[up] Yeah, it baffles me that CA didn't release even a brief, not-going-into-details apology. It didn't even matter whether it would've been actually sincere, that's just PR 101.

(According to Cinematic Venom, *supposedly* someone claiming to know Doug asked him about the whole thing and he said they hadn't apologize because it would've been an admission of guilt and could've result in a lawsuit.)

A lot of this is really just private arguments between individuals and not something that needs to be addressed publicly. Some viewers took it personally but ultimately Doug does not owe the viewers an apology simply because we've become privy to this information.

The thing about the Chicago crew is that they are actually a crew working together week to week. Generally speaking they wouldn't be doing that if they didn't get along, and they would be paid directly for their effort and not waiting for the ad revenue for their next video. The regular contributors to Channel Awesome were independent content creators who got a small boost in viewership by being associated with a bigger name like Nostalgia Critic, but it's telling how quickly they were able to leave the site once Not So Awesome started, the actual money they got directly from the site was minimal.

To his viewers? Perhaps not. To the actual people involved? Definitely. And that's a thing that neither he nor anyone at the company seems inclined to offer if their reactions last year are anything to go by.

A third one would have somehow revealed Doug's Sex tape or something

  • "Now kiss me!"
  • "This aged fantastic!"
  • "Thought I was joking about that Skynet shit, huh?"
  • "I mean, cavemen with dinosaurs, kind of confusing grey area. ...Where does Jesus fall into that mix? We had a Christmas special!"

Okay, is Doug just really easily frightened? Why were there so many things in this special he found scary or disturbing?

I haven't seen this movie in years. What always sticks out to me about this crossover is how long it feels.

And yeah the deaux ex machina.

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

I don't know, when he's talked about Matilda, he's pretty much treated it like a horror movie and is amazed it was for kids, and people actually liked it.

So with some things he doesn't have a high threshold on.

This movie's certainly nostalgic enough to qualify for a change, but at the same time, I haven't seen The Wall and even I know there's messed-up shit in this.

[up][up][up] Damn, that looks impressive! Doug did mention wanting to review The Wall as a rock opera a while ago, so that should be fun. (Don't worry, fans of the film: he loves it too.)

Hm, I wonder whether this is the clipless review that Corey Taylor is starring in but I have no idea how this would fit the movie.

I first heard that quote from Gex, believe it or not. It was one of my favorite sound bytes in that game.

"Ya don't get yer puddin' if you don't eat yer meat!"

How does one get ahold of a physical copy of Suburban Knights? I need to inflict it on someone.

The store is only selling Kickassia and To Boldly Flee.

To be fair, Matilda kinda look at time as horror movie with tone dissonace, is....kind of creepy.

I'm pretty sure NC is exaggerating for comedic effects and to get his point across. Some things are slightly creepy, and he's emphasizing his point by making them seem creepier than they are.

Underworld (2003):

Stray observations:

  • "There goes the neighborhood!"
  • Coincidentally, I *have* been wondering recently whether Doug had seen Sorry to Bother You!
  • "As you can see in this mirror we're *not* supposed to see ourselves... Hey!"
  • "...It's pretty cool."
  • Overall, a surprisingly positive review, I expected Doug to be much more negative about the movie.

Honestly despite Suburban Knights onwards being questionable, I still think the Anniversary and Kickasia were still worth watching.

It's kind of weird. For years, the common opinion was that Kickassia was the weakest of the anniversary movies because it was too silly, and that Suburban Knights and To Boldly Flee were significant improvements because they tried to be more serious.

But nowadays, it's the complete opposite. A lot of people now say that Kickassia holds up the best because it plays up the goofy nature of the whole thing, and avoids a lot of the pitfalls of the sequels.

Unless you're one of those who think all the specials suck and always did suck. That section's still around.

The only anniversary special I really liked was the 1st one. It was short, simple, enjoyable. I found all the other specials too needlessly long, and I never really found time to properly watch them. But what I did see, the plots seemed too overcomplicated.

I'll admit though, watching the 1st anniversary special feels weird now due to even this one having some backstage misgivings, and the fact that most of the people involved have splintered off into their own ways (and that guy who harassed Lindsay for having an abortion is present in the special).

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

I said this before, but this is my all-time favorite NC episode:

I watched (or more accurately, listened to this tabbed in another tab) this for about a dozen times by now I can practically remember all the lines. [lol]

It's particularly weird how I never actually watched the movie itself, and I probably coudl've watched it about three times. [lol][lol]
