A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

@Corvus: People were spamming Winter Wrap Up over the mic on the Team Fortress 2 server I used to regular. I liked the sound, and checked out the clip on Youtube. I liked what I saw, and decided to at least watch the first episode.
7 minutes and 27 seconds later, I was a brony.
I was actually rather upset with it, and just more or less stopped being an active fan for a while.

@Corvus: The first episode from this show which I ever watched (which some of you should know already) was Pinkie Pride. From that episode alone, I really liked what I saw and watched 3 other eppies chosen by random just to get a full opinion on the show (Hurricane Fluttershy, Lesson Zero and Party of One). From there, I decided to binge on the show and... well... most of you know the rest of the story.

boop I'm more active on hereOver A Barrel in my case. That was the first episode I watched. It took me a couple more before I really got hooked though.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI just saw it around and figured that if so many people were watching it, it must be worth looking into. So I started binging it on Youtube.
Reaction Image RepositoryMore or less the same (I was already intrigued after reading about the Pony POV Series and The Immortal Game on this very wiki), but I actually started with the comics.
Seeing issue #1 right there on the shelf felt like a sign. But after that I more or less went from the beginning of the show.
"Bridle Gossip" was the single episode that made me a legit fan, though. Specifically this scene:
So. Turns out I have a bit of a black thumb. My grandmom asked me to take care of her plants while she's gone, and right now they're looking kind of dead.
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is a good game.
I've been playing the Masquerade on Sundays for the last few months. Yesterday we got TPKed after we ganged up to murder one of our party members with ghouled dogs and a block of concrete, so our primogen slaughtered us all. We put up a good fight, though. One of us managed to diablorize (sp?) his mate, and another came damn close to diablorizing him, and we managed to kill both his body guards and personal assassins.
Well, I say "we." I died pretty much instantly because I'd put all my character's focus into mental stats and knowledges instead of combat abilities. And yes, I was playing the only black guy. :P
Isn't Masquarade one of those RPG's that encourages their players to avoid combat at all times?
Not my thing, really. I enjoy a good roleplay as much as the next guy, and I'll always be the first to suggest diplomacy, but having to pull out the kid-gloves for each and every issue makes me antsy. Sometimes, I just feel like rolling dice and killing orcs.

I already liked oldschool pony, but gave it up when I grew up, thinking it was stupid. Then FIM happened, was reluctant but watched, and then the usual binge. Plus it got me to go back and see the older shows, reminding me why I liked the franchise to begin with.
edit: Confirmation that season 5 starts somewhere next spring.

@Dark Ooh. Shame it's not earlier but yeah.
And it amuses me that there's still a serious voice when talking about the toyset for some reason. Especially the phrase 'Twilight Sparkle fun.'

"life is just a series of increasingly canon-eluding ao3 tags" ~ everydunsparce "Keep your hellfruit away from me, tempter" ~ also EveryWe just finished our D&D campaign. We slew Tiamat, evil dragon goddess of wealth, greed and envy, and my Halfling Paladin became a god himself and took over her domain. Of course, being a good-aligned paladin, we had to put a good spin on the whole "greed and envy" thing. So I decided to become the god of "gaining fortune through bold deeds" AKA "Adventuring" AKA "Slaying evil and taking its stuff."
'Twas a fun campaign, but now it's my turn to become the dungeon master. I plan on running a campaign based on Classic History, with the mighty Gnoman Empire at the centre of the world. Yes, I saw that pun somewhere, and thought it worthy of an entire campaign. Don't you dare laugh, or I'll send the emperor's gnommandos after you.
So far, campaign building is going swell, if a little slow due to my aversion to actually committing things to paper. Unfortunately, one of my players wants to bring in a friend of his. No problem at all, since we only had three players and could definitely use one or two more. This guy, though, we haven't had any direct contact whatsoever, yet I highly suspect that this guy is a rather typical Prima Donna, and has already decided that his character is the main character.
For example, his first suggestion for a character was, and I kid you not, a chaotic good dual wielding female Drow. Which already made a career out of assassinating over a hundred high-ranked politicians at level one. And she has a personal quest that involves a family kept hostage by a demon lord that has to be resolved within a year game-time, at which point I wondered just who the heck here is supposed to be the DM.
A little back-and-forth later, I finally managed to get him to tone the whole thing down a little. I'm still planning a little revenge when the time for his personal plot comes around, though, because so far, that guy has done nothing but annoy everyone including the friend that brought him in.
Just a little, though. Just turning his backstory on its head a little. It should still be fun to roleplay for everyone involved. I just hope that, as soon as we are all at the table this minor rub will soon be forgotten.
But he better remember just who exactly is supposed to be DM here.

Warning: Ear Worm
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!I thought the Drizzt clones were just a bad joke. It's really that bad?
They are just a bad joke. In fact, it's quite possible that he doesn't actually know anything about Drizzt. He probably just saw the picture of him in the 5e Player's Handbook and thought it was a cool idea.
Of course, the fact that he wants to play a chaotic good drow still gives me "prima donna" vibes, but at least he's now playing a high elf instead.
Well, at least you can have some fun taking him down a peg.
Spring, huh? Well, it's a bit of a wait, but at least it's news.

True. Man, that was more than a year and a half ago, but I remember the drama like it was yesterday.
