Check this and check this to see the basis of this planned RP.

The gist of this is that characters from Namco, Capcom, SEGA and Square Enix are brought together in order to defeat a big bad villain from destroying their worlds.

Naturally, all characters published by these said companies are the main criteria. This also extends to characters who are from published gaming companies that has a different publisher in Japan/Asia. (e.g. A character from the GTA series can qualify since Capcom published it in Japan/Asia.) Also, all characters must be Type 3 and below to be fair with everyone.

Any question on whether the character qualifies, feel free to ask.

Suggestion on the RP title is greatly welcomed and I encourage it. RP rules such as no godmodding apply here.

This is another attempt for me to get my GM ball rolling if I can.

If you need help to decide which character to use, I advise checking these links for the following games made/published by Capcom, Namco (Namco Bandai) and Sega.

Capcom games made/published.

Namco games made/published, Namco Bandai games made/published, Bandai Namco games made/published, Namco Bandai Games America games made/published.

Sega games made/published, Segasoft games made/published.

For characters taken from games published by multiple publishers (e.g. The Getaway was published by Capcom, then by Sega), I'll categorize the characters as being from the latest publisher. (e.g. A character taken from the Getaway is "considered" as a Sega character) Same goes for games not published anymore by Capcom, Namco or Sega (A Killzone character can be considered to be a Sega character even if Sony Japan publishes the other Killzone games in Japan and in Asia).

If anyone wants to use another character later on, my request is that you use someone published by a different company to be fair (e.g. If you use a Namco character, choose someone published by Capcom or Sega).

Character sheet:

  • Name: Obvious.
  • Appearance: An image is nice.
  • Company: Which company is responsible for publishing the character. (e.g. Blanka from Capcom)
  • Universe: Important for characters that may come from different universes.
  • Backstory: Before he/she/it got involved with the RP.
  • Skills: What skills does the character have?
  • Comments: Anything you need to add?

Two questions.

1. Is Akuma overpowered if I ignore his Cutscene Power to the Max shenanigans?

2. For Street Fighter characters, are we using the Japanese or American naming system (i.e. is PSYCHO CRUSHER dude M. Bison or Vega)?

1. Probably. Plus, he's Type 4. I don't know if it would be fair to use him unless people don't mind and I can make him an exception. He's been a bad guy in NxC before...

2. For Street Fighter-based characters, I prefer the worldwide naming basis instead of the one used in Asia (e.g. M. Bison for the cape-wearing dictator, not Vega).

Alright. I'm writing up an audition for Ryu.

  • Name: Ryu

  • Appearance: Heyo.

  • Company: Capcom

  • Universe: Street Fighter (IV specifically, before meeting Gouken).

  • Backstory: Ryu was adopted by the Ansatsuken master Gouken after he had been found abandoned as an infant. It didn't take long for Gouken to decide to make Ryu his disciple, and training began as soon as Ryu was old enough to withstand it. During Ryu's childhood, Gouken also took on Ken Masters, the son of one of Goukens dearest friends, as an apprentice. Ryu and Ken bonded almost immediately, forming an unbreakable friendship and rivalry that would spur them both on for the rest of their lives.

When Ryu turned 23, Gouken decided his students were ready to test their skills in the world. Taking his words to heart, they both entered the World's Warrior tournament, an event hosted and championed by the King of Muay Thai, Sagat. Ryu managed to best all of his opponents, eventually meeting the one-eyed giant in the finals. It was a ferocious match, but things took a turn for the worse at the very end. Ryu, backed into a corner by Sagats power and skill, accidentally awakened the Satsui no Hado withing him. This gave him a tremendous power boost, but also removed all restraint. Ryu used the Metsu Shoryuken and, empowered by the Satsui no Hado, gave Sagat a diagonal scar across his chest that would never disappear.

Horrified by what he had done, Ryu cut his journey short and returned home in order to consult with his master. However, when he arrived there, he found that Gouken had apparently been murdered by his brother Akuma. He set out to confront his masters killer, eventually finding him on the island of Gokuentou. After a vicious battle, Akuma reveals that he had just been testing Ryu, and found him wanting. However, Akuma also felt the Satsui no Hado within Ryu, and would devote much time trying to make Ryu succumb to it in order to have a worthy opponent. Akuma then demonstrates the Satsui no Hados power by destroying the island with a single punch.

After he swam back to civilization, Ryu was despondent and full of self-doubt. He went to Ken and spared with him, and lost soundly. Ken, unable to bare seeing his friend so desolate, gave Ryu his red headband. Ryu, greatly touched, would proceed to wear that headband for a great many years to come.

