Here's my own sheet here, with some potential plot arc info in the bio.

•Duelist Name: Samantha Beckett (ten points if you get her last name reference)

•Age: 15

•Appearance: A short (5'3"), brown eyed, red headed girl who keeps her long hair in a ponytail when dueling. She wears a red and white baseball cap all the time, along with her dark green cargo pants and white tee-shirt. She keeps her Omni-Reader clipped to her belt and her deck in one of her many pants pockets.

•Personality: Sam is a generally friendly girl, if slightly spacey sometimes. She's not impulsive, but she does often get into situations without fully understanding them. She's actually pretty cautious in duels, much to the chagrin of some of her Character Cards. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and her small family.

•Deck: Video Game And Cartoon Heroes themed

Character Cards-

  • Guillmon (Digimon Tamers): uses claws, teeth, and tackles as default.

  • Link (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword): Uses normal Goddess Sword+Short range Skyward Strikes and Wooden Shield as default.

  • Korra (The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra):Uses waterbending from her waterskin and her fists as default.

Action Cards:

Pyro Sphere (Guillmon)-Fires a ball of flames from mouth that explodes when it hits. May cause burns if a die rolls a 6.

Pyroblaster(Upgraded Guillmon)-Launches a short, but strong stream of fire from the mouth. Causes burns if the dice rolls a 5 or 6.

Dragon Slash (Upgraded Guillmon)-Uses blades on arms to cut the opponent. Can break through environment obsticles.

Red Potion(Link)- Heals all phydical damage up to twice, but is then discarded to graveyard.

Spin Attack (Link)- Spins sword in a circle, hitting all around Link's immediate area and knocking the opponent down for that turn.

Shield Bash (Link)- Deflects physical attacks and all projectiles that hit Link's shield. Unuseable if shield is broken before.

Earthbending: Stone Launch (Korra)- Lifts up a person sized chunk of earth to throw at opponent. Can also be used to make platforms and shields.

Firebending: Stream (Korra)- Creates a continuous flamethrower that can also be used to propel the character in a direction.

Waterbending:Healing Palm (Korra)- Can heal either her own or another character's last injury.

Upgrade Cards:

Digivolution (Guillmon)-Turns Guillmon into Growlmon, making him physically stronger and over twice as large. Gets slightly bigger with every opponent he defeats, stopping at the size of a small building at 5 wins.

Environment Cards:

Republic City Streets- Area turns into a crowded city intersection with passing cars as hazards. Any Action Card with Waterbending or Earthbending in the name is increased in power. Larger characters will have a hard time manuvering the tight spaces.

Faron Woods:Skyward Sword- Transforms arena into a heavily wooded area with massive trees. Any Skyward Sword character recieves an evasion boost.

•Bio: Samantha Beckett had a relatively normal childhood. Well, as normal as the daughter of the last Omni-Dueling World Champion could have. Her mother married Ken Beckett before he rose in the duelist ranks to fame. Even with all the publicity around him, he always kept the media away from his family. He came home from tournaments often, letting Sam play with his multiple Character Cards, but she didn't pick up an interest in dueling as a job until he disappeared 4 years ago, after defeating a Duelist who tried to challenge his Championship rank. She and her mother were devistated, until a package came in the mail a month later with a brand new Omni-Reader registered to Sam, along with the Guillmon Character Card and Pyro Sphere Action Card. Her father's favorite cards in his best deck to be exact. A swipe of a card proved that they really were his cards. When questioned, Guillmon remembered only up until beating that last Duelist with Ken, and then he drew a blank about his old partner. Convinced that her father was out there somewhere, Sam started forming her own deck so she could go out and dig up new leads on him. She gained the Link card sometime during the last 4 years, and Korra only weeks ago. After getting another letter telling her to enter the Omni-City Rookie Tournament for more info on Ken, she is now desperate to enter at all costs. All three of her Character cards seem sympathetic to her goal, Guillmon the most, but Korra still gives Sam trouble during duels by not listening to suggestions at all sometimes.

