Vesper hummed at Seren, taking his explanation with a grain of salt, but at Dr. Mansart's words, she took a good look at the rapier planted in the dirt for the first time.
Despite its origins, she couldn't help but admire the elegance of it, its sheer perfection in her eyes. Wariness for Seren aside, if he was right about it being tuned to her very soul, oh, all the possibilities! Her powers were still limited, so if she could hold a weapon in any of her states—
Don't be selfish!
She took a sharp but silent intake of breath, here eyes closing momentarily to hide their sudden, heart-stopping guilt. With a quick gulp, she looked back at Dr. Mansart, those eyes now neutral.
"It would probably be best for you to take it," she told him without elaboration, her voice just as emotionless as her gaze.
"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeTerry nodded, and asked, "So, um, what happened to your parents or guardians? How did you get out here alone, by yourself?
The blond did note how oddly durable this kid was, and decided to make sure that nothing was wrong. He had to wonder if this was it, or if there was some other reason the Icons called them there.
"Seren again seemed to lose his enthusiasm on mention of his parents. He looked down at his feet, the shoes they were contained in still covered in blood and spoke quietly.
"They're gone."
As Dr Mansart grasped the sword, he felt in bind with him. An indescribable feeling inside him, a small burst of knowledge relating to how to use a sword appearing in his mind, the knowledge of the sword's potential powers, and an urge. The sword compeled him to name it.

Something occured to Marina.
"Did you know that this thing would be here?" she asked, looking over at Terry. "When I was sitting on the bench, I thought you said something about a 'destroyer'."
It's kind of funny. Sufficiently advanced stupidity is like sufficiently advanced science; eventually, you find something you can't solve.Dr. Mansart swished the elegant blade to test its limits. It not only moved with the greatest of ease, the professor could swear it sang as it cut the air. It was a powerful yet beautiful weapon, worthy of an equally powerful yet beautiful name.
"Durendaal," the professor mumbled to the blade, "after the indestructable blade of Roland. With your help my dear, I hope not to meet poor Roland's fate."
At Seren's statement, Vesper's gaze became intent on him again. Taking a quiet step back, she began to focus on pulling on his cast shadow again, willing it to slowly become longer—and darker.
(You're a cold-hearted bitch, you know that?
She didn't bother to respond.)

"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - Me"That's the strange part," Dr. Mansart replied to Emily. "Aside from replicas and museum exhibits, I've never even a sword up close, let alone held one. Yet with this beautiful blade in hand..."
The professor quickly swished the sword with all the expertise of a musketeer. "...it feels remarkably natural, as if I've been fencing all my life. I feel like I belong in one of Dumas' novels!"
Russell turned to the scruffy young man who approached him. "Of course. Do what you must"
Lightly holding the blade, the professor offered Jast Durendaal's hilt.

Terry looked away at mention of the Destroyer by Marina, and was grateful when she seemed distracted, but then decided to get it over with.
He told her, "The Destroyer is a thing that I hear, it whispers to me, its...its dangerous. I started hearing it when I got my powers."
He doubted she would understand how he felt about this. Just hearing it speak tended to induce pain in him. He did not like to think what would happen were it to seize control.

"Thanks." Instead of taking the blade, Jast just awkwardly reached his arm around and rubbed the blade until small sparks came off of his fingers. When he was done, he took his ham away and rubbed his arm, white-blue electricity lightly jumping in random directions. "Hmm. Well, I'm good. Herald of Electricity by the way. Jast."
Still patiently pulling at Seren's shadow, Vesper glanced up at Terry's words. She quickly looked away, though, going back to her work.
Might as well kill that poor boy too, while you're at it, it snarked. Your paranoia will get you noting but contempt!
Her throat tightened.
"I do not approve of the fact that my favorite quotes are too long for this character limit." - MeTerry, with that, thought of what they were expected to do next. They had stopped the giant ooze thing, and now it looked like everything was kind of winding down.
He did notice Marina did not try to dig further, and was somewhat relieved that he didn't have to talk more about that thing any more.
Well, we've saved the kid. Now what?

Seren looked at Vesper and then at his chakram then back to Vesper several times before talking again.
"I think I'm harder to hurt somehow. I'm still something weird. And I just woke up with this thing. Pretty cool though."
As he spoke Seren looked over his chakram, looking for any damage to it and finding none.
"And like I said, I'm fine. I can take care of myself if I need to"
