Is DrunkDuck down?

The domain "drunkduck.com" no longer answers, and this has been the case for a week (or more) now. Is the entire site down, or did they drop the name as part of their rename to "The Duck"?

https://www.facebook.com/DrunkDuckcomics

Google is your friend, Medinoc. Or just search engines in general. There's their facebook page, it says they're having hosting problems.

Seems like a week is an oddly long time for the issue to persist, but there's like a bajillion webcomics hosted there so that might be delaying things.

If this continues it might be worth checking to see if the comics hosted on drunk duck have moved on, so we can begin changing links.

Life and Death for example has a smackjeeves site here

The Duck has just relaunched at http://www.theduckwebcomics.com/ I've updated the main article accordingly.

Even if the Duck itself is up, it looks like this does not automatically mean all the comics are back up as well. In the case of abandoned/finished webcomics, we may have to clean up broken links if they don't get put back up in the next few months.

And they haven't put the old URL back up (purposely I think; Seems they've been trying to get rid of "drunk" for some time now), breaking every single link to them and their archives. For the second time, in the latter case.

They still need Wowio to get the Drunkduck name from former owners Platinum Studios. Until then, all the links are busted because the new management can't redirect it. Until they can do that, it's almost as good as dead, honestly. Nobody but hardcore fans of the site itself know it's back, and there's no way of letting readers know the site is back unless you had a following or a mirror outside the site.sad

Looks like they've managed to get a sizable chunk of their content up anyway. So... I'm guessing that people who advertise or whatever with their comics are getting the word out.

[up][up]Ah, you mean on top of the server crash, there's a change in ownership?

Yup, there was a billing issue and Wowio was out of money to fix it, so the admins fought a hard battle to get Wowio to hand it all over to the community. Hopefully there will be some improvements on the horizon. DD has suffered a huge case of neglect ever since Platinum gave it to Wowio,(as in, gave it to Wowio because they had no money to give them instead) Wowio made an attempt to redesign the site but the pressure/lack of funding drove the ENTIRE team off the project leaving one guy holding the bag. There has been virtually no communication from the site owners, with the poor beleaguered admins having to throw up their arms in exasperation whenever people asked when the site will finally be fixed. Problems like login issues and malware ads made the site a virtual ghost town long before the site went down in August. It's going to be a long uphill battle to recover the site's reputation.

[up] [up] Actually, absolutely nothing was lost from the crash, there was a backup of all the stuff but the entire site needed recoding from the ground up and they had to get another person in to decipher a lot of code that had unclear functions because the former coder didn't leave notes, and like everything with Wowio and Platinum they were impossible to contact.

[up]Oh yeah, I remember that redesign. Mainly that it removed a feature that I used, the asterisk signaling that a fav'd webcomic had been updated in the last 24 hours.

Alright, the links aren't restored. Time for a Projects thread.