•Dueling Team: Omni-Knights

OP Jared re-do is complete!

  • Name: Jared Walker
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: Dirty blond hair and brown eyes. He generally wears a white shirt, with a black leather jacket over it and dark blue jeans. He also has a pair of converse, the type with that Joker design on the side.
  • Personality: Jared is what you would call a Jerk. He's a real dick now of the time, and he is usually very happy when he gets his way. He can be nice though, as long as he doesn't have a reason not to like you. However, even if he considers you his friend, he'll still tell a lot of jokes at your expense, so any friendships would be subject to a lot of Vitriolic Best Buds.
  • Deck:
    • Character Cards:
    • Action Cards
      • Eagle Claws: Hits all characters on opponents side (Mumkhar)
      • Fire Claws: Deals Fire Damage (Mumkhar only)
      • Poison Claws: Deals Poison Damage (Mumkhar only)
      • Grand Canon: Makes target miss a turn (Mumkhar only)
      • Protego: Blocks attacks its size or smaller (Malfoy and Voldemort)
      • Morsmode: Allows Voldemort to be played (Malfoy)
      • Crucio: Tortures the enemy (Malfoy)
      • Stupefy: Makes the enemy miss a turn (Malfoy and Voldemort)
      • Avada Kedavra: Auto-Kills if it hits. Five Turn recharge. (Elder-Wand Voldemort)
    • Upgrade Cards:
      • Metal Face Mecha: Boosts attack (Mumkhar)
      • Elder Wand: Boosts attack, and allows Avada Kedavra to be cast. (Voldemort)
    • Environment Cards:
      • Sword Valley: Gives Mumkhar offensive turn while active.
  • Bio: A young boy who lived in Omni-City all his life, Jared never really got into supporting either of the cities two teams. He set out to start up his own team, one which would except players from all walks of life (although favouring the ones who could bribe or pay their way in), with the aim of becoming world famous, both for the fame and the money. However, he's only fifteen, so the group hasn't gone far, with only the an abandoned ware house as a base, and no name. However, he's taking part in the tournament to change this, and get recognised as a legitimate duelling team.
  • Team: His own (so far unnamed, and only holding one member).

...That reference is so obscure that I wish it was right. XD. Beckett is the name of an older magazine for card collecters that focused on popular TCG developements, like new pokemon and yu-gi-oh card sets. I used to look through then when I was younger.

  • Duelist Name: Annette McKenzie
  • Age: 17
  • Appearance: High school days.
  • Personality: Passionate and artistic, Annette is always looking for inspiration for sketches and pictures. She's a talented artist and has some fans on the Internet, where she draws under the nickname TwoTailedFox. A big fan of anime, manga and Japanese video games, she draws a lot of fanart. In person, she's a kind and understand person, though one who has problems making the first advance towards other people. She enjoys Omni-Duelling as a hobby, as it helps provide her with inspiration.

  • Deck: Subterranean Animism
    • Character Cards
      • Satori Komeiji: Default attack heartshaped magic bullets
      • Rin Kaenbyou: Default attack claws
      • Utsuho Reiuji: Default attack blast from nuclear arm-cannon
    • Action Cards
      • Satori Komeiji
        • Third Eye: Picks a card from one of the opponents piles for Annette to view, then it is returned to opponent's hand
        • Hypnosis: One opponent monster can not attack the next turn
        • Orin's Cat-Cart: Summons Rin into play
        • Soft-Boiled Egg: Summons Utsuho into play
      • Rin Kaenbyou
        • Zombie Fairies: Summons two Zombie Fairies (token creatures) on the field. These can not attack, but each fairy can block one attack before they die.
        • Carry Away Corpses: One character card from the opponents graveyard can be completely removed from play.
        • Death Sign "Ghost Town": Summons an army of zombie fairies that start shooting magical bullets at the enemy. Strong magical attack. Satori can use this Action Card when Rin is on the field, but it will only deal two thirds damage.
      • Utsuho Reiuji:
        • Subterranean Sun: Damage to all opponent's characters each round.
        • Mega Flare: Fires a series of powerful nuclear blasts. Must recharge next turn.
        • Control Rod: Boosts attack power.
    • Upgrade Cards
      • Satori Shoujo (Satori): Lets Satori see three cards from opponent's hand (but opponent picks which) with Third Eye.
      • Cat Walk (Rin): Rin transforms into her cat-form, increasing her agility and basic attack strength.
      • Yatagarasu (Utsuho): Utsuho takes flight, and can only be damaged by ranged attacks. She also absorbs fire- and nuclear-elemental magic/effects.
    • Environment Cards
      • Hell Of Blazing Fires: All enemy characters take a little damage each turn.
      • Palace Of Earth Spirits: Satori, Rin and Utsuho heal a little each turn.

