Yup, all three have had them since they appeared. Though Hiro managed to take out the lance-dude's shield by shooting at it a shitload with his sniper rifle, the gauntlet dude's shield has gotten hit by several bursts, and the last guy's shield is probably near full strength still - but he's dead so it won't really help him[lol]

Just some 411 on that last post: The axe is an arg'garok like the ones Hob and Laira found earlier that day, so it's that same 3-inventory-space-thing as before. The lance is 4 (that thing's like two meters long, after all). The gauntlets are 1 spot each, because each one is like a sack of bricks in convenient punch-glove form, so it's 2 spots if you carry both.

Not that any of that matters at the moment, since you're basically lounging around at home and not trying to lug that stuff around a battlefield.

Alrighty, I need some more space to post stuff. For finding things in the future, I'll have links to this junk in the first post of the thread.

Side Quests (Active)
  • Skeleton Key
    • Hiro finds a door pass key on a dead gamorrean who attacked the garage, but it doesn't indicate which door.
  • Problem Children
    • Hiro's fancy datapad holder gets stolen from the landspeeder, and he nearly gets murdered by an orphan street gang.
  • The Echani Connection
    • Hiro wants to learn Kung-Fu Echani martial arts.
  • The First Rule
    • Fera and Laira go out to eat at a Zabrak cafe, where Marruk, florist extraordinaire and boyfriend of the owner's daughter, goes out back to the alleyway and fights off three men with surprising skill. One of the thugs mentions that a 'Carbine' wants him to throw a fight, or else they will kill his girlfriend. Then the mercenaries step in and things get... nasty.
  • For a Few Credits More
    • Hob feels like beating the shit out of someone, so Johnny sends him over to a collection agency, where he purchases the rights to collect on a 50 credit debt. He collects 11 credits and a vibroknife from Kyhur, the debtor, but threatens that he'll be back later to collect the rest. He also uses a homeless man as a ladder.
  • Gotal Recall
    • Hob stops at a smokeshop for a pack of cigarettes, but the old gotal behind the counter seems to have something he's trying to forget.
  • The Holonet
    • Hiro certainly enjoyed playing pazaak on his datapad, but he started receiving strange messages from his opponent. Looking under his seat in the landspeeder, he sees she put a vibroknife there.
  • Where Everybody Knows the Color of Your Blood
    • Feeling masochistic, Hob goes to the Dented Dragonsnake, a cantina that doesn't allow humans, and feels like picking a fight. He manages to beat a Trandoshan, but his fatigue and injuries make him lose to a Nimbanel after several exchanges of blows. Then they all drink grog.
  • Cleaning House
    • The upstairs at base is really dirty.

Side Quests ( Completed "Completed")
  • Can You Fear Me Now?
    • Hiro offers to help the rodian owner of Things get his credits back from Dobson in exchange for a small holoprojector. When they get to Dobson's store, Fera pulls a knife on him and she, Hiro, and Nith interrogate him and leave. For some reason, a holoprojector is delivered to the Rancor's garage later that day. Later when Hiro goes to the store, he finds that Dobson wound up selling his store to the rodian and allegedly went off-planet out of fear of a woman coming back and hurting him and his family.

Main Missions

Day 1
  • Chemilizard Wranglin'
    • Hob and Laira get whisked away to a labor camp outside of town belonging to Kelmo the Hutt, where their job is to hunt chemilizards and receive payments per-kill, with cut-out tongues being used as proof of their kills. On the way there, Laira insults a rather surly quartet of gamorreans. After a small while of hunting, and Hob tripping over a lizard and nearly getting beheaded by a mandalorian, the duo explore another cave. They find a small camp of escaped evocii living there, and in exchange for Laira removing their explosive collars, one of the evocii leads the mercenaries to the lizard mating grounds. With the proper utilization of a few explosives, dozens of dead lizards are there, ready to collect, but the gamorreans from before ambush them. With only one of the boars having packed an energy shield, they're eventually defeated, and Hob and Laira turn in their tongues and go home.
Later on, three gamorreans, this time actually ready to fight people with guns, storm the Rancor HQ and start smashing things up as they run down Hob, but after a few (dozen) blasts and a knife to the head, the attackers go down with the mercs not suffering any (permanent) damage.
  • Transportation
    • Amos and Kal guard an armored truck delivering a popular protein shake and stimulant known as Mando Milk. Making a detour to avoid a bomb, fending off an attack, and fixing the truck, they make it safely to the destination and enjoy a smooth ride back.
  • Bounty: Nindo
    • Hitting up a tip from a cantina owner, Fera, Hob, and Nith are on the hunt for an ortolan named Nindo, wanted dead by Orleon the Hutt for an unknown reason. After reviewing some security footage and bribing a serving girl, they find a man who Nindo had met in the holovid, Dobson of Dobson's Datapads. After a hands-on round of questioning, they learn of Nindo's role as a private investigator investigating a seemingly unrelated case of identity theft for the man, and going by a fake name. Armed with knowledge of the ortolan's last location, they go to a storage unit in one of the city's warehouse districts. Inside, they find Nindo in a truck. They find a whole lot of Nindo's piece in that truck. As they start to head out with their bounty in tow, the unassuming durasteel container in the back of the truck starts shaking and punches. Face-to-face with an angry, half-drunk yozusk, a frantic fight breaks out, with Hiro breaking a nose and some ribs while knife-fighting the beast, and the truck losing its tailgate and windshield during the fray. Their combined attacks finally bring it down, and they're soon back at base with their bounty ready to be collected. They eventually take Hiro to a gungan doctor's clinic and get him patched up, but not before he develops a strange fixation on Fera's feet.

