So with the recent global terrorism alert I realised that we don't have a place to discuss such events as they happen and how they are being dealt with/reacted to.
So now I've done that, here's the latest as I'm aware of it. Normally I'd provide sources but I'm on my iPad so it's difficult to do so.
US embassies across the Great Middle East are closed until Saturday due to the current threat, the embassies of other western nations in Yeman have also been closed with staff being evacuated from the county.
Additionally a global travel alert has been issued for all US citizens, with US/UK citizens in Yeman being told to leave immediately.
Yeman's security services have been placing much of the country on lockdown, with the army out in force due to intelligence indicating that a large number of Al-Qa'ida operatives are in the country to work on the expected attack.
They (Yeman's security forces) have also just recently announced that they have foiled an attempt by AQ to blow up several oil pipelines and seize control of costal cities, howev they remain on high alert, so there is obviously more to come.
Mod edit:
- As of July 2024, the OTC Israel and Palestine thread
is locked indefinitely and that discussion should not migrate to other threads. Discussion of terrorism or extrajudicial activity related to either of them (including speculation about a connection to them) is banned here.

The French, however, will not likely send in troops. Jordan has avoided it due to the destabilizing nature of war on the weak Jordanian economy. However, with this....
Given how utterly self-defeating terrorist actions are, you can understand why people would assume they are false-flag operations; they functionally serve exactly that purpose, whether the perpetrators (and their sponsors?) are aware of it or not.
As for the latter part, there's been a few serious empire-builders/unifiers in the last century. Gamal Nasser
comes to mind, bless his hypercompetent, fragile heart. His was a game of cleverness and manoeuvring, rather than one of violence and terror (although there was a little bit of that too, but hey).
Jordan is one of the few countries that has popular support. They are struggling, but the Jordanians are pretty happy with their government, so they could back their play if they chose to jump in the fight. But I highly doubt it will be traditional warfare in the sense of boots on the ground, more like bombing them from a distance.
Jordan can't do it alone though.
"Psssh. Even if you could catch a miracle on a picture any person would probably delete it to make space for more porn." - AszurThe Jordanians are probably receiving US and "Beat" Israeli support for their air strike operations.
If I recall correctly the Jordanians use Block III F-16s supplied/sold by the US, Israel uses the same models of F-16s and is in quite friendly terms with Jordanians, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are providing spare parts or some sort of logistic support for them.
As far as I know the seizing of the Jordanian pilot by ISIL was an extreme case of bad luck, I don't think they shot it down as there is more evidence that the jet had a mid air engine failure and crashed due to it, sadly a bit unfortunate thing to happen on single engine planes specially over enemy terrain.
Inter arma enim silent legesWell... I'm not surprised. At all. Same lady, different cloak.
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.A fairly significant amount of people here sincerely believe that Islam is the only option the Middle East has to save itself from its current troubles, and that there must be some strong "defenders of the faith" to protect the ummah from the machinations of the West and the Zionists (to use what they call them here). Guess who ticks those boxes (technically)?
However, the brutality of Daesh has convinced those claiming that Daesh is a false flag organization that Daesh is actually an effort by the West or the Zionists to paint Islam and Muslims in the worst light imaginable to justify the continued subjugation of the Muslims of the Middle East.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotThere are numerous conspiracy theories, most of them just different variations of 'THE JEWS ARE BEHIND IT'
If you look through Liveleak, there are a lot of videos claiming that the USA is actually supporting the Daesh by air-dropping weapons supplies to them, with said airdrops disguised as missiles.
It is brain-meltingly stupid, but there ya go.
Reminds me of all the people who claimed the WTC was faked because America has Hollywood, masters of special effects (?????)

Anybody want space lobsters?
Well, I mean of course.
we all know hollywood had hyper-realistic dynamic 3D hologram effects and perfectly timed explosions in 2001.

The world is inherently chaotic no amount of religion, conspiracy or wishful thinking will change that, accept it, and move on.Jordan have responded by hanging the female suicide bomber and another jihadist
. They have also promised an "earthshaking" response.

Also, his hatred and desire for retribution closely mirrors Daesh's own. Though at least he only desires the destruction of the organisation and 'none of them amongst us be kept alive' - check this lovely statement out at the bottom of the article:
Al-Azhar, Sunni Islam's most prestigious centre of learning, has called for the killing and crucifixion of ISIL fighters, expressing outrage over their murder of the pilot.
In a statement after the burning alive of Kassasbeh, the Cairo-based centre called for the "killing, crucifixion and chopping off the limbs of Islamic State terrorists".
Yeah, the abyss is gazing quite hard into you there guys.
