A thread to discuss My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and the tie-in media.

I remember reading about a blind mathematician who specialized in geometry. Of course, he probably didn't have to deal with bad highschool classes.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIt's an interesting premise, but I'm not sure how well it works, given my headcanon that cutie marks are a direct reflection of a pony's interest/skills. I wouldn't think they'd get it at all unless they enjoyed it.
Reaction Image RepositoryI've always found the stuff about ponies hating their C Ms strange too. I think it has to be something they actually like.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayIn Fallout Equestria: Murky Number Seven, the title character hates his Mark for most of the story, but only because he misinterpreted the symbol and believed what others told him it was. But after he remembers exactly how he got it in the first place he has an epiphany and comes to see his talent for what it is. The implication being that a talent is your desire and something you want to do in your life, but that doesn't mean you instantly know what that talent is.
Ug, 10 minutes to go and I still can't figure out those last two stupid problems.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayWell, happy birthday FIM. In celebration of this event, I'll post a cute pic of the mane 6 as fillies and a pic of the best pairing as well.

I agree that a pony has to like their cutie mark in order to get it.
However, I AM enjoying a fic about a pony who has GROWN to hate their talent because of how POWERFUL it is. It's a fic by Estee. His version of Equestria is a bit more cynical than I take as canon, but is very interesting. Anyway, the fic is called "Mark of Appeal". Her talent is "sex appeal" and it's been continually growing stronger, so she can't really spend time around others any more. It's quite interesting for what sounds like a clop fic (it desn't contain clop).
So it turns out the two problems I couldn't figure out are from a section we don't have to do yet, so I don't feel nearly as stupid now. It would have been nice if he had actually said that before though.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayHope you like it. If you're new to Estee, as I said, his version of Equestria is a bit cynical. And his writing style is a little ... odd. It takes some getting used to. But it's worth it, as it's very interesting and he can bring the feels and the funny.
EDIT: My fave fic by him is Five Hundred Little Murders which is about euthenasia.

I'm used to oddness in writing. That's why I have fanfiction.net as my home page.
I did once write a story about a pony who wound up disliking their cutie mark or their talent, but less because of it and more the things associated with it.
Basically, it was Caramel as seen in the Winter Wrap Up, with Caramel Apples as his Cutie Mark. The problem was, while he enjoyed the details, focused work that went into making Caramel for the apples and other candies, he could only do it in the fall, and the rest of the year he had to help out on the farm, which he was terrible at and hated, because he couldn't focus on something that wasn't detailed work. He only got into it because he was Apple Family, so he had always believed that he had to do something apple-related.
Eventually his cutie mark wound up changing when he decided to break away from the family and found he had a talent and appreciation for cobbling. My approach to Cutie Marks is that they come with the decision that something is what you want to do with your life - thus, Caramel got a 'bad' mark because he felt confined to the life of an Apple, and got his 'real' cutie mark when he decided he was going to change that. The story as a whole was about choosing and finding your own path regardless of the situation you're born into, as the main plot is Caramel trying to help a filly get her cutie mark in a town full of ponies who don't have cutie marks because the village is so steeped in tradition out of necessity that ponies never decide what they want to do, they just do what they are taught has to be done.
Birthright: an original web novel about Dragons, the Burdens of Leadership, and Mangoes.I feel like season four's starter will probably just go into what's next for Twilight. Unless it's a two parter.
My fanfic outline. RIP Posey
Yep...well, Ghostface Killa but..what which way wore.

I utterly hated my geometry class in high school.
I never got any of my asignments in braille in time enough to work on anything so I had to ask students to read me off the shapes from the board and try to crunch it down to equations. It didn't help that I'm an audatory learner so taking text notes of shapes with no guide was unhelpful as it is, but I virtually misunderstood anything unles the teacher took time to explain it to me.
I came really close to failing it, but my teacher understood I was giving it my best and bumped up my final grade 10% so I could pass with a c.