[up]The only problem I have with your sheet are some Action cards. Can you switch Third Eye's effect to see 1 unplayed card from one of the opponent's piles instead? EX: you pick their Action pile, and they pick one card to show you before placing it back again.

The Death Sign is kind of vague too. Triple and double damage based on what standard? How about you describe what it looks like and does in Touhou, and then just make it do heavy damage if it hits? Change that up, and you're accepted.

THE SLORG!
#88: Jul 5th 2013 at 6:10:08 PM

Alright, here's the initial setup for my character idea. May be subject to some change before we start, but this is the jist of it, I'm thinking. I wrote the deck a little differently because of the way I was thinking through the cards; if it's too confusing I guess I can try to change it to the way everyone else has been doing it.

  • Name: Peter Armin.

  • Age & Gender: 22, Male.

  • Appearance: Overall, a big, tough-looking, strong guy; Peter is not only pretty tall, (around seven feet) but has wide shoulders and large limbs. Caucasian, brown hair kept in a buzz cut, with green eyes. Usually wears a plain grey t-shirt under a brown leather coat, in which he keeps his Omni-reader and deck in inner pockets. Brown cargo pants, black hiking boots, and a pair of shades complete the ensemble.

  • Personality: Peter cares most about stuff like honor, loyalty, and strength of character, though currently has a slightly skewed viewpoint on what that entails. (Intention is for this to be fixed as the RP goes along.) His current choice of "friends" is mainly due to him feeling has has a debt to repay to them. When it comes to duels, Peter thinks that the actual strength and skills of the characters played is what really matters, and looks down on his opponent if they use anything "magical". (This will also change a bit later.)

  • Deck: A multiversal deck based around characters who don't use any kind of magical powers.

    • Character card Johnny Rico of Starship Troopers: (the first movie) Uses his assault rifle as his default weapon, and has combat armor similar to modern military kevlar.
      • Action card built-in shotgun: Allows Johnny to use the shotgun built into the rifle as a secondary barrel; can be used in conjunction with the assault rifle normally.
      • Action card RPG: Allows Johnny to use a powerful one-shot RPG, after which the card is sent to the discard pile. Can't be used in conjunction with the assault rifle. Requires field promotion upgrade.
      • Upgrade card field promotion: Allows the use of the RPG action card and the Whiskey Outpost environment card. Johnny becomes a bit more durable due to upgraded armor, but otherwise is unchanged.
      • Environment card Whiskey Outpost: For the three turn duration, the battlefield is turned into fortified outpost surrounded by open desert, with both sides inside the outpost. Johnny acquires a fire team of troopers (2-4, whatever seems most balanced) who have the same default assault rifle he does. However, the outpost is under assault by a horde of arachnid warrior bugs, who will attack both sides indiscriminately. Requires field promotion upgrade.

