For now I have done the main quest, pirate queen's quest and beach mode. I'll do the others after I get back to this game from Mario+Rabbids.
Edit: Am I the only one who thinks the "sprite trilogy" feels a bit like a Two-Part Trilogy? The first game was very self-contained, whereas Risky's Revenge ends with Shantae depowered and introduces the magic-sucking lamp that will also be involved in the third game... That's actually mentioned on the Shantae page, though not on the 2-part trilogy trope page.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Kind of, yeah. I think the original one falls pretty squarely into the trope of the time where games were along the lines of 'a peaceful day in X Land... oh, no! Y is at it again!', episodic Saturday-morning-cartoon style things. The first game could be anywhere in the timeline, while Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse segue pretty well into each other.
(Once again, I really miss the greater story connection. I guess a followup to Pirate's Curse wouldn't be the easiest gateway into a rebooted, Kickstarted series, but even so...)
It's been fun.For backlog reasons, I've only played the first world of the new DLC up to now, and... Well so far, it feels like a re-skinned Beach Mode, at least Mechanics-wise. Perhaps easier since the cloud doesn't burst on contact with walls and the sunburn mechanic is gone; but the level design appears the same, whereas Pirate Mode, Friends and the original Beach Mode had subtle differences.
And there's still the double loading time when you die.
Still, the DLC is refreshing and the dialogues are funny.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Done!
I've finally found the time to play the remaining DLCs, finishing with Officer Mode, which was awesome. I'm happy to have saved it for last.
So I managed to 100% the whole game, but doing it fast is another story. The only "fast" win screen I got was for my Hero Mode 100% playthrough of the main game... And I have not tried Hardcore Mode. I'm definitely not hardcore, at least not if it's even harder than the DLCs.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."It's not an article, it's just a tweet saying pretty much what tclittle posted, alongside a title image with Shantae that has her hair form a "5". There's nothing else shown or mentioned just yet.
I'm mostly interested in seeing what the art aesthetic will look like, but good news is good news. I still need to finish Pirate's Curse and Half-Genie Hero's DLC episodes, so I guess I'll work on that while I'm waiting on more news.

I’m hoping for a more metroidvania coherent world feel
Levels as stretch goals made things feel disjointed
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHot damn! I like HGH, but I'd also like a return to the more old school style, which seems to be what's going on. I think the hair of gameplay footage I saw looks more 2D even.

Yeah, this page has a montage of gameplay clips for different games on Apple Arcade in the "Play something extraordinary" section,
with Shantae 5 being one of them. From what's shown, sprites from Half-Genie Hero are being reused, but the game is full-on 2D with flat environments rather than 2.5D with 3D environments.

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests. That's the one. Again, 3D wasn't necessarily bad in HGH, but a classic approach is fine by me too. Looks like they're keeping the new model though.

I'm playing the game on Switch and I think that already includes all the DLC campaigns. I'm still in the middle of the main quest, though. I'm at the flying carpet races.
What a fun game. I think I'll actually finish it this time.
