A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

Yeah, I think they've just grown more subtle because their flaws aren't as blatant as they were at first.
Reaction Image RepositoryThere are some people who, while I disagree with, I can understand where they're coming from. And then there are people who remind me of this.
Rainbow was definitely more of an ass, oh er, no offense, and a bit unsympathetic to me. A bit funnier perhaps though.
The CMC for me have had some of the most visible changes. From half their lines being cutiemarkscutiemarkscutiemarks to diversifying a bit and hanging out of more genuine friendship. I like to think although they had good hearts and were far from disliking each other, their common goal of finding CM's didn't automatically make them best friends, and was at first a bit shallow.
The foalsitting mess with Shy was their first step towards growing together. The Show Stoppers took that further and by Hearts and Hooves Day they've fully incorporated their ideas and skills as a team rather than just throwing things at a wall to see what sticks.
And when I finally finish Shadow of the Colossus, I will be your overlord! Muwahahahaaaa!

Listen. Beating old video games is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical display of gaming prowess. You can't expect to wield supreme power just 'cause you beat a decade old game!
@dark: Agreed. Post season 1 CMC are much more interesting. Granted I never minded their cutie mark obsession as much as a lot of people seem to have, but I agree that it would have gotten old if it continued much longer.

@Dark: Yeah, the CMC were kinda one note in the first season.
Help, help! I'm being repressed!
And also going to bed.
I agree about the CMC. They use to be my most hated characters in the entire show. Slowly but surely though, Seasons 2 and 4 redeemed them for me {Not so much Season 3, outside of Scootaloo for Sleepless In Ponyvile}. They aren't anywhere near close to my favorite characters {Aside from Sweetie Belle being my favorite CMC due to her cuteness and interactions with Rarity}, but they are a lot more interesting and far less annoying and bland then they use to be.
It's pretty clear that cutie marks are not a great basis for good characterization. I do like what they've done with the Crusaders.

Sorry to hear you feel that way, Dark. But I guess this time of year isn't great for everyone... still, I hope you manage to feel better regardless.
A Merry Christmas to all! I got mostly practical stuff - a tea kettle, dish drying mat, gift cards for food and books and movies and the like(I still have the book gift cards from last year... I should just take them both and buy the rest of Wheel Of Time. I'll get to them... eventually). The one big 'fun' gift was Persona Q Shadow Of The Labyrinth, which I'm excited to play when I get home. Don'ts have my DS with me.
And tomorrow, it'll be off to family's house for the big dinner, which'll be nice. I at least talk to my parents regularly, but most of the family I only see the once a year.
This is why AJ is 'best background pony'. She already started pretty fleshed out and lacking in significant, obvious flaws.