    • Character card Imperial Commissar of Warhammer 40k: Uses a las(er) pistol and a one-handed sword in conjunction as his default armaments, and also has a sort of combat armor, but notably his head is unprotected.
      • Action card plasma pistol upgrade: Replaces the Commissar's las pistol for a more powerful plasma pistol. The plasma pistol is especially better at getting through armor.
      • Action card chainsword upgrade: Replaces the Commissar's one-handed sword with a more powerful one-handed chainsword. The chainsword is especially better at quickly tearing through lightly armored or unarmored targets.
      • Action card execution for cowardice: Can only be used while the player has three characters out on the field; when played, the player picks one of the other two characters besides the Commissar. The Commissar then executes that character with his las pistol, immediately killing them. Then the third character, the one not executed, has all of his "stats" doubled for as long as the Commissar is still alive. Can only be used once per duel, and requires the might of the Emperor upgrade.
      • Upgrade card Might of the Emperor: Allows the use of the execution for cowardice action card. The Commissar becomes more zealous, and ignores all effects of pain or fear.

  • Bio:
Peter was introduced to Omni-dueling while still in College, which he started playing as a hobby. Once he started getting a bit better, he started wanting to "up the stakes" to make things more interesting. His favorite challenge, which most people refused on, was that both players place their starting character and all associated cards as the stakes for the match; the winner would take both. Of course, even when he won those matches, he usually didn't take the other person's cards, discrediting them as "weak" for having to use magic. Still, he obsessed with the idea of only expanding his deck by defeating other players, and thus got rid of all his cards except Rico and his action, upgrade, and environment cards. The Commissar is a recent addition, from a player who accepted Peter's bet and lost; Peter took the Commissar since he finally won with that bet against a character who didn't use any kind of magic.

It was during his last year that Peter got introduced to the Limitless Club, who offered him a position in the team in return for some assistance with his failing grades. What he doesn't know is that it wasn't their tutoring that got him through, but rather some record tampering. Now that he's finished college, he's ready to start dueling more seriously and help with tournaments and such.

  • Team: Limitless Club at the start, but will switch sides not to far in after he realizes what lengths his "friends" will go to.

... And yes, I started him with a card he can't use yet. That was intentional.

You could eventually find enough cards to make a second themed deck if you wanted to. Oh and I think one of Guillmon's two branching final Upgrades is OP enough to cancel all Envioronment Cards and start turning the regular field into digital bits by 'merely existing. Downside is, he's completely out of control. That won't be happening until much later though... XD

Actually sort of considering joining this. Would a deck based on Mesoamerican myths be acceptable, or would that be straying a bit too far from the concept?

Uh...I guess it's fine. I accepted the King Author Deck because it was a written media, but if you can make it not OP and give the Characters personalities, then O.K. So that leaves one space left. The first new person to express interest gets to join. Just for reference while i'm gone, try to make decks based on slightly more modern media franchises, just for easier understanding when we get to the actual RP.

Alright, thanks. Hope this is acceptable.

