If a character design deviates even a little from what people are used to seeing, expect complaints.

I personally don't think it's a big deal either way.

[up]Right.

I get it. You're changing the silhouettes of recognizable characters. You're gonna get some flack.

But Knuckles being beefy? I'll say it again, but it's perfectly reasonable to me.

^^ Absolutely.

^ To be honest, that's the only thing that bugs me about the new silhouettes - caricatured character designs like that sometimes aren't a good sign. But we'll see, from the description the show looks like it's going to be alright.

Though I'm currently wrestling with depression over my own Sonic script basically being toilet paper now, I'm still cautiously excited about what we're going to get from this.

Read through that article. Dave Polsky's name wasn't mentioned.

Should be some nice speedy action scenes.

[up]True, but the fact they he was mentioned in rumors along with a new show could be an indication of something. They don't need to mention writers after all.

Alrighty then, let's see what the production company has done.

-Checks the company's website-

Well... they have done work on Xiaolin Chronicles. Other than that, none of their other works seem to catch my interest. Let's just see what they can do.

EDIT: On the bright side, it's an action-comedy. I always wanted to see a Sonic action-comedy. I just felt that a Sonic cartoon will work well as an action-comedy. Before you ask, I haven't seen the other Sonic cartoons/animes yet. So, I don't know how those work out.

EDIT 2: Mods, change the title. ;)

he's always had fingers. it's just that he's been wearing mittens up until now.

Thank you. Seriously, the whole "OMG KNUCKLES HAS FINGERS!!11!11!!" is ridiculous. It was when the fan film was released, and it is now. What did you think he had under those mittens? Arm stubs?

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.

The Knee-jerk reactions are quite hilarious to say the least.

I'm starting to think the Internet is right about Sonic fans...

[up] Sonic fans can get extremely whiny (seriously, you have no idea how deep the butthurt goes for some), but you have to admit that the it's weird that the designs look so different when the iconic looks of the characters are established. Knowing how badly videogames tend to get along with more passive media, it seems a little ominous. Like they're trying to make the characters "contemporary" which usually results in something laughable that will be dated a year after production.

It'd be like a Mario cartoon where everyone's a teenager and the classic outfits are replaced with "edgy" hoodies and skateboards.

[up][up]My problem isn't so much with the change itself, but rather people's reactions. On the designs themselves, I can't really comment too much because of the lack of detail and information, with the biggest change of course being Knuckles.

Now its pretty obvious Sega have Flandrized his character into the stereotypical Dumb Muscle character, and with the focus on comedy, probably wanted his design to reflect that. Now mind you, I do not agree with that change at all, but based on that alone I don't see too much wrong it.

Of course, if they were smart they would just keep the designs the same just to avoid the complaining.

Personally, I don't think complaining about the designs is worth it yet when literally all we've seen are their shadows on a rock. When we actually see the designs, that's when we can comment on it.

Now, I will balk at it being a CG animated series. I won't bore you with a huge rant about it, but that's leaving me with a decidedly "meh" reaction, especially since the vast majority of CG animated comedies I've seen just don't work very well (aside from a different kind of comedy). The sense of timing that all those cartoons I've seen have is always just off enough to kill the humor for me. Now, if they make the comedy really talky, that can maybe work, or if they have really skilled animators, that might work too. In fact, lemme see what the company making this has also made...

  1. "Which Is Witch" (2013) ... Production Company

Ah! One previous series! Which just started this year! That inspires confidence.

(Also, I notice it's a French animated series. You know what other video game series had a French CGI cartoon?)

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

Funny thing is, with CG cartoons, I usually feel that, when they're good, they're good despite being CG. I never felt like being CG contributed to their appeal at all. It can look good, but usually doesn't.

That said, i reserve judgement until I see it in motion.

The problem people had was more of an over-reaction than anything. It wasn't that he had fingers, his mitten/boxing gloves were made into regular gloves which looks weird to people.

Wait, this is a real thing? I though it was just a rumor. Interesting. I hope it's good. The episodes are only eleven minutes though?

@Knuckles: I couldn't care less about the fingers. I'm more surprised by how big he is. His build is more like Storm's although I guess it makes sense.

I did not like the idea of it being CG at first, but then I remembered how good TMNT 2012 is, and how fluid the animation gets, even with the restrictions of being a CG show.

Wow. THIS BETTER BE GOOD. I mean, CN? Really? I was expecting it to go on the Hub due to Dave and the likes, but CN? What? Was Nicktoons too deep up Saban's ass to gain a respectful licensed character? THIS BETTER BE F**KIN' GOLDEN! Sorry, needed to get that off my chest, but at least i'm not complaining about Knuckles redesign like how Steven Universe viewers hate the character's reimagining.[lol]
