Brainstorming/interest checking for a Capcom/Namco/Sega Xover RP

After thinking long and hard, I decided to open this up again in another attempt to see if there are people interested to do a crossover-type RP based on characters from game series/franchises published by Capcom, Namco and Sega. This also includes characters from game series/franchises/etc. that were published by the three companies in certain parts of the world (e.g. Killzone characters are considered to be published by Sega in Japan/Asia before Sony Japan took over. Young Justice: Legacy characters are considered to be published by Namco Bandai Games for Europe, the Middle East and for other PAL countries.)

If and when we get to a discussion on which characters we get to play as, then I think it'll be easier for me to work on the story.

Just a word of advice, this isn't a signup thread. Let's make that point clear. Other than that, feel free to post on your thoughts on this idea that I'm willing to explore again.

I suggest using this in case you got some evidence to suggest a character could work under Capcom, Namco or Sega from a website article or a page to show that you're not joking or anything. It's useful since webpage info can change in a heartbeat. Otherwise, this is useful for webpage archiving or this one.

Some Word of God trivia I found lately, Namco Bandai Games published/distributed Fallout: New Vegas and Sleeping Dogs for Europe, the Middle East, Oceania and other PAL-based countries.

This is already giving me the idea of using the Aliens Versus Predator arcade game from Capcom.

Sure.

There may be a case when two same characters are taken from different worlds. In this case, I suggest clearing it up with each other.

Sure. I made a check and Sega published it, so why not?

I'll also engage to seriously debate on raising Superweight qualifications to Type 4 or not.

Just something to ask aside from the Superweight qualifications.

I'm thinking of two rules to have when the option of a second character is allowed. It's either:

• Use two characters from different companies (e.g. If you use a Capcom character, use someone else from either Namco or Sega).

• The above rule is unfair. Just choose another character, doesn't matter from which company it's from (e.g. It's fine to use characters from the same company).

Thoughts? Violent reactions? Objections?

The Super Weight is a good question. Many of the characters involved in Project X and other crossovers of this nature are higher super weight than you wanted. Kite from dotHack for instance. His Data Drain is an incredibly powerful attack, and it comes with other equally powerful abilities. Project X shows him Gate Hacking from the real world on a computer terminal to teleport a couple dozen people into Cyberspace. (He was trying for The World but the dimensional rifts have their toll.) Yet someone from Resident Evil is considered equal to Kite, Ryu, Megaman X, etc.

If you want to stay true to Project X and the other Crossovers, you should probably be bringing everyone's Power Weight to 4 regardless of who they are or what their powers are in their own universe.

You're right about that, mate.

Watched some more recent walkthroughs made for Project X Zone and it seems that their Superweight powers are increased to make them a bit more stronger than what the canon background for their respective series/franchises portray them to be (except for Mii and Kogoryo obviously).

I'll most likely increase it to 4 should this RP get off the ground. That ought to solve it as a way of being more true to Namco X Capcom and to Project X Zone.

Also, need some outside thoughts on the second character rule that I've been trying to cook up with.

::shrug:: If you want to stop someone from dominating a single franchise, restrict them from choosing two characters from the same franchise/game. Why restrict by company?

I was thinking of something so that the potential character roster can be balanced and fair. Not sure if people would object to that.

Also if people would want to play as bad guys in the respective series, it would work as long as they have a good reason why they'd want to work with the good guys (e.g. Juri joins the heroes in PXZ so that she can beat up Seth really good in the face.)

I agree with the power scaling idea and I don't have a problem with the current character audition limitations. I do have a question though. In the former signup thread, you said that nobody would know each other. Would the characters know of each other, as they do in Project X Zone, or would it be complete ignorance on all sides?

Also, how many people do we need before a new signup thread becomes feasible?

Since I'm watching more and more of PXZ gameplay and cutscenes via youtube, I haven't made the decision yet. I'll need to think about it. I'll maybe have a decision soon.

Also, I guess it would depend on if people made the clear decision on which character to use that we make some progress. Also same with the story. If I can't figure out which characters are involved (since it'll help me with the enemy types), I'll have a hard time doing the story.

But since you made it clear that you're using Ryu, I have a good amount of SF-based enemies that I want to use. Which unfortunately includes the cyborg soldiers from the cheesy SF movie game.

I'm torn three ways between Chun-Li (Street Fighter II), Robert Kendo (Resident Evil 2), and Mikhail Victor (Resident Evil 3)

Although, Capcom Japan does distribute and publish Grand Theft Auto in Japan and East Asia, so is a GTA character a viable choice? If so, then I will go with Toni Cipriani from Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories

Yeah. I did mention that in the first post. As long as the character choice is published by Capcom/Namco/Sega in certain parts of the world like GTA or Young Justice: Legacy, then it's fine.

Just be prepared to show evidence in case there are skeptics. But I already know that, so you're safe.

If someone chooses a Young Justice character, then I can use SPORTSMASTER as a boss character. That and he has a few awesome lines!

As long as I can find out which characters are confirmed, then the story progression can come out quite nicely.

So far, I've got two confirmed characters.

Definitely going with Orlok the Eternal, who starts off as a mini-boss due to a misunderstanding before joining the heroes for answers.

Nice to see some people are getting more interested. Nero would certainly make an interesting character. I see JYB heroness channeled through him, even though I haven't touched DMC at all.

Which makes me wonder if someone chooses the new and old Dante.
