I watched some Teen Titans Go over the summer (along with some of my first few full episodes of Steven Universe) and I thought it was pretty funny.

People that have an ally back there trying to buy you time to escape, but still need your ship to get off the place safely.

I had no idea what Shadow was going to do. For all I knew he was already lost forever or was going to come back no matter what I did. He did say that he would find his own way after all.

Also, if that was supposed to be buying time, then he really sucks at it.

Or, ones the guess they wouldn't give you an option like that, unless there was a reason to take the option you don't think you should

The thing is that there is ALWAYS an option like that whenever you're about to go somewhere irreversible. Lethe River, Baren Falls, Serpent Trench, the ship to South Figaro, and so on. You say no if you want to explore the current area some more. But in the case of the escape sequence, it was obviously a linear path with nothing to do or get so there was no reason to stick around.

I think you have a bit of a hindsight bias here.

I like to think that some small percentage of pegasi have an over-active roosting instinct. As a result, those pegasi can't fall asleep if they're too close to the ground, hence sleeping in cloud houses or trees.

I didn't write any of that.

Ugh, I really hate Teen Titans Go. The humor is awful and obnoxious. It's a parody sure, but it's a shitty parody ala Seltzerburg. The characters arn't even remotely funny. It really is just Johnny Test but with Teen Titans characters. This is coming from someone who loves parody when it's done correctly.

Probably because it's way cheaper to put a cloud house together rather than pay somebody to build one out of regular stuff.

Yeah, but who in their right mind would choose wait? I said it was unintuitive.

I think it was intentionally programmed at least somewhat unintuitively. If you hesitate even once, the "Wait" option becomes "Got to wait for Shadow...", which pretty much spells it out. Of course, you have to hesitate for that and the game plays a bit dirty in that Shadow waits until the timer is nearly expired before showing up, so it's easy to get jumpy and... well, jump.

@Kyler: That video is perfect!

In short, I believe that the second one starts or enters an argument, they've already lost. Not because one chose the right or wrong side, but because they chose a side at all, most likely without researching the full picture first.

And I've seen a SHIT TON of people who don't do their research before arguing.

(I'm a neutral who looks into everything, but never sides with anyone)

Anyways, I'm back from work, how's the pone?

@ Cloud Buildings

I don't think those are supposed to be racist. It's likely that clouds are cheaper to build with and the space is pretty much infinite to build on. Besides, if a non-pegasus wants to visit, there are cloudwalking spells available for use.

Post of the Day #1246

There's certainly potential for Woolseyisms in this dub because of its maybe-coincidental similarity to anime.

Let's figure out what kind of Japanese Pronouns and other speech patterns everypony can use, starting with the mane cast (using info from This Very Wiki):

Twilight: Watashi, Standard Tokyo Dialect Applejack: Uchi, Kansai Dialect Pinkie: Atai, Standard Dialect, may have a Verbal Tic to make her sound cuter Rainbow Dash: Boku or Ore, speaks like a shonen hero. Rarity: Watakushi, (don't know if there are any "classy" sounding Japanese dialects) Fluttershy: Watashi, Uses Keigo with everypony, including her friends.

Unless Equestria Girls is treated as a separate license, there could be the weird situation where EQG gets dubbing and the main series does not. Supposedly EQG has a good amount of Japanese fans. Helps there's a lot more magical girl influence.

Final Fantasy 6: Apparently, you can keep Shadow by not jumping off the crumbling contient while the timer counts down. Which is pretty unintuitive, since the there's no real indication that something will happen that way. In fact, I distinctly remember Shadow saying that he'd find his own way back. It's a bit reminiscent of Cave Story, though I suppose it's not quite as bad because you can at least click wait on accident here, whereas Cave Story requires you to do a whole chain of unintuitive stuff and the initial jump over the canynon is pretty difficult to pull off.

Anyway, with Shadow dead for good this time, I guess I could try a euology. When I first met him, he said that death follows him at every turn, and in the end, it finally caught up to him.

It's kind of hard to feel sorry for him, because I'm not really sure what he was trying to do in the first place. It looks like he was trying to crush Kefka by pushing one of the weeping angles onto his body. I'm not really sure what that was supposed to accomplish. He should have just joined the party.

Shadow comes across as a sort of dorky kid who bought a beam katana on the internet and decided to call himself an assassin and then tags along with the real fighters sometimes acting all cool and dark and mysterious. It's like, hey, I just saved you from a bunch of flames, but not because I like you or anything. I was just in the area and I'm obviously too cool to display emotions. Or, sure I might deign to follow you around for a little while, but only if you pay me.

Apparently Shadow is Relm's father too, which isn't very surprising considering that he's the only other one who can equip her Memento Ring. But you'd think he would have said something. I brought Relm to the floating continent. So they were together for at least a couple battles before getting KO'ed.

Maybe Shadow and Relm still aren't talking due to an argument about her refusal to draw fanart of his Naruto self insert.

P.S. I was going to question why Gestahl didn't just shank Kefka instead of continually trying magic, but I suppose if Leo couldn't kill Kefka either, Gestahl never stood a chance.

Anyway, where I last left off, Celes was stuck in Solitary.

Cid isn't much of a conversationalist.

Without much else to do, Celes gives in and reads the letter.