So, this doctor is kept in business entirely by the Rough Rancors, I'm assuming?

It's been fun.

Okay, I'm completely lost as to what's going on in the back alley. I was under the impression that the quarren was farther away from Laira, for one, and fairly close to Fera - or at least, close enough that she'd have been able to jump onto his back, and perhaps slow him for Laira to step on his hand as he reached for the gun that she was more or less standing on. Instead, now he's facing Fera, with enough time and coordination to shoot at Laira twice and break Fera's rib?

It's been fun.

He was always there. At the start, the zabrak was holding him and the mon cal down. After that they never moved far from their position, though he did roll around a bit with Marruk on the ground to try and escape. Laira was closer to those two (formerly three) since she executed the fishy point-blank, and he was standing right next to them before he died, since he was pointing a gun at Marruk just before Laira showed up. Fera was hiding behind the dumpster and then went around the corner, so she had at least one dumpster-length of distance to start with, though I just sort of handwaved that distance to be a bit shorter so that she could reach him in time.

The thing is you guys put like three or four actions in each of your posts, most of them being fairly detailed and precise, and assumed all of them would be successful in that order without taking into account that the target would have his own reactions to every action and could change things or affect the success of future actions.

Why does everyone of my characters end up losing their shirts? grin First Red from Bounty Hunters and now Hob. I'm gonna say that this happens enough to Hob that he has a bunch of crappy white t shirts to replace the destroyed ones.

@Fantasy's post this morning: Man, I think this is the longest RP I've ever had so far. Also we really don't use this thread much, it seems[lol] I suppose since so much is done on Skype and PMs this just collects dust. I've had people PM me with stuff about backstories they'd like to have, random musings about the RP, etc. But if anyone has suggestions for what you want to see down the line, post them here if you'd like. If a few of you guys really want to see something and are excited about it I'll definitely try and shove it into the game as soon as I can. And right now, it looks like Hob losing his shirts is the most popular idea in this thread.evil grin

Also I did some thinking, and while I don't like adding mechanics, I also don't like leaving you guys confused, so I think from now on whenever someone gets injured, I'll just give you a rough percentage of what their health is like, from 0% to 100%, to hopefully avoid any confusion. And your characters are supposed to be skilled and tough, and this is a game, so unless some sort of inhibition is specifically stated (Like when Hob got a dead arm, or Laira had a lizard bite her) just pretend your characters are totally fine and can operate like they normally do, but maybe things hurt or are just uncomfortable. Sort of like Critical Existence Failure, except you just pass out or collapse instead of dying, and getting that low will probably be uncommon.

So right now for a really rough guess, you could say Hob is at 10%, Fera is at 70%, and Laira is at 80% (If anyone's curious, the Trando is also at 10%, and the Nimbanel is at 40%). A medpac/advanced medpac/life support pack can roughly patch you up for 10%/20%/30% without having any medical skills, and you can ballpark that a doctor at a clinic can patch you up for like 1-5 credits per percent (Chobu's got you guys on the friends and family plan, so you're at the low end of that price range).

Thanks - that health thing is useful. What about rest? Like if Hob continued to drink and sit it out for awhile, would that increase his health?

Like I said, I don't like doing mechanics since I don't like complicating things, but I suppose that's necessary to add. I guess you can figure that a night's rest can give someone back like 20%. Hob and the Trando drinking was sort of how they 'revived' from being knocked out.

I was poking around Google, trying to find a decent reference for ship and speeder prices, and I found this thing that has prices for ships, and prices for vehicles. I think I might use it as a reference, unless anyone happens to know of a different pricing scheme. I hope having some sort of pricing guide makes it easier to get a rough idea of what you want to shoot for in the game. Though for used ships and vehicles (and probably the majority of what you'd deal with) I'd probably make things cost only 30% of the sticker price, which should make things more obtainable. But keep in mind that this guide, at least for ships, is the cost for a fully-equipped ship (shields, lasers, launchers, etc. included) so having components stripped away might further reduce a ship or vehicle's value.

One caveat with what I linked, though, is that the prices for the capitals, frigates, and corvettes seem extremely low, I'd definitely up those in price by a large factor. It probably won't matter to you guys until you've got a few hundred thousand/million credits so there's some more time to hammer out those details. Same for tanks and walkers. By the way, don't feel limited by the canon things that happen in the 'future' of the setting. If somehow you wind up behind the wheel of a fleet of capital ships and blow up Hoth - so be it.tongue

Hey Sarcy/Fantasy/Mantle/Claw, it's probably going to be another week or two at the current rate until Red/dalt's characters get back to base, do you have anything you want to do in the meantime? I can throw you into another side quest if you don't want to shop around for items or continue any of the current sidequests you're in.

Just about to ask that. Nman, how much time would you say has passed since Hob left Kyhur's apartment? Because if it's been a few hours, Hob can get whoever else wants to come along and come back.

#120: Dec 2nd 2013 at 4:33:23 PM

Time's mostly ambiguous, I'd say it's been at least two or three hours (Maybe an hour of walking, plus another two hours to beat the shit out of each other at the bar, with a few minutes buying smokes). You could also try to get a new job. With several people, you'd be able to tackle a wider range of repo/collection jobs.
