I'm okay with waiting another day or so to get the RP started. I have an idea to flesh out my character more, but I haven't been able to write it down.
Maybe the whole "naming the task force" could be a sub plot and it's named during the RP.
Give the world the best you have and you will get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.@Karl
- Good idea. The task force name subplot is a good idea to have in-universe.
Also, I've been wondering if our characters would have met each other in a UN peacekeeping op before they joined together as a minor subplot.
Time for Philippine geopolitics, so more world building here!
Nothing has changed in terms of politics, except that the Communist Party of the Philippines has reformed with a new generation of leaders vowing to work for social justice after the New People's Army have been defeated, mostly through military deployments. A right-wing party has surfaced, being seen as an extreme party that campaigns for the expulsions of refugees and the permanent expulsion of any foreign troops deployed in Philippine soil, even if it's for training exercises.
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front has been disbanded after greater autonomy was given to the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao with most of its fighters integrated into its police forces. A few are hardliners and have joined up with criminal gangs or have created their own factions to fight for Bangsamoro independence.
A majority of the urban cities have been rebuilt thanks to massive reconstruction efforts with improved road conditions, giving better links between urban and rural areas. A new mass rapid transit system was created to replace the pre-war LRT/MRT systems linking the cities (At least in Metro Manila and in Cebu), based on the Malaysian mass rapid transit system. It's created as a part of the Philippine government's Strong Republic Transit System. The University of the Philippines Diliman Automated Guideway Transit System is going strong, creating a transit system for the university. Jeepneys and motorized tricycles still continue to exist.
Even though living standards continue to improve, there is still a lower class that continues to suffer as they didn't receive the benefits of the growing economy. Left-wing parties continue to campaign for better benefits on their behalf.
Cyberization has made little headway into the Philippines due to conservative views from some sections of the public, including the various Christian denominations, Islamists and Buddhists who oppose widespread use of prosthetics for mainly religious reasons, although there are others who challenge the use of prosthetics for anti-cyberization reasons with extremist factions willing to use violence to target corporate officials and their families, government officials, celebrities/media personalities and diplomatic personnel who are known to support cyberization. The Philippines, alongside Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand (except Papua New Guinea, Singapore and Vietnam, the only three countries that accepted widespread use of prosthetics), has seen little promotion of prosthetics in Southeast Asia aside from those who are in need of it for medical reasons. A few elite law enforcement units have allowed its personnel to use prosthetics if it would help them in their job. Rumors abound that the Philippine military host a few all-cyborg military units without much confirmation.
Androids are openly sold in the Philippines, though only for the most part as servants, drivers, tour guides and assistants. The black market is covertly selling combat-ready androids to criminal and terrorist groups. There are plans to introduce robotic pets, mostly for companionship with others sold as guard dogs.
Expats, both foreigners and Filipinos who have been living abroad for years with either dual or foreign citizenship, have also made the real estate market profitable, especially since Global City has a big construction boom in creating high-rise apartment buildings and residence-style hotels for locals and foreigners who have cash in their pockets to buy a unit for themselves or for their families.

Depends if the cop's reputation is so good that the top brass is willing to overlook it. Of course, there would be those who don't like that kind of reputation.
Which country is he coming from though?
Looks like the task force is gonna be made up of cops and an intelligence agent.

Alright, hopefully this will work.
- Name: Ramon de Vargas
- Age: 17
- Skills: An expert hacker, espescially for his young age. He has gone through a week of boot camp to get him ready for the task force so he's not totally incompetent with firearms and combat. He's just not that good. Hacking is his forte.
- Appearance: Typical Fillipino looking boy with a Led Zeppelin T Shirt on and some khaki shorts. He's short and his hair has been cut down to a buzz.
- Equipment: His trusty iBook G4 laptop. It's old but it gets the job done. He also has a government issue handgun with a holster on his belt.
- Ramon had always been great with computers. However, when he and some others decided to hack into the Phillipines National Police website and replace the recruitment info with cookiee recipes, he was caught. However, the government made him a deal. If he joined a little task force, then they'd clear his record. He agreed and the rest, as they say, is history.
Just put that status of his in the signup sheet and he'll be good to go, FL.
For story purposes, which regular unit was he posted in prior to task force transfer?
I won't accept him being in a SF unit since he's way too young.
And yeah, I need his Army rank. Reference is here too for starters.
I'll probably lampshade his age too in-story.

- Name: Manuel Mendoza
- Appearance: Exactly like this.
Except not really, since he'd be wearing regular Special Ops gear. He has robot arms that are flat black, and black eyes with little sensors in them. His skull's got some metal bits in it from the surgeries, but they aren't visible due to his hair, which is artificial, covering it.
- Age: 31
- Citizenship: Dual Mexican/Filipino.
- Background: Born in Mexico City, Manny joined the Army and became part of the Drug War. One day, shortly after a raid of a cartel leader's compound in Tijuana, they were betrayed by a traitor, and were ambushed at their station. Mendoza was shot in the back of the head and left for dead. When he woke up six months later, he vowed to kill that Cartel leader no matter what, only to find out a rival gang had already killed him. Went to the Philippines to clear his head, because his Dad was from there so it was basically the only place he could visit for an extended period of time. Then he got put onto this Task Force.
- Skills: Army training, weapons proficiency (not a sniper or anything, though), infiltration, and most importantly, he can drive a stick shift.
- Status: Cyborg. Has robotic arms and eyes, with his brain patched up with robo-bits. The unique part of his arms is the wrists, which are capable of detaching, and are connected by a 30-meter carbon nanotube wire. The wire's nigh-indestructible, but the winch mechanism in each wrist is limited. It draws the hands back in at around 10m/s with just the hand, and about 2m/s for loads up to 500 pounds.
- Comments: Can't think of anything right now.

Oh yeah, I'll join, I'm just trying to think of a dude still.
