I feel really neutral regarding that movie.
"When I offered to make Norea my third back-up girlfriend she just glared at me and started throwing things at me.." Renee CostaThanks, Doug, for bashing Mushu.
I never saw Mulan II but I found Mushu extremely obnoxious in the 1998 movie. I don't even consider Mushu as comedic relief. I consider the rest of the Mulan movie to be dramatic relief from that annoying dragon.
I wonder if Doug will ever talk about another Eddie Murphy cartoon character...
No, not Donkey: Doug already covered the 4 Shrek movies in "Dreamworksuary". I'm asking if Doug will ever talk about Thurgood Stubbs and the Fox/CW cartoon The P Js
"Living in a cardboard condo... Homeboy in a home-made bungalow..."
No, Mr. Bunker, "this here" is justiceI think Mushu's perfectly fine as a comic relief. It's the damn cricket that I'm bothered by. Mulan would have gone through the Soothsayer just fine if Cri-Kee did not exist.
It's been 3000 years…Though Cri-Kee if I remember right didn't really do much else than cause Mulan to flub the matchmaker interview, if she got engaged right away she wouldn't really have been able to run away to the army to help. So in a way, the matchmaker interview going badly was the whole point.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip:
A fine video but I think the first movie still got the best review.
Stray observations:
- Okay, that "continue this conversation" joke was legit funny.
- God, I remember Samantha from According to Jim! And I didn't even watch that show!
- "...the next you're being confused for one of Chewbacca's toes, it's a tough life."
- "Dead. Now we know why this is the last one."
- "Wasn't that the last line in Titanic?"
- "That's right, just keep walking like you don't wanna kill yourself. I saw you eye that river; it's not deep enough to finish you off."
- "He's like the Terminator!" Wait, what?
- Oh, no cameo from That SciFi Guy? Sadly, I'm not surprised but still, he's clearly visible in quite a few shots!
- And it's weird that at no point does Doug refer to Tony Hale by name.
Wait, ThatSciFiGuy?! Didn't he leave even before the Change the Channel controversy?
Technically speaking, while That SciFi Guy hasn't made a new video since 2014, I don't think he's ever *officially* left CA; hell, if I recall correctly, he even still took part in a con panel with Doug in early 2018. And since he wasn't heavily involved in CTC, I kinda hoped he would appear in the review, but alas.
Just a person. He/him.This movie is by no means what I would call good, but I really liked "You Are My Home".
*Waits patiently for a 5th Chipmunks movie to be announced*
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.It is funny after noticing how they interchange recap-centric reviews and sketch-centric reviews, I got a good laugh of Critic saying he wasn't going to use his actors because he was going to be lazy like the movie and called Tamara to let her know. "Cool, I'm going to go get drunk." (stares off blankly in bliss)
This week's review, The Pest, will be slightly delayed because of a copyright claim.
Just a person. He/him.Predicts Doug will make a joke like "Getting rooked by Sony. Now I know how Marvel feels."
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.Stray observations:
- "Who showers with all that shit?!"
- "I'll show him for directing The Wizard of Oz on Ice!"
- OK, the Scottish mafia is a pretty funny concept.
- "What's, like, your origin? Do you have a birthday?"
- "World War II and this, we apologize to all Jews for World War II and this."
- Jesus fucking Christ, this might be the most insufferable-looking movie I've ever seen on this show! You know it's bad when spending more time with Jeffrey Jones actually starts to sound appealing!
In other news, there will be a live screening of the clipless review of It: Chapter Two on 2 October. Buy tickets here.
Also, during the recent Twitch stream Doug mentioned a few future review subjects: The Grinch (2018) for Christmas and Justice League as a "big crossover" (apparently a clipless one at the end of the year).

Just a person. He/him.Will be interesting to see his take on the animated Grinch movie.
Frankly, I find the live-action film more tolerable.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them. What was the last 90s movie Doug reviewed prior to The Pest?
Jetsons Meet The Flinstones is technically 80's but done just a few weeks ago, That Darn Cat! the week before and Barneys Big Adventure three months ago.
Also The Lion King.
Just a person. He/him.Jesus, The Pest is like North, but a 1000x worse!
Nice episode though.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianJustice League! Well that will be...oh. Clipless. Despite the film being two years old. It was bad enough when the Blockbuster Buster did it with Linkara and Lupa, only to utterly drown the review in a storyline he was doing, but now this? I mean, the biggest failings of the film are how it tried and failed to match the scope of The Avengers, and again, clipless reviews don’t make sense for films that old.
Actually, I was mistaken: Doug later clarified that the Justice League review *wouldn't* be clipless. The clipless review at the end of the year is going to be something else. (Solo?)

Just a person. He/him.Good, mostly because there’s too much there to point out with the acting and the attempts at doing a Shared Universe that just don’t work as well as when they just try to be their own thing. Focus on the Now is all, a lesson they seem to be learning.
Soundtrack, with songs and music not used in the video
...I don't know. I didn't quite feel that. It's definitely one of the most cinematic reviews they've ever done and on the technical level, the video is fantastic. (Soundtrack, special effects, editing, the amazing sequence with the Satellite City cast.) Corey Taylor is also a very fun presence. But in terms of the actual content, I feel the review was a bit unfocused, without the one prevailing thesis statement (admittingly, this kind of gets called out in the video). Like, some of the songs are about the changing perception of the movie with age and some criticize social media and the outrage culture? Ehhh, I'm not sure about that. I wasn't also huge on the parody of "Another Brick in the Wall" basically making fun of kids complaining about school and missing the autobiographical subtext of Roger Waters' childhood.
I did really like the "Comfortably Numb" parody, though. Such is the power of this song.
Stray observations:
- Dang, Doug really liked Alita: Battle Angel, huh?
- Doug in leather looks vaguely Rob Halford-ian.
- Come on, no one said "Critic, leave these films alone"?

Just a person. He/him.A review with parody songs included? I think I'll pass. That has never been their strong point.
The songs are alright (it helps that they're mostly using the original Pink Floyd melodies) but sometimes the rhyming patterns don't quite work and the mixing during a few songs makes it hard to understand the lyrics.
Just a person. He/him.
