Well, guess you're just not into slice-of-life-ish shows...

But that's not what's happening. Hazama wants to do that, but he can't. It's a slice-of-life about how a teen idol wants to become a hero of justice.

Wrong. Episode 3 had the retired Sentai actor doing the action(Although I'm half sure he didn't go and beat jaywalkers onscreen in that episode), and Episode 4 was Flamenco Girl doing the work. Hazama himself has gotten stronger over time, but he's still very much incompetent. What he does have going is his presence in the media as Samurai Flamenco, and eventually, how he'll go beyond that.
My friend, tell me, does it have more fanservice? Only saw the first two episodes, and seriously, with the really bad voice for the main character, and not enough fanservice, kinda been delaying watching it.*

mention nothing about it being a slice of life although there seems to be no agreement as to what genre it is. It is an anime original so there probably won't be a consensus until after the anime ends.
And btw, Teekyuu is clearly the best anime of the season
Being an urban fantasy does not exclude it from being a slice-of-life. Though to be fair Haruhi is a bad example because it genre-busts so much. (Still people do agree that
it falls under slice-of-life
)
Better examples would be Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, Nichijou, Tatami Galaxy... lots of slice of life with weird elements.
It takes Not What It Looks Like to a rather extreme level.
And yeah, apart from Panty shots and some stripperific armour, there's not that much fanservice. Some, but not that much.

Computation is hard." -Happy EntI'm thinking the fanservice in Walkure Romanze will follow the usual standard: Quite a lot in the beginning, then getting less and less towards the finale, with maybe a breather fanservice ep before that. And heavy fanservice extra episodes. Second seasons also tend to pile it up, since often they've already had the story they wanted and need more padding.
Haruhi is basically slice of life from a certain point of view. Much of it is about regular school stuff. But as a whole, not really.
Teekyuu is one of those that manages to work with the random type of humour. Maybe because it's so fast you don't have time to reflect on how bad it is...
Check out my fanfiction!I found something rather amusing and unusual in Ore No Nounai Sentakushi Ga, Gakuen Lovecome O Zenryoku De Jama Shiteiru in the last episodes. Those unrealistically huge boobs are just that. Not real. Very rarely actually stated.

Isn't that the charm though? It's very calm, slice-of-life even, with various antics by Hazama and the like, tackling on super hero tropes, and just the idea of being a hero. I mean I find it to be one of the best this season, probably along with Log Horizon or Yowamushi Pedal.
