I started the show because Laverne Cox is gorgeous and I finished Season 2 insanely fast. So fast in fact, I paused the TV was like 'WTF I'm on episode 13?' Thank God that they're already filming Season 3.
I also learned that Laverne Cox's twin brother plays Sofia pre-transition, which explains so much.
I have a question, what is the expiration on spoilers, being that everything is available for the viewing?
To quote the great American philosopher, Sweet Brown, "Ain't nobody got time fo' dat."Finally gotten around to watching the show, and I love it. It does a really great job of being nuanced about the characters, showing pretty much everyone to have balance. One character who remained flat for a long time was Sister Ingalls, but S2 eventually did something great with her too.
It's true that there are very few truly nice people in the cast, but then, this is prison. At the same time, I found quite a few characters growing on me that didn't appeal at first. Poussey for example. There's a lot of genuine, realistic explanations for how these characters came to be where/who they are.
That's not to say the show is without its faults, but it's interesting viewing, and I'm really looking forward to S3 later this year.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Finished both seasons last week as well, really liked it.
That season two ending had to be one of the most satisfying things I've ever watched.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).
Rosie happening to see "rude" Vee and running her over was gorgeously karmic. Plus, Rosie is awesome. I love how she was a minute character in season 1 but turned out to be a badass bankrobber in season 2.
I'm not on the Crazy Eyes wagon. Wonderful actress and a well-written character, but I don't find her as compelling as Red or Sophia. Though crying over the Uno cards was heartbreaking.
Larry spoiled his actor's character on The Good Wife for me.
I cannot take this lazy entitled schmuck as the clever and eccentric co-creator of Bit Coin.
3rd series is now up! 13 episodes, the last being an hour and a half.
And it is amazing.
The cast seem to rotate more in this series compared to the previous ones - you'd really not know that Piper is the main character if not told, and plenty of major characters barely show up in some episodes, because there's so many of them.
Also holy fucking shit that cliffhanger ending. Really? We gotta wait a whole year or more now until we find out if Alex is still alive?
Four episodes in, it's amazing, although unlike previous season I can't see the big arc story yet (Vee was clearly meant as an antagonist in S2, while S1 was Piper's).
Piper has been epic so far (that line to the sexist buyer...). Morello is still very cute and very disturbing. The focus episodes on Nicki and Boo made them much more understandable.
But seriously, if we don't see Nicki anymore, I am going to scream very loudly, she was so amazing, my heart is broken right now. F-ing Luschek. I think I may be in love with her voice actually, even more than with Alex's.
Oh I am loving this season halfway-in. Also, the Danny from the private prison firm is so freaking insidious. He just crawls in and plays all buddy-buddy "just doing my best" with Cavuto and all the while it should be so clear that he is trying to maximize profits at all costs and couldn't care less about quality. The random selection of people for the new job was priceless.
Also, Chang. My dear dear Chang.

So, that sure was an ending right there
Also, anyone else annoyed at how quickly they dropped Piper's vow to avenge Nicki?
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).There was so much going on that I actually unfortunately forgot about Nicki after a few episodes. I love the character but not everyone can have loads of screentime.
I liked that Danny did pull a Heel–Face Turn without actually really doing anything positive after it, just Screw This, I'm Out of Here!.
Piper really does seem to be going full-on evil now. It was cool that her brother stayed in the series, as he's fun to watch, but her own development suggests things aren't going to end well for her.
I'm loving all the backstories—Chang (holy shit!), Flaca, and Pennsyltucky in particular. Also, I haven't seen how it plays out, but I loved Boo's rage and horror during that talk with Penn. Fuck Leanne though.
My favorite running gag by far is Crazy Eyes's sci-fi erotica.
Main rage note is Red's apparent fondness for Healy. UGH! I hate that fucker. And the counselor's comment "You're a vengeful little man, aren't you? But I'll be back, because I'm good at what I do. Fuck yeah.
Speaking of terrible dudes...ugh, he's a terrible person, but am I the only one who finds Cesar kinda sexy? Purely in presentation, but daaamn.
Also, holy crap, he's a wretch but a tiny part of me wanted to give Pornstache a hug during his monologue.
"That's what crime circles do, Pipes!" "I know, isn't it brilliant?!"

