The doctor shrugged at Julia. "The Icons called us here are clearly beyond our full comprehension. Who can say what their logic is? Perhaps there are even more Heralds than us and the four in America; perhaps the Icons knew their enemy's strategy and placed us accordingly; perhaps the Icons are just bored. Any answer we come to now is strictly conjecture."
"Corner, corner!"
"What do you mean by corner?" Jast was too spaced out to notice any of his surroundings, and like pretty much everyone else, didn't notice another strange event happening right by them. A girl was doing something, who she was, who knows, but it was obvious she wasn't helping anything. She was apparently...holding a shadow. Which connected to the kid. What would that even do? He turned to her. "Hey...what're you doing and who are you?"
Terry looked over at the same time as Jast said something, and walked over to his side, looking at the girl tugging at the shadow of the boy they had saved. What was she doing?
Why was she doing such a thing to someone's shadow?
However, for now, he said nothing, deciding that his presence there would say more.
David rubbed the sleepiness out of his eyes and yawned loudly, getting up from the park bench he mysteriously found himself upon. He opened his eyes and...
Found everyone covered in an unsightly goo. At least most of the park had cleared out, so his head didn't hurt quite as much. However, the conflicting thoughts of the Heralds were pounding against his brain; everyone's train of thought seemed to be going in completely different directions.
"Okay," he demanded, "What the hell did I sleep through?"
i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apartVesper gave a start—which, thankfully, only meant that her head silently snapped up at attention—at the sudden question thrown her way. Concentration broken, Seren's shadow went back to its normal state.
One of her now slightly clammy hands (somewhat shakily) went up to tuck a strand of her black hair back into the scarf covering it.
"…I said I was the Herald of Darkness. I didn't think I'd be that forgettable," Vesper answered Jast as calmly as she could. (It was good that her bandana covered her up enough to hide the blush beginning to burn her cheeks.)
You see what you did?! Now they're all going to hate you, and you'll be even more useless to them!

"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeSo many Heralds..."Stop doing...that. Please. It seems unnecessary." Jast didn't really care for the explanation, and just wanted to get situated. A small twitch, then his face changed direction to David. "You didn't miss much, actually. Looks like more than it was. A gooey thing came out of a hole and threw this kid. Then the majors took it out with a 4-man-woman combo attack. He gestured to Terry, Julia, Marina, and Seren. "Plus, that kid has a really cool name."
"Oh," replied David. "How did I manage to sleep through that?"
He sighed and then remembered he'd been dreaming about something. He had a feeling it was important, but by now the dream had long faded away.
"Okay, so, now what do we do?"
i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apartRegardless of Seren's intentions, his sudden disappearance couldn't be good for any of them.
"Jesus Christ," Vesper hissed. Suspicious or not, he was their only source of information. Without making any further comment, she fell into the shadows again, intent on finding and chasing the brat down.

"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeEmily blinked as the child fled. It didn't take a scientist to know that something was definitely, inarguably wrong with the boy. But he was also still a child, or at least, looked like a child. Running children were afraid, and scared and cornered things always lashed out. Always.
Judging by how Seren had taken down that monster so calmly, Emily didn't want to imagine the damage he'd do now that he was desperate.
"We shouldn't run after him." She breathed, glancing back to closest people, Mansart and Jast, and watching Vesper's retreating form with a weary eye, "But she's going to get herself hurt if someone doesn't go after her."

"Well then, looks like this is our first mission. Or should we split up into groups like in Scooby Doo?" Jast stood for a while scratching his beard lightly. "Even If we shouldn't follow the boy, we have to get Shadow back before she does some more of the..pully stuff."

"If you think you can help those two, go for it. They're going to need help." Emily stared down at red gloop covering the bottom of her shoes. She circled, finding a dry patch of ground to plop herself down onto, "As it is, I think my limited abilities will be a liability to them. I can, however, help with this."
From the depths of her sleeveless hoodie pockets, Emily drew out a small red notebook and pencil, along with a test tube. With a quick inspection of the glass, she carefully scooped a bit of the red liquid from the ground, and started writing.

David stood in the sidelines, not entirely sure what he should do. He still felt rather embarrassed for having fallen asleep in the middle of a battle.
Suddenly, Terry's eyes started glowing and he sped off after Seren and the others. Having had a little visit into his mind beforehand, David feared the worst.
That can't have been the Destroyer taking over or something, could it? Is that why he's so afraid of it?
"Um," he muttered, "I think I'll go after them..."
And with that, he sprinted after Terry, keeping an eye out for him above.

i think i mostly want to see what happens when this whole place breaks apartThe boy was already standing at the edge of the park, and still going. The boy appeared in the middle of a street and ran down it, seeming to look for something. The boy threw his chakram, the weapon this time passing over the heads of a large crowd and into an underground station. The boy caught it on the other side before discretely teleporting again to bypass the ticket barrier and hid his chakram, deciding it was best not to keep his weapon on show in a public area. The boy entered a train just as it left the station, speeding away.
Emily shook her head as one by one the group chased after Seren. She silently noted that the fringe in front of her eyes was steadily draining in color.
"They'll be alright." She thought, "They were chosen for a reason. I can only assume this was mine."
With that, she wrapped her hand around the liquid-filled tube. Her consciousness squeezed itself into the solution and at length, it sizzled with the energy of its chemical backbone breaking down.

When Vesper came out again, it was at the very southeastern tip of Hyde Park—just in time to see Seren throw his chakram clear across the large intersection, disappearing again with it.
And she couldn't do anything to catch up to him. There were no other shadows to continue traveling through, too many homicidal cars for her to even think about crossing, and someone in the crowded sidewalk would probably panic if made a scene.
Worthless waste of space.
She gripped the one strap of her backpack in agitation.
(How could the Icons be so foolish?)
"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeVesper looked to the skies, seeing Terry blatantly fly right into what she could only guess was London's Underground.
So much for subtlety.
"The station," she stated, barely glancing in Julia's direction.
Soon enough, the streetlights changed, and Vesper wasted no time in running right to a station labeled "Hyde Park Corner," where she quickly dissolved into the shadows again before going down herself.

"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeDammit this is what I get for trying to be nice. Julia thought to herself as she sprinted across the street and down into the station, only to be stopped by a crowd in front of the ticket station.
Son-of-a-
The tall woman immediately began to push her way through the crowd as best she could.

"It does make one wonder why those of us who are American were called out here to London" Julia said leaning up against a nearby tree. "Oh hold that thought" she stared at her sword in concentration and it began to sink into the ground.
