She looks okay, so she's in mate.
Though I'm expecting a rank from her if she's a NCO.

Just wondering if you peeps would like to discuss the geopolitics of this world I'm building? It could help those who want to make their own characters for this RP:
@Karl
- Maybe this chart can help you flesh out Penny even more. Since she's a marksman, I'd wager her to be a female Special Action Force operator.
I was thinking maybe another incident with the hacker/terror group with Penny could give her her current prosthetics.
The botched raid with Mark will make it a very important event for him so as to make it personal. Of course, you're welcome with the suggestion too if you want so that the two task force operatives have a common enemy. Anyway, I'm sure we can work something out.
Also, the task force doesn't have a name in-universe since they're still being established.
And because of that, most of their gear is taken from the proceeds of criminals, such as vehicles that are modified with bulletproof properties.
Task force operatives will have a standard sidearm, but they can choose their own, depending if they have enough money to spend on. They'll have a certain amount of money given to them to spend on their needed stuff.
Note that I'm going to use real-life stuff in the RP, but I probably will use stuff from cyberpunk/post-cyberpunk franchises as nods/shout outs.
As of now, the task force consists of the following units:
- Headquarters
- Bomb Disposal
- Forensics (Physical/Digital/etc.)
- Intelligence
- Maintenance
- SWAT (No name yet)
- Technical Support
- Training
Geopolitics of the world will come next.

Not really. The divisions mentioned is the structure of the task force, not where your character is based since I'm assuming that players are going to be playing agents who are well-rounded similar to GSG9 since they are trained in all manners from special forces tactics to classic detective investigation.
These two songs from Homestuck were pretty good, but the first one's a bit long for the full thing to be considered a theme song.
Well that's good to know in terms of clarity.
The opening post (Depends on when I get around it) will start with a flashback. Not sure if Karl will have one too, but everyone will be summoned to an unmarked building in Global City for a first meeting in the task force's formation.
Followed by their first case.
While we wait for Nman and randomtropeloser to see if they'll join the RP... It's time for Geopolitics 101!
(Professor hat on)
Allow me to explain briefly the geopolitics that are in place as of 2038. Note that these changes don't reflect any personal views for these things to actually happen in reality.
Note that these aren't final and are subject to future changes in future brainstorming with input from GM and/or players/outside assistance.
North America:
- North America has been hit badly by the war, but not too seriously unlike in Europe. This resulted in the creation of several nations, which consisted of the former American states/Canadian provinces of Alaska, Hawaii, Quebec and Texas.
- Puerto Rico has voted for an independent country after a referendum vote was submitted thanks to a number of protests due to "Discriminatory redistribution" policies the United States implemented as a means of recovering from the damages of WWIII. It has a small defense force while it kept its police system.
- Cuba has undergone a change in government and is now a democratic country.
South America:
- Guiana is now an independent country after a referendum vote showed an overwhelming support.
Europe:
- Ireland has unified with Northern Ireland under a referendum vote. Anti-unification violence by fringe elements of the Ulster Defense Association gave more conviction to the pro-unification camp after the British Army withdrew from Northern Ireland. UN-mandated police forces were deployed to the area to work with PSNI forces in order to quell the violence.
- The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has unified with the rest of Cyprus after a peace treaty was signed between Cyprus and Turkey. Some hardliners in Turkish politics have protested this move.
- Kosovo's independence was fully recognized by all nations after years of UN-assisted administration with the exception of Serbia. Hardliners in Serbia have called for the occupation and integration of Kosovo under Serbian rule.
- Various de facto states in Azerbaijan and Georgia have been officially unified.
- Sardinia and Sicily have received greater autonomy from the Italian government, allowing them to greatly preserve their language and culture.
- The Azores still maintains full autonomy from Portugal, although there have been new political parties that have called for full independence.
Oceania:
- French Polynesia and New Caledonia are independent with 89% of the vote for the former and 78% for the latter, although they do not have militaries. Instead, they rely on paramilitary police forces.
- Northern Mariana Islands has voted for independence in a referendum vote with 90% of the vote. The NMI also relies on paramilitary police forces.
- American Samoa has voted for unification with the rest of Samoa in a referendum vote with 99.7% of the vote.
Asia:
- Renegade Chinese Communist Party officials took advantage of the Asian War to launch an invasion of Taiwan in order to prevent its leaders from gaining independence. The Hong Kong and Macau SARs reacted violently to the attempted invasion, declaring independence while being able to drive out PLA forces with urban guerrilla tactics before the city-states have achieved independence as well. An American-led invasion force drove Chinese forces from Taiwanese soil, which resulted in the country's official independence.
- West and East Timor has unified, keeping the official name "Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste".
- The Republic of South Maluku has gained independence when Indonesia has been affected by the Asian War as direct rule from Jakarta ceased to exist at the time, allowing South Maluku independence groups to gain control over the area. Fierce fighting started after the end of the Asian War for 3 years before international pressure made Jakarta yield.
- West Papua has seceded from Indonesia from a referendum vote that has overwhelming support, unifying with the rest of Papua New Guinea. It also keeps the official name "Independent State of Papua New Guinea".
Africa:
- Somalia has unified together with most of the fragmented "states", including Puntland and Jubaland after years of fighting resulted in the destruction of Al-Shahab. They were also given more autonomy over local affairs under federal rule.
- The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic has integrated with Morocco after the Moroccan government allowed them full autonomy over their own affairs. Ex-Sahrawi People's Liberation Army forces have regrouped together under a new organization and fight for full independence for Western Sahara.
- Azawad's independence was not recognized by Mali or by the rest of the international community. Sporadic fighting continues to persist.
Hope you guys enjoyed the brief lesson.
(Professor hat off)
@Karl and @Spark 260
- You guys want to start the game even though it's just the three of us or should we wait for a few more days to see if more people are interested.
I guess I need to discuss 2038 Philippines in the next world building post.
Tentative title is "Task Force" since no one objected.

- Name: Penelope Santos, Police Officer II
- Appearance: Penelope, or "Penny" as she's sometimes called, is about average height, with tan skin and long, brown hair that she ties back in a ponytail. Her most distinctive features are her eyes and arms. Her left eye is brown, but her right eye is red and has no pupil. Both of her arms are cybernetic: They are light in color, which contrasts with her natural skin color, and have visible joints.
- Age: 26
- Citizenship: Filipino
- Background: Penny was born in a small town, in a poorer neighborhood. Due to a birth defect, she was born without arms below the elbow and has relied on crude prosthetics for most of her life. In order to better herself and help take care of her family, she worked several odd jobs which culminated in trying out for he local police force. During firearms training, it was found that she could hold a gun almost perfectly motionless due to her prosthetics. She was immediately recommended for the Philippine National Police, which meant better pay for her, so she accepted. The first chance she got, she upgraded her prosthetics. Unfortunately, during a mission, she lost the use of her right eye, which she was quick to replace with cybernetics.//
From there, she only got better, and quickly became one of the top marksmen in the South Pacific, if not the world. An additional note: Penny's arms are not just connected to her stumps, they completely cover the stumps and shoulders, and connect to each other around her torso.

Give the world the best you have and you will get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.
