Starting up the next episode, Rarinvestigates. Wait, wasn't the last one also a Rarity episode?

Rarity, I hate to tell you this since I assume you know much, much more about clothes than I do, but only one of those is a gown. One looks like a suit. The other's a trench coat.

There's one particular filly that I highly doubt she could do that to.

I'm noticing that this dude that RD's fangirling over is pretty much the exact same shade of blue as she is.

"Retirement" is practically a forbidden word in these sorts of contexts. If this weren't My Little Pony, I'd start assuming this dude would be dead before the break.

Rarity keeps costume cases stashed around Equestria, just in case of costume emergencies.

This may just be me, but Rarity saying "absolutely divine" is starting to become a pet peeve. It feels overused as a term.

Why exactly do ponies need sunblock?

Hello, Mrs. Fire. I thought you were sick. Wait a minute...

You know, as far as plans for getting someone out of the way go, sending them a fake note that their mother is sick is kind of weak. You'd think Spitfire would realize her mother's not actually sick and still be back in time for the show.

They've run into this situation before? Also, a permanent ban seems like a bit much.

And Rarity's just like, "Awesome! I've always wanted an excuse to dress like a private eye!"

I assume Spitfire is actually missing. Because even by the standards of My Little Pony, "The Case of the Fake Sick Letter" is a bit weak for everyone to be acting so serious.

Rarity's got her priorities in order. That said, I'm loving everything about this scene.

Rarity asks the important questions. The makeup of that cake could make or break this case. Also, looks like Rarity's Inner Monologue isn't so inner.

Love the random trumpet-playing pony. He's even got a straight mute so his instrument would actually sound like that.

Her hair naturally grows in a full rainbow. I would have believed it.

I don't quite know why, but this line has caused me to laugh for the past several minutes. Rarity's evidence is ironclad.

Wait, so Rarity was completely bluffing right up until she undid his ascot? That's some Phoenix Wright detective work right there.

Rider, you had to expect this if you got found out. If the penalty for RD was going to be a permanent ban, they weren't going to just give you a slap on the wrist (hoof?). They're probably going to void your record, too.

Ooh, different closing credits music. It's been a while.

This episode really picked up once Rarity started cosplaying. It was just so fun watching her play at being detective, do things during investigation that are both completely in-character and completely counterproductive to actually investigating, then turn that around and somehow show that no really, she knew what she was doing the whole time. It was great.

Tbh, I was starting to suspect RD towards the end due to expecting an asspull of a twist for the sake of having a twist.

Now that they already did an episode that paired up RD and Rarity, I now what an episode that pairs up Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie prominently. We already got Asleigh Ball talking to herself, why not Andrea Libman?

I wonder what a Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie episode would be about. That would be an interesting pair. Also, more episodes with voice actresses talking to themselves is always good. We need another RD and Applejack episode for that reason.

Final Fantasy 6: Previously on Story plays FF 6:

Sabin: Hey Terra, Terra, did you see that? You killed 50 imperial soldiers, right? I lost count, but I'm pretty sure I just beat your record! Terra: *angsts amnesiacally*

In Narshe they say, Sabin's level grew three sizes that day.

Seeing as Kefka told his soldiers to kill everyone in their way and the actual battle took place on the cliffs to the north of Narshe, I'm assuming that everyone in Narshe is now dead.

Shower thought: Is Rising Pheonix the opposite of Pheonix Down? I literally thought about that in the shower last night.

P.S. Since there was a dog in Mobilz, I'm assuming that Shadow is hiding there even though I couldn't see him anywhere in the town.

Terra meeting the esper would have been a good cue for Unleash the Magic. Except that everyone would be telling her not to do it, so it's the opposite, I guess.

Anyway, where we last left off, I had to pick a party to send off to the west to do whatever next comes in the plot. Decisions, decisions. Who am I kidding, it's obviously going to be Mr. Firey Death Tank and Ms. Lightning Rod.

I hope this doesn't result in Sabin becoming even more extremely overleveled, but it probably will. Just like in Pokemon, how if you play the game normally wihtout any sort of strategy, you always end up wiht one ridiculously overleveld pokemon and no other pokemon who can meaningfully fight. Currently, Sabin is level 18 while the next highest is Cyan at 15 and the lowest are Locke and Gua at 12. Terra and Banon were 11 and 9 respectively, but they left the party.

Apparently, Terra was nice enough to leave her earrings behind when she flew off. They're pretty much useless though.

Sabin swaps out his mythrl glove for a peace ring. Seems more useful, since getting angry severly hurts our damage output. Celes is going to put on the spare sprint shoes. Shame I can't grab one of the people left behind, but I was smart enough to buy a spare.

Hey, I can finalyl explore Narshe for the first time since the Prologue!

There's only one chest in this room that I can't open. Even hte NPC can't open it. Smells like a mini plot hook.

Sabin: Hey look, an armor shop! I wonder if they have bucklers. Celes: Ok, no way are you going into a shop alone. Let me handle this.

Somehow everyone in Narshe survived. I guess Kefka decided to go around the city or something.

Interesting, a house with apparently nothing of significance inside it. Empty Room Psych?

I bought a Chain Flail because the shop interface claimed it was an upgrade for Celes. But looking at it in the inventory, it doesn't have the Runic: Ok line. I guess I should stick with the Rune Blade?

Apparently, Kefka stashed an Elixir in the Elder's clock on his way.

Valigamarra's still in the iceberg. Doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it.

Celes appears to lose MP whenever she physical attacks. Must be the Rune Blade.

Well I guess that's it for today. Not really sure what I'm supposed to be doing here.

I keep hoping AJ and Rainbow will get a song together (not counting count their bits in ensemble songs). Rebecca Shoichet got to do a self-duet, so it seems fair and is not at all affected by my inner Appledash shipper.

A Pinkie and Fluttershy episode would be... interesting. They could definitely get some interesting interactions out of Fluttershy learning how to deal with her.

Story: The first assault probably taught all the citizens to hide really well when the Imperials are around.

As for party members getting underpowered, well, the game's pretty lenient, as I said before and I think there's a few spots where the game adjusts the levels of underleveled party members who have been absent for a while (tuning them to be closer to the pre-adjustment party average).

Yeah, I think the Runic Blade sacrifices MP to raise crit chance. What you could do is use the flail for random battles and then put a sword back on for boss battles (keeping in mind that Runic is often pretty niche, even within the boss battle subset).

@JT: I want to see them imitate each other. Andrea doing Andrea.

That'd be cool. And while we're at it, we could have RD try to imitate AJ's country accent and see what happens.
