Sly! You never learn!
I'm a skeptical squirrelThis actually sounds kinda cool.
AND IT HAD DAMN WELL BETTER HAVE A TRAINING MONTAGE SET TO TERRIFYINGLY INSPIRING 80'S MUSIC!
Now I wonder if they will bring back Ivan Drago. I mean, if you make a movie with Apollo's grandson, gotta be room for the guy who killed Apollo.
Nah, nah, Ivan Drago's son, Vlad Drago played by Jason Statham for no actual reason. Ivan Drago is Rocky's Evil Counterpart as the old retired boxer turned trainer.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I remember once reading that Stallone has envisioned some really dark fates for Drago. Either he disgraces himself in the eyes of his countrymen and ends his life after succumbing to alcoholism, or the steroids destroy his body and he spends the rest of his life in an iron lung. Either one would be good motivation for a younger Drago to seek revenge, actually.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThis could be good. I guess it partly depends on if it's about Creed being mentored by Rocky or about Rocky mentoring creed.

Anyone who knows the director shouldn't be surprised.
Also, trivia: the director, Ryan Coogler, was a classmate of Lindsay Ellis, aka the Nostalgia Chick, at NYU.

"Urge to thump... rising." -FighteerSaw the preview last night. I'm definitely interested in it.
Is it the same Apollo Creed from Ted 2?
Looks good. As long as it doesn't focus too much on Rocky to the detriment of Creed's grandson, it'll be alright.

It's creed's son, I think, not his grandson.
Oh yeah, you're right. I didn't read the Wikipedia or the IM Db page. OP, it's best to correct your post.
Here's my question
Are they going to address, in any way, the fact that Rocky is explicitly responsible for Apollo's death?
My various fanfics. Why is there no hype surrounding this? I'm not even a huge Rocky fan and I'm so excited for this. What gives?
Several sites are raving about the film. Say it's the best film Stallone's done in 30 years.
It really is. I think it may be the best Rocky film since the original. Even better than Rocky Balboa (which I really liked).

Question: would you say that I should watch the earlier Rocky movies before this one? I'm interested but I haven't seen any of them in full, just clips here and there.
It's definitely not required, but I would say it adds to the experience. If nothing else, I'd watch Rocky IV (because the events of that one are pretty important to the plot of Creed) and the original Rocky (because it's a damn great film).
Rocky II and III would also be recommended alongside those, if you want to get all the background details and character traits between Apollo and Rocky.

Also, Rocky IV is a pretty hilarious piece of Cold War, so it's quite interesting to watch.
Does Ivan Drago appear in the film, for that matter?

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. No, and I think some supplementary material from Rocky Balboa mentions that Drago became an alcoholic and commit suicide some time after the movie.
It's strange and off putting that they talk about Apollo's death (and Rocky's responsibility for it!) without ever mentioning Drago. It's like in The Dark Knight Rises where they make references to the previous movie without ever mentioning the Joker.
It'll be focussing on Apollo Creed's grandson being mentored by Rocky.
I'm pretty excited personally.