Oh, another one of those secret passages, hidden by the 2d nature of the game's graphics.

There's this one random black pixel on the south edge of the new island, and it really bothers me.

This island has real fights, unlike Solitary.

Tzen. As soon as I go up the stairs, the whole place starts shaking.

Celes stays at the inn. The innkeeper tells her to save "that child in the house" without specifying what she's talking about.

Shadow no longer appears in the shop interface. So I've got 10 characters.

The shops are selling better armor now. I can even buy golden shields.

It's hard to talk to all the NP Cs when they're running around like headless chocobos. And they won't tell me what's going on either.

Apparently I'll need petrification protectoin.

Looks like Sabin's holding up the fort. Well that was a fast reunion.

The timer starts once I talk to Sabin. Which is odd, but at least it's fair. Starting the timer as soon as I enter the city and have no idea what's going on would be a dick move, even if it's more realistic.

Time's up! And I hadn't even gotten around to looting the bottom half of the basement yet!

Well now I know that two of the chests are monsters in a box and can be skipped. Also, since waiting in battle takes a lot of time, I think I'll try replacing the sprint shoes with hermes sandals.

Made it with a 1:13 left, despite looting every nonmonster chest. The Hermes sandals make a huge difference I think. That and I knew where to go this time.

It is convienent how the very first two characters I get are my two strongest.

Aww man, the innkeeper won't provide free healing any more. Oh well, guess Celes needs to sleep anyway.

I don't get why everyone makes a big deal about Kefka poisoning Doma. That's barely even in the top 5 worst things he's done.

I'm guessing that giant thing in the middle of the island is Kefka's tower? For some reason, I can't enter it.

It occured to me that noone ever did anything about the original esper Valigammara. I wonder if that was supposed to be the empty slot in my last row of espers?

"Kefka's practically a god now." <— Meh, I could take him.

Bought 99 sleeping bags because I could. Well 85, since I already had some.

A young martial artist visited Albrook recently. I wonder who he could be talking about? The obvious answer is Sabin, since of course Sabin would have the same look as Sabin. Maybe the line is meant for if you visit Albrook before Tzen?

There's a ship in Albrook port but it's still empty.

I'm not sure how the Gigas Glove compares to the Hyper Wrist, but I bought one just in case it proves useful at some point.

The bartender reminisces for a bit.

A man came through here recently asking for someone who meets Celes's description. He went to Tzen. Obviously it must have been Setzer, still looking for the real Maria. I'm guessing this is another line meant for if you visit Albrook first.

Leaf Bunnies? WTF?

Found Nikeah.

Bought a magic enhancing sword. But Sabin can't use it. :(

The Crimson Robbers? Sounds like a good name for a sports team.

There's some sort of blue thing surrounded by a ring of mountains. Guess I'll have to get there later.

Going north instead of east first turned out to be a wise choice, because from Nikeah, I can take a chocobo all the way to Mobilz.

Kind of a desolate place now. Someone was thoughtful enough to stash an elixer in the post office's clock though.

Wow, Terra sure has a lot of children now.

On the one hand, Terra is the only thing holding this village together. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I need her to advance the plot.

Fira doesn't od any damage to Humbaba.

Nor does Drain.

Nor does physical attacking. Guess this is a Hopeless Boss Fight.

Luckily Sabin and Celes can fight it normally. It was probably just Humbaba sapping Terra's will to fight.

Guess Terra's not joining after all.

Obtained Fenrir magicite. And it's on the next row. So there's definitely an esper I missed somewhere. It goes between Golem and Seraph.

Well now what? Guess I can try going back to Nikeah again.

I just realized that Gerad is an anagram of Edgar.

Well Gerad won't talk to me, and I have no idea what else I can do. So I guess I'll stop for now.

Shadow

I think he meant finding his own way back to the airship, not to the ground. >.> Anyway, he is a bit of a weird case in that his backstory stuff can only really be revealed after the point where he can die and it takes a lot of effort to unlock the dream sequences that reveal it. It's a legitimately tragic past. Shame the whole character arc is highly unbalanced such that it's so hidden. The funny thing is that you were really close to accidentally getting it. As in, five seconds and accidentally hitting "Wait" close.

P.S. I was going to question why Gestahl...

Kefka's mostly ucky he had the statues to hide behind. If he hadn't, the level of spells Gestahl was casually tossing around would have turned him into barbecue.

I don't get why everyone makes a big deal about Kefka poisoning Doma. That's barely even in the top 5 worst things he's done.

It's one of his character-defining moments (along with trying to roast Figaro) at a point where the player hasn't gotten to see much of him, so it sticks. Sure, he goes on to keep doing progressively more terrible things, but by then, it's expected of him.

It occured to me that noone ever did anything about the original esper Valigammara. I wonder if that was supposed to be the empty slot in my last row of espers?

There's going to be at least one, maybe two (can't quite remember) blank spaces open at the very bottom of the list, even if you collect every Esper. It's the game's way of letting you manually unequip a character of Espers.

"Kefka's practically a god now." <— Meh, I could take him.

Don't be so sure about that. tongue

Yeah, this is still a really weird line, regardless, because it's saying that Celes looks like Sabin (at least, that's how the SNES wording makes it sound). >.>
