Getting to watch this with my parents and watch as they pretend they didn't vote for him.
Hey, at least they realized the f*ck up they did, it's more than I can say of most of my family.
Not my parents, though, thankfully.
I don't drink, so my drink of choice is merely the taste of vomit that overcomes my taste buds every time I see Bolsonaro talking.
The sad part is truly that was all expected. Many said this "a good criminal is a dead criminal" policy would end up drenched in innocent blood, but nobody listened and still now, few really care.

The thing is: it has always ended up like that. Many innocent people regularly die in the middle of conflicts like this. This is the current case, which unfortunately will be forgotten as soon as the next press cycle begins. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it this time.
I wish. "It was this or PT", is what I'm probably going to hear. People vote, then forget about it even as the shitstorm unfolds. I mean, I have made mistakes like this in the past, but at least I have the honesty to admit them and try to vote better next time.
EDIT: Crap, now I'm sounding so down. But yeah, hard to be upbeat in time like these.

In that sense, the main problem with Bolsonaro voters is their complete naiveté. They can't possibly imagine a worse government than PT, unaware of the fact that it can always get worse.
People die in those crossfires, but studies show the numbers have skyrocketed between last year and now, and with them, a increasing number of innocents. Even O Globo is talking about it.
Idle thought/follow up to my previous post: While I don't deny his faults or the fact that his successor's tenure was filled with issues, the Lula presidency is probably the best the country has been economically for several decades and certainly a dream compared to the mess we have now. I still remember when the real was only half the dollar's value, in comparison to the measly quarter it is now. For certain people who claim to only care about money though that fact seems to evade them completely.
And that's without even going into the widespread programs to help people get out of starvation and poverty.
That's the biggest reason most of the right seems to hate him, going off what Bolsonaro's supporters in my family say.
But on the subject of our dearest Presidente, he's being warmly received in New York with protests and boos.
BTW is the Brasil 247 reliable? Google News been feeding me links from them for a while.

It also ties into the other reason they hate him, which is classism against Lula himself, because he comes from a poor working class background and has a gruff, "rough" way of speaking. In the upper middle class circles I grew up in it was very common to make fun of him for that. Which is funny in retrospect because most of those people voted for Bolsonaro, who is far more crass and incoherent.
What fanaticism without some good ol' hypocrisy, right?
Brasil 24/7 unabashedly wears its left-leaning opinion on its sleeves (you could call it a counterpart to O Antagonista, which is a conservative cesspool, with the caveat that O Antagonista is literally a conservative propaganda machine funded by them) but otherwise it is broadly accurate as long as you keep that in mind.

Welp, I thought I had escaped the discourse, but it naturally came on the news after my parents and I have had lunch. Well, I voiced my complaints as I heard it (and it was mostly stuff we have discussed here already) and things went pretty chill. So that was that.
Oh, hi Kusa, I know you from the Kamen Rider thread, wasn't aware that you also lived in the Principality of Brazil. As for the rest, it's good to know all of you, my fellow men.
Now that my little introduction is over: I knew from the very start that this government was going to be a mess, but honestly? I'm shocked, it's only his first year in office and people are already revolting against their promised messiah; let's not even get into how his "anti-crime policy" is (ironically) helping the growing influence of pro-goverment paramilitary militiamen that are ruining low-income neighborhoods (Maduro's Coletivos, anyone?) and how Twitter is an online Civil War simulator at this point. I'm really, really curious to see how "Bolsonaro 2022" is going to transpire, if it even happens.

Even mother nature is already revolting. We're not even six months in and there's already been two of the greatest biological disasters in Brazilian history simultaneously (the Amazon fires and the oil spill in the Northeast).
Worst part is a lot of people still support him. I regularly run into Bolsonaro car stickers when I'm about town. Despite the fact that he's yet to do anything remotely beneficial for the country.
Sup, Crow! Welcome to the club. I gotta say, this thread is good for finding fellow BR Tropers and for venting about local stuff.
Took this taxi yesterday. I mean, most of the drivers I pick usually have a poor record in this regard, but the guy spent the next few minutes basically roasting the entire Bolsonaro family (but mostly Eduardo). Not sure if he was disillusioned or wasn't really fond of them in the first place. Either way, tip more than deserved at the end, haha
One indigenous warrior killed and another wounded by illegal loggers.
If it makes you feel better, even among the police, Bolsonaro is losing support. Both for being more of the same corrupt shit we had before and for failing to push forward his "promises" to invest more in security.
Apparently Lula is going to get out of prison soon.
Oh man... Things are going to get exciting, to say the least.

So the judge who sent Bolsanoaro’s political rival to jail is now Bolsanaro’s justice minister?
I mean, it's Bolsonaro. He doesn't understand the concept.
Anything to take PT down, right?
Or should I say "taokei"?
It is now official:
Guess who's back? Back again, Lula's back, tell a friend...
Release the Kraken.