  • Duelist Name: George Guerra
  • Age: 15
  • Appearance: George is a tall, rangy boy of Hispanic descent. He seems frequently uncomfortable in his own skin, as the awkwardness of adolescence still hasn't left him just yet. His hair is a deep, dark brown, cut short and consistently mussed up. He has something of an athletic build, though the effect is offset by his knobby knees and terrible posture. His features could best be described as 'boyish', although the thin, wispy mustache he's currently cultivating seems to offset that a little. His eyes are brown and watery, as if he might burst into tears at any second.
  • Personality: George is a shy, retreating boy, usually only speaking when spoken to and generally trying not to make a nuisance of himself. When he does talk, it's almost never about himself. He's more concerned with the needs of others than his own personal gain. He doesn't make friends very easily, but when he does he sticks to them like glue. Unfortunately, George is also an aweful judge of character, often falling in with the wrong crowd simply out of the need for companionship.
  • Deck: The Thirsting Teotl. Focuses on attack power and raw damage, weakened by over-reliance on buff effects and lack of healing ability. The character cards within tend to be blunt at the best of times, and outright rude at the worst. They speak of themselves rather highly, which is to be expected what with being gods and all.
    • Character Cards:
      • The Black Tezcatlipoca, Enemy of Both Sides, Lord of the Smoking Mirror: God of night and sorcery, Tezcatlipoca is a capricious trickster, wily and unpredictable. He is the king of wind and the master of slaves, ruler of all he surveys. Those who worship him learn to both anticipate and dread his favor, for the Black Tezcatlipoca's intentions are always subject to change, and you never know who he may be favoring. In Omni-Duel, Tezcat tends to shy away from direct confrontation, preferring to harry enemy characters with dreadful spells and dark magics.
      • Tlaloc, He Who is Made of Earth, Bringer of Rain: A god of fertility and rain, Tlaloc provides lifegiving water to his worshipers in exchange for their sacrifice. Though always willing to provide aid to others, such services must always come at a price. Tlaloc is a solemn being, and prefers to be left to his own devices whenever possible. His powers of fertility and health carry over into Omni-Duel, where Tlaloc is severely crippled in terms of offensive power, but is capable of applying minor buffs to other character cards after certain upgrades are provided.
      • Huitzilopotchtli, Hummingbird of the Left, Shepherd of the Mexica: The god of sun and war, Huitzilopotchtli is the champion of the Mexica people. Brash, bold, and blunt, The Hummingbird of the Left wades confidently into battle, with high attack power and defense, but poor evasion and ranged ability. He exults in the thrill of combat, letting out loud whooping cries as he leaps into the fray, ever hungry for his enemy's blood.
    • Action Cards and their possible effects:
      • Ocelotl, the Jaguar Knights: Conjures a small contingent of warriors clad in jaguar skins to fight by Tezcatlipoca's side, creating three low-powered token creatures that lay into the Lord of Night's enemies with jagged macahuitl.
      • Divine Nagual-Spirit Shield: Huitzilopotchtli bursts into a cloud of glittering hummingbirds, avoiding all damage and becoming incapable of attack until the beginning of the next turn.
      • Teotl Tribute-Dreadful Heart: Increases Tezcatlipoca's attack and defense for the next two turns.
      • Teotl Tribute-Hummingird's Due: Increases Huitzilopotchtli's attack power and lowers his defense for the next three turns.
      • Teotl Tribute-Innocent's Ichor:(Upgrade required) Increases Tlaloc's buffing capabilities for the next two turns.
    • Upgrade Cards and effects:
      • Draught of Tears: It is said that Tlaloc quenches his thirst by drinking the tears of young children. With this upgrade, He Who is Made of Earth becomes capable of bolstering his allies in combat with soothing rains and rumbling thunder.
      • Xiuhcoatl, the Solar Serpent: Huitzilopotchtli is granted his legendary weapon, a turqoise atlatl in the shape of a serpent. In addition to increasing his attack power, this upgrade also grants him a potent ranged attack, hurling bolts of shining sunfire at his opponents.
      • Divine Nagual-Tepeyollotl: Tezcatlipoca becomes a swift and powerful jaguar, increasing his attack and evasion at the expense of his defense. Additionally, he loses all ranged capability until the effect is canceled, removing all bonuses and penalties.
    • Environment Cards and benefits to character:
      • Tlalocan, the Drowned Domain: Appearing as a muggy jungle whose skies are perpetually clouded by storms, Tlalocan is the home of those who pass from this world by drowning or disease, and the domain of Tlaloc. Here, the abilities granted by Draught of Tears are doubled, allowing for even greater attack buffs to be laid down.
  • Bio: The son of a Mexican-American businessman, George has never really found anywhere he could call home. His dad's job has led his family all across the country, from city to city to city, always leaving just before George can get comfortable with his new surroundings. Most recently, they've come to Omni City, and George hopes that they'll stay there. In the meantime, he's taken up Omni-Duel as a way to help meet new people.
  • Dueling Team: The Limitless Club