Soon after, Ryu met Sakura Kasugano, a highschooler who had watched Ryu during the World Warrior tournament and became his fan. She insisted that he train her, while he insisted that he still had far too much to learn himself, and eventually Sakura settled for a promise that she would get him to teach her eventually (and a picture).

Ryu continues his travels and is eventually found by Sagat, who held a grudge against Ryu for the scar across his chest. Sagat demanded a rematch, and though he tried to avoid it because he believed Sagat to still be injured, Sagat forced the issue until he had no choice but to defend himself. Ryu lost on purpose, and parted ways with the King of Muay Thai believing the matter settled.

Two years after his second confrontation with Sagat, Ryu finds himself still troubled over the whole Akuma situation. He soon ran into a mysterious woman named Rose (who is actually Bison's good side) who tells him that if he confronted Bison, he wouldn't be able to win without "sacrificing his soul". Ryu, unable to simply allow Bisons attrocities to continue, challenged the dictator anyway. He lost soundly, and Bison began to brainwash Ryu with his Psycho Power (which he was able to do because his power resonated with Ryu's Satsui no Hado).

Before the brainwashing could be completed, Bison and Ryu are found by Ken, Sakura, and Sagat. While Ken and Sakura had come because Rose had told them the score and they were worried for their friend/hero, Sagat came because he realized that Ryu had been holding back two years ago and he wanted a real rematch. Subsequently, while Ken and Sakura attacked the Psycho Dictator to defend Ryu, Sagat confronted the half-controlled Ryu himself. After a brief fight, Sagat manages to talk Ryu back to his senses. Ryu then battled Bison once again, and defeats him. Bisons Psycho Power had been tearing his body apart already, so when Ryu landed the final blow (the Shin Shoryuken, which is weaker than it could have been because Ryu hadn't mastered it yet), the stress was too much, and the Dictator died (this is notable because Ryu has never felt guilt for this, probably because it's Bison).

Sometime after parting ways with his friends and Sagat, Ryu entered the second World Warrior tournament. After many hard battles, he eventually made it to the finals, where he discovered his final opponent was none other than a revived M. Bison. The battle was a long and difficult one, Ryus Hado barely able to match Bisons Psycho Power. However, before the battle could truly finished, Akuma emerged and killed Bison again with the Shun Goku Satsu. It briefly appeared that Akuma was going to challenge Ryu, but he ultimately decided that Ryu was not yet ready.

A few years later, Ryu enters the third World Warrior tournament, both to test his skills and to see his friends again. After having a rematch with Ken and giving Sakura some advice and encouragement, Ryu finally met his opponent for the semifinals: Sagat. In the time since the two warriors had seen each other, Sagat had become able to let go of the hatred and resentment that had been dogging him ever since his first defeat, and he challenged Ryu to fight one last time in order to rid all bad blood between them. Even though Ryu won, neither warrior held anything back, and so Sagat left for home, having at last found his closure.

Ryu had been traveling to the place where the final round was to be held when he was suddenly swept up by an irresistible force and deposited into a world he did not recognize. With no other options, he put one foot in front of the other, and began to search for a way home.

  • Skills: Ryu is one of the most accomplished martial artists from his world, having trained under arguably the World's Strongest Man for most of his life. He has the skill, strength, and tenacity developed over a lifetime of fighting. He is able to manipulate the Hado, an energy similar to ki that only a few possess. He is also able of forming a unique "flame" Hadoken, which is stronger than a regular Hadoken but weaker than the Shinku Hadoken. Ryu also has the Satsui no Hado within him, a source of great and terrible power. However, because he is both honorable and just a good person all around, he despises the Satsui no Hado and will never willingly use it. Also, he has very tough feet, because he walks barefoot everywhere.

  • Comments: The last paragraph of his bio is for the RP; it never happens in SFIV. Just wanted to clarify that in case it wasn't clear. Also, in order to clear up any internal power level problems, I'm just going to post my own headcannon for the strength of some of Ryu's super moves. It goes Shin Tatsumaki Senpu Kyaku—>Shin Hadoken—>Unmastered Shin Shoryuken—>Metsu Hadoken—>Metsu Shoryuken—>Denjin Hadoken (which he doesn't know yet)—>Mastered Shin Shoryuken (which he also doesn't know yet). I think the Shoryuken techniques are stronger on the whole than those of the Hadoken because Ansatsuken seems to lean more towards the former (looking at you Ken). As for the Shin Shoryuken thing...the Shin Shoryuken was his strongest move in the Alpha games, then he switches it out for the Metsu Shoryuken in IV before switching back in III. If you disagree with any of this, please say so.

I wish to point out that in the RP, characters who appeared in Namcox Capcom and Projectx Zone won't know each other. This RP is not a sequel to the two games.

