Actually, I remember that violations of the rule laid out in the commented-out section was the reason for the page lock.
Anyhow, I am not sure whether to have a "recommendations" list as opposed to an "example" list.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhat commented-out section?
"Please do not make any mention or link to the Something Awful forums. There have been, and can be, times when non-members are unable to access them. Wait until the Let's Play is archived."
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI heartily agree with MikuruFan. There's no good reason to keep recommendations on the same page as the index, especially if they are the reason for page locking. If we don't just remove the recommendations section outright (perhaps making pages for some of the LPers that don't have one yet), we should transfer them to Needs More Love or a new page like it.
If we decide to make Let's Play as an index-only page, there wouldn't be a reason for users to link to Something Awful.
I don't like having recommendations at all. A list of Let's Plays is one thing, like any other list we have of works for a genre, but calling them recommendations? That's basically reviews or fanfic recs or something.

Check out my fanfiction!Yeah, I say pull the recommendations and leave it as a straight index.
Pull the recs and unlock the page.
Also, Let's Play is not a trope, it's a type of work. It should not be listed as a trope on work pages, since it's trivia at best from the original game's perspective.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. That's normal. It's like listing Anime on a page for an anime.
I'm with MikuruFan on this one.
Pinball cleanup threadI agree about trasforming the page in an index (for Lets Players who have a page), but I think we should also have a "recommendation" page, not unlike fanfic recommendations. You know, for LP that are not big enough for a whole wiki page, but people still think they are neat to watch.
These would fit pretty well in a given game's Fanfic Recommendations page, I believe.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanGood idea.
I'd be fine with that.
It's be nice to have a consolidated list of recommendations, but I can see how that could be problematic.
I agree with the proposal (and Sept's addendum).
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThat seems like enough support to pull the recommendations. Should this get a Single Proposition crowner?
I would agree with that.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCrowner's hooked.
I like the idea of putting the Let's Play recommendations on the recommendations pages. Maybe we can add other things to those pages that aren't quite fanfic, like MST 3 K recaps.
Video Game Census. Please contribute. That's a good idea. A lot of Let's Plays and Let's Reads end up doing that anyway.
We'd need to add new categories to the recommendation pages.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableAgreed.
10 supports and no opposes to remove the first three folders.
This would sort of make Fanfic Recs into more like "Derivative Works recs".
May have to be an Artifact Title then.
Would such recommendations allow abridged series and such, as long as it's not plain piracy?
Crown Description:
Lets Play currently lists recommendations in the first three folders and a list of works in the fourth.
Currently, the page for Let's Play lists the top Let's Plays from two sites, along with a third folder of listing Let's Plays that tropers liked. All these folders are just reviews of the videos and not really informative in any way.
There is a fourth folder, "Pages for specific Let's Players", an index of Let's Plays that have pages in this site. This is a lot more useful than the lists above.
The page is locked, the reason being listed as edit warring. I assume the edit warring was over the inclusion of certain Let's Players in the first three folders.
Listing content deemed by this and other sites as good or bad is highly nonstandard, subjective, and counter to the purpose of the wiki to list tropes that appear in works. Pages for media like these would list only related tropes and/or a list of works that have pages here.
I propose that the reviews section be excised and keep this as a list of works in the LetsPlay/ namespace, along with unlocking the page.
