Sakurasou got break-even level sales figures. It would have gotten decent sales had it not changed that one scene to feature a Korean dish (I shit you not, that apparently triggered some xenophobia and lowered its sales projections). There's about 12 episodes of content left based on the anime's pace of 3 episodes per volume, so it would have gotten a second season if it did fine.

Phi Brain, however, sells well, so a season 3's obvious.

[up] It was really more of a question of how Phi Brain sells well. It's just one of those works in which I can't see having that much appeal (PSI Kusou Saiki also comes to mind). Just... strange. I'm usually in tune with what the general audience likes.

Ah, the samgyetang scene? Really sad if that's all that's stopping the show from getting an S2. You'd think the uber-cute girls would more than make up for it. (-_-)

[up] Really? Isn't Phi Brain like Yugioh meets Magi? And they're both doing well.

[up] It's less X meets Y and more just X. I suppose being similar to Yu Gi Oh would indeed help it sell...

Phi Brain has the odd distinction of being populated mostly by unlikeable characters. In Japan, it also airs with a segment detailing how the puzzles work that no one bothered to bring over here. That might affect it a bit.

Phi Brain also happens to be produced majorly by a Japanese TV station called NHK to run on their educational channel NHK-E. They get good ratings for the show and it's popular, thus you see more of it. Comparing it to series funded by disc manufacturers/print publishers is a bad comparison due to the differences in funding.

Found the trailer for the Gaist Crusher 3DS game. Looks like it's a beat 'em up. It appeared that the anime is or more or less an attempt to drum up interest towards the game. As expected since that most kids' anime have 3DS adaptations later on after airing.

[up] I thought Guilty Crown was quite mediocre, but to each his own.

...My God.

They did it. They really did it.

Well, there's something I never expected to see. I may have to actually watch a Pokemon anime for the first time in a decade or so

[up]x3 If this doesn't have Leaft/Blue in it, then it's not worth existing.

BTW, this doesn't look to be an adaptation of Pokémon Adventures (Red's hair is different, and he may be starting with a Charmander instead of Bulbasaur and Poliwhirl).

Never thought I'd watch a Pokemon anime again.

@ Silentedge I don't hate Phi Brain, I just find it 90% mediocre. I did like Freecell's ascension to Big Bad status like a boss.

I do hope they change the formula. Seriously, both S1 and S2 had white-haired pretty boys who are obsessed with Kaito who usurp the position of Big Bad and challenge Kaito to a God's Puzzle that is less a puzzle and more like a bid for attention.

@ Tenzen and L Dragon Wasn't Guilty Crown somewhat popular? Sadly enough, I can understand the appeal... Blegh.

Guilty Crown was legitimately popular for the first half or so, but it hemorrhaged viewers during the second half

So not that Pokémon special certain fans were after.

Still, at least this guy will probably do better than Ash right? Beat the Elite Four?

I'd say it's probable

5x[up] I hope when you say legitimaly popular you don't mean poular for legitimate reasons, cause that would be lie. It was trainwreck from very first episode. I watched it so I would know.

Haters gonna hate, I thought it was okay and the dub's sounding good. Just that Future Diary was way better, that's all.

It sounds like you're talking about an anime, but I see no reference to it.

Perhaps it is something that doesn't actually exist.
