A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.
All of the usual forum rules
apply. In addition, please remember that the thread is discussing a kids' show, and it's primarily focused on the work itself, not the fanfic — in particular, we don't want to see lewdness creeping in.

To be technical, "Spike at Your Service" didn't indicate that RD wrote fanfic, just that she wrote a story with a blatant self-insert.
Reaction Image RepositoryWell, let's see. While I was gone, I got my temp jobs with the state from last year back. It's good to be working there again, I guess. But here's the thing... Last year, we had one person leave the job after a month because they got a job at another agency. This year, it hasn't even been a month yet, and two people will be leaving. Out of six people hired, that's a significant amount, and the rest of us will have to pick up more hours to compensate. I'm already working two jobs, so that's going to be a challenge.
But what really bugs me is that one of the people leaving is transferring to another position at this agency, a permanent position. I'm rather jealous, to be honest. I've worked here before, and I'm not sure if she ever even worked for a state agency before. So how did she get a permanent position and I'm in the same state I was last year?
http://h0useb0und.tumblr.com/Perhaps she has a skill set that best fits the position they're filling. Alternatively, luck or nepotism.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI'm bored. So, let's do another reaction! This time to Just for Sidekicks! As usual, y'all can join me here
. LET'S BEGIN!
- Ah. So that's what happened to the baby phoenix from Dragon Quest... no wonder Meta told me to not get my hopes up.
- That's actually a pretty good Cold Open.
- Oooh! Corey Powell! I'm expecting good things from this eppy.
- Well, five minutes in... I am right! This eppy is pretty good so far. It's good to see the pets return after a while.
- Hilarious Spike facial expression there.
- Alright, Pinkie is hilarious. As usual.
- Huh, this episode is moving rather fast too.
- Also, this eppy is pretty darn funny.
- Hmm... the CMC are attempting to skydive this time... how would they get a plane... my god why am I analyzing this?
- EXACTLY! You just read my mind Applebloom!
- Okay, the pets' interactions with the CMC are pretty funny.
- You know what? Just the pets' interactions are very funny as well.
- -sees the pets rolled up in a ball- Naaa... nanana na na na na... Katamari Damacy...
- Ah... so that's how the CMC are apparently gonna get their skydiving cutie marks...
- Heh, it's cute seeing the CMC fangirling over the Crystal Empire.
- This is actually a rather nice ending.
So, that was my reaction to Just for Sidekicks! Overall, I thought that it was a pretty good episode and I enjoyed it pretty well.
@Seraphem: Hey there. I think that I found your YT channel when I was strolling through the comments of some videos... was the username 7Seraphem7 or something?

boop I'm more active on hereSo Ontario's new Lieutenant Governornote was sworn in today. The way I discovered it was pretty interesting, too: I was walking downtown when all of a sudden there were these cavalrymen and policemen on horseback (and no, they weren't Mounties, just members of the city police) guarding this horse-drawn carriage right in front of me!

@Sereg: You're taking it too seriously.
The main thing is just that lots of people jumped on the Opposites Attract aspect of it, mainly because Rarity and AJ interact really well, and once they get over their initial issues, they actually get along really well.
Until they were able to work together and cooperate at the end, where they came to understand the virtue of one another's mindsets and lifestyles. Rarity learned the necessity of getting down-and-dirty, while AJ learned the virtue of holding back a little while and dealing with some niceties. It wasn't a fall-in-love-right-then-and-there episode to be sure, but it laid the groundwork for their continuing relationship throughout the series.
Every time we see AJ and Rarity interact in the focus of an episode it deals with them understanding and appreciating one another's quirks and preferences. Though they do come into conflict, they always get over it because at the end of the day they do appreciate one another for what they are. I think out of all the ponies they interact the most frequently outside of focus. They rib each other and tease each other, and are occasionally exasperated, but that's fine. At the end of the day, it's a sign that they're comfortable with each other, enough so that they don't feel as though they're under attack from the other. They know it's teasing, and they're fine with it, and they balance it out with compliments and genuine affection.
Maybe they're not perfectly compatible, but they have the most important elemnt of a relationship down: Respect. At the end of the day, no relationship is ever going to be perfect and free of conflictt, but they're capable of having that conflict without it hurting their relationship in the long-term, which actually makes their relationship healthier than a couple of people who are determined not to fight, because they're capable of communicating honestly.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.LBYS is also AJ and Rarity at their worst in terms of getting along. It's the first time they interact primarily with each other without the rest of the cast around, possibly the first time in their lives not just on the show. They still butt heads fairly often, but in general they get along much better and seem to hang out fairly often. So while LBYS doesn't really portray an ideal relationship dynamic, it is a good starting place to build towards one.

eah, LBYS, not good, but how they've grown since then, I could really see it. Just, how well they interact, how much chemistry they have. If here IS one ship I do see some canon basis for, it's Rarijack, just because of how those two interact together. And as above, they m poke at each other, make fun of things, but always in a good natured way that neither takes offense to. They care for each other, and are comfortable enough to tease each other. So yeah they do make a good pair.
Also same reason a lot of people like Twidash. Just how damn WELL those two work off each other. Though for me, I don't see anything romantic there, but I DO love seeing them interact together. Any scene between the two of them is always amazing.
I yup that's me.
Plus the perfectly timed little compliment AJ gave in TCEP 2 which made her smile after decrystalizing.
Yeah, well, I anti-ship Twi Dash as well.
I think that JT kind of hit the mark though. Outside of crack ships, I take love very seriously. I think that it's hard to understate how seriously I take it. I consider messing with love to be one of the most heinous things imaginable. The concept of divorce utterly terrifies me. Being married to someone who doesn't love you sounds like one of the most horrible things I can think of. The instant I decide that I could not marry a girl, I am no longer interested. I'd rather die alone and unloved than experience heartbreak.
As such, the concept of people liking relationships filled with conflict is practically beyond my comprehension.

Is it okay if I complain about work for a little bit?