I find Cesar a really fascinating case of Faux Affably Evil. There are moments where he shows an old-fashioned (if horrendously chauvinistic) set of values not unlike a mafioso where you *almost* buy into the fact that he might not be a COMPLETELY horrible individual in spite of being a criminal, but then you remember that he cheats on Aleida, runs a meth lab in the middle of a family's house, and much more tellingly, holds a gun to a kid in order to get him to eat.. he's a thug, no two ways about it.
i feel bad for daya and her siblings because there was little chance of them growing up to be well-adjusted and respectable people when they're being raised by a self-centered and irresponsible mother and a chauvinistic thug.
The actor is really charismatic though...and dat hip-to-shoulder ratio
. No denying he's a terrible person of course.
Oh, and I never thought I'd hear "Do You Hear the People Sing?" on this show
.
Ohohoho hot Aussie girl leaving and Piper's probably contemplating a way to fuck it up.
Fuck. Poor Sophia.

Done with the season, with this marvellous finale. So, thoughts.
- Fuck Piper. Seriously. She is becoming one of the most despicable characters in the show, treating Alex like dirt while showing no empathy whatsoever - and that, after Alex forgives her for bringing her back in - and sending Stella to Max. The girl is emulating Tahar Rahim in A Prophet, unless she tries to go Walter White? Anyway, I don't know how Max works, but if the prisoners have even a little bit of human contact together, Stella & Nicki have got to be the sexiest couple ever seen in a prison. Although Caputo is in the running for the title of most jerk points earned, and he did that on very short notice too. That last scene was quietly terrifying.
- Woobie of the season - Sophia. Poor girl can't catch a break.
- Pennsatucky may have become my favorite character, and her friendship with Boo has turned from a joke to one of the most heartwarming things in the entire series. I almost cried in front of my screen after you-know-which episode. It's not even Character Development at that point, it's a metamorphosis. And a convincing one.
- I already mentioned it, but Stella was awesome and looked awesome. Fuck you Piper.
- HOLY HELL CHANG
- Best moment of the year: Red casually offering a cucumber to Gloria for her "man problems". What would the prison do without Red? Although helping Piper turn into what she is now wasn't cool at all.
- Poussey and Soso ♥♥ Crazy Eyes and...the other girl who decidedly does not belong in a prison ♥ they are so sweet and heartwarming. I love Poussey. And without that last scene, Sophia would have shared her woobie of the season title with Soso. Poor girl couldn't catch a break.
- Even Leanne seems somewhat more human than Piper now. Chapman is just emotionless. It's creepy.
- I like Flaca. Before this season, she was just part of Those Two Girls with Maritza, being the "less pretty one", but she got characterization this year. Like all the latina ladies, actually, it was pretty balanced. I guess next season we will have a Maritza episode, because she is the one that received the less development so far.
- Even Black Cindy got some depth, turning a running joke into something serious and, once again, heartwarming. And Norma watching over everyone...really, this last episode is a masterpiece, with the biggest "OH FUCK NO" moment, then the sweetest scene in the entire series, then the big Oh, Crap! with the double beds. So well-crafted.
Honestly, they could end here, and it would be glorious. But I hope we will get at least one more season, because I do want to see Chapman and Caputo getting her comeuppance. I am starting to hope that the last scene of the series will be Chapman being sent to Max because, fuck, she is turning into a crazy mobster.
So I finally finished season 3. would have finished it earlier but i was watching it with my brother.
- I have to agree that Piper has become pretty much impossible to like at this point. She was sympathetic enough in season 1, basically a person who meant well but wasn't perfect. Second season she got colder but even in spite of her one moment of Comedic Sociopathy she wasn't THAT bad. However she's pretty much stopped trying to be a good person and has just embraced every negative trait she had and has basically become a self-centered sociopath with no empathy whatsoever. What's funny is that she thinks she's some walter white bad bitch (a fact that cal points out, a moment that had me laughing histerically) but in reality she'll always be too petulant and petty for me to take her seriously.
- going off that last point, this is basically the darkest season in the show isn't it? not that the first two seasons couldn't be dark but in this one we have pennastucky getting raped twice, nicky going to max, sophia being left in SHU for god knows how long and watching her son gradually turn into a horrible thug, bennett running off like a bitch and daya pretty much losing her child for good, the prison being bought out by people who don't give a shit, soso falling into depression and nearly killing herself, etc.
With that said, it was worth it for that finale. It's probably my favorite season finale so far. There's no big dramatic shakeup EXCEPT FOR ALEX POTENTIALLY GETTING KILLED HOLY SHIT FUUUUUUU, it's just a triumphant moment of temporary freedom for the prisoners. it ties up most of the running plot threads throughout the season; people reconcile, forget old enmities, welcome back each other despite their faults because people are only human.
also judy king confirmed for season 4 CATCH THIS HYPEEEEEE

It isn't a big plot hole to me, after all he did show up this season, could have been him making sure she was in there in the same panicky way. No problem for me.