I need to more about Project X first. Namely, I need to know how dotHack gets into the story. :P

Well if you know some resources on the storyline that would help. :P.

I'll try. But all I know is that an artifact was stolen, which allowed dotHack characters to get warped to the real world.

In a nutshell, time/space shenanigans happen that drag a whole bunch of people from their worlds to the real world. Some of their villains (most likely the main and/or most personal ones) go along for the ride, form the injustice league, and be general douchemongers.

Are you a bad enough bracelet to turn them all into corrupted data?

Your Ryu sheet looks fine, so he's in.

I've to decide if I'll use a psychic soldier on the run, a gangster and part-time amateur boxer, A SO19 operator with a history of being problematic *

or an ex-Balkan War veteran with PTSD who moved to America and participated in criminal activities.

Yes, these characters have been published by Capcom and Sega before.

Your character choices bring up an interesting point, actually. How are guns being handled in the RP? Since all characters have to be Type 3 or below, characters with guns (or entire god damn armories in their pockets coughChrisandJillcough) could become insanely broken depending on how realistically it's handled.

Only thing to do is to have what would be reasonable. Not to have every small arm that they're walking armoires.

Of course, a few characters would be exempted like Imca from Valkyria Chronicles since she literally is one.

Going to post this now. I've played a lot of good guy characters/good guy-like characters. So it's time to pump it up and play someone who's done a lot of actions/decisions that are seen as criminal/morally questionable at best.

I'll save Nick Scryer as a potential secondary character later on unless someone decides to use him. I'd like to use Vector as a secondary, but I'll try using Eddie instead.

Let me know whatacha think about this.

  • Name: Eddie O'Connor
  • Appearance: What are you looking at me for, you bloody muppet?!
  • Company: Sega (For Japan/Asiawide release, the game was published by Sony for the Americas, Europe and Oceania)
  • Universe: The Getaway: Black Monday, after Jackie, Sam and Mitch survive.
  • Backstory: Eddie was born and raised at the Bethnal Green district in Eastern London. He began to take up amateur boxing when he was seven years ago, being known at the amateur boxing world as one of the best. Unknown to most people, he worked for his coach Danny West in a part-time robbery crew. Things changed for him when he got involved with a robbery that went horribly wrong, which resulted in his capture with the massacre of his crew. This resulted in his roaring rampage of revenge against the Skobel Gang alongside Sam Thompson, a teenaged computer hacker who helped him to take down Viktor Skobel in a shootout. Due to the many deaths attributed to him, including the deaths of police officers who were killed in Eddie's quest for revenge, Eddie was forced to evade the police by hiding overseas while Sam was taken into custody by the London Metropolitan Police. Currently, he took up a false name and legend in Asia. Eddie has been on the run ever since, settling down in the Philippines as a security contractor as a means of moving on from his criminal past.
  • Skills: He's trained primarily in boxing, being an amateur boxer at a young age, which allows him to use it for close quarters situations. Eddie is familiar in handling most small arms due to his part-time criminal career. Eddie is also taking up other martial arts lately as well.*
  • Comments: The only thing different here is that Eddie is on the run. For that, I'm giving him the new career of being a security contractor with a false name. For that, he'll start out wearing Hyperstealth Spec4ce Arid clothing (BDU and ballcap), a tac vest, Kulitkraf BRSM 9308 tac boots with a drop leg holster. Eddie is armed with a Saudi-made MIC G36K with a Bundeswehr-made 3x reflex sight attached on top with a 2-round burst trigger group and a Caracal F pistol. Of course, he'll use his fist and feet when appropriate.

While waiting for any interested parties, I could at least discuss what would take place when this RP starts in terms of the scenarios, depending on how many people sign up.

I'll also brainstorm what will happen and what could happen as well.

In the tradition of Namcox Capcom and Projectx Zone, I probably will give people (At least majority) the opportunity to meet in some spot before they get warped to a different place.

Of course, this'll depend on how many people will signup.

Still considering this. On a side note, if you really consider every game they've published, The main Mario franchise characters are available. Mario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Bowser, etc. Because Mario Kart GP was released by Namco/Bandai, an arcade game. I've even played it when I lived in Japan. :P

Nice! Thanks for the heads up, mate.

Although I read that Namco developed the game and not published it since Nintendo Japan did it. But if someone can make the argument that Mario characters can be included in the Namco character choice lineup, then I'm willing to consider anyone who would want to choose Mario or Luigi for example.

Just saying. tongue

As an example, Fate stay/Night characters are allowed since Capcom published Unlimited codes for the arcade, PS2 and PSP. Although Shirou and Rin would be allowed since they are Type 2 and below in terms of skills and powers IIRC and Servants are usually Type 4.
