't go with it. They toyed with it early on but shifted away from it. G5 sounds like it'll take after G4: they're ponies but also have a lot of anthropomorphic qualities and live in an advanced society.
None of the previous generations had any tie-in or continuity with each other or shared the same universe. SO I expect G5 to be the same.
Sharing the same continuity goes against the idea of a new generation, doesn't it? We've had enough of Equestria so moving to a new 'verse is for the better.
I wish they would go with new characters in that case, instead of recycling old ones.
Optimism is a duty.True. New generations always came with new ponies but they seem really set on the Mane Six right now.
I still think there's a lot of untapped potential in spinoff series starring a) Starlight Glimmer's Legion of Doom and b) the Student Six. The idea of just moving on to a new generation feels to me like going, "Ehhh, I've been writing X-Men for too long. I really want to write this Spider-Man idea I have kicking around. Guess I'd better tie off X-Men, end their universe forever, and never let anyone write another X-Men story again."
Like. I understand the desire to move in a different direction after nine years of Friendship is Magic. But I feel like there are a lot of different directions already present in the show that could be taken advantage of, rather than just rebooting it all from scratch.
Like. I know that this is what MLP and Transformers and G.I. Joe and their ilk do all the time. The show reaches the end of its cycle so we just shove it in a dumpster, light it on fire, never speak of it again, and make a new show that's the same show but different. I know that's how they do. I get that.
But. Like. That sucks and I hate it.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayAm I misremembering or didn't Transformers Animated take place in the same universe as G1?
Kaze ni Nare!I would like to see new ponies as the M Cs. But the only name I hope they bring back is Minty.
Beast Wars took place in the same universe as the OG Transformer cartoon. Time travel was involved.
Indeed, the only series that is based of G1 is Beast Wars and gets away with changing a lot due to massive timedrift.
All other TF continuities are their own. Sometimes even suplementary material for an ongoing continuity gets hit with the alternate universe stick (most notably EVERYTHING tied to the Bayverse had to get the multiverse treatment).
MLP G4 COULD continue via the comics like Transformers G1 did for quite a while, but many doubt the comic has many years left (sales are declining, truth is the fandom and the writing staff never were on the same page).
I wonder if Discovery Family will do a marathon of all the episodes (and the movie) leading up to the final season. They did it for season 7 (showing all the episodes from seasons 1-6 in order everyday) but there might not be enough time in the schedule to do that now.
I don't see how they would fit that in their schedule, either. That would be about 200 episodes worth of material, at 30 mins each (including commercial time), so about 100 hours of air time.
Optimism is a duty.If they could convince DF to let them air MLP in prime time and during the Graveyard shift as well as during the morning and afternoon (ie, running the show for a full 24 hours), you could probably get through all the episodes in 5 days, but that probably wont happen.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlaySince I've been watching RWBY lately, here's an adorable ponified picture of it's main cast.
So, going back into the forum and reading words of old, I've found that the old Elements-those reflected by the Pillars of Equestria- were the elements of:
Strength.
Healing.
Hope.
Beauty.
Bravery.
Sorcery.
Wait, what? Beauty? How is that an Element?
Our Elements of Harmony reflected personality traits: Kindness, Generosity, Laughter and such, with the last Element, Magic, being what happens when every element but the aforementioned Element of Magic have been realized. All of these elements reflect virtues.
But what the bugger is this Element of Beauty nonsense? Being attractive is not a personality trait!
Yes, you can say that Healing is not a virtue, but it is benevolent, being about helping another person and curing them. It is not a virtue but it is virtuous.
However, Beauty is not virtuous! It may be a nice thing to have but it's not actually a sign of integrity or benevolence! It has nothing to do with virtue! Go be around Cersi Lannister for a month or two!
So...why? Is it because it's meant to be reflected by Rarity, regardless of it actually being reasonable or not for it to be an Element?
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.
Perhaps that is a rather loaded trope to use. What I mean is more high stakes adventure stories like the early show, and like what was originally intended for FIM.
