However, if I must choose which in my playthroughs, it would be the "canon" love interest (Sakura and Gemini) and then the rest. Like Kanna, the red head from the original game. Shut up, I like girls who can kick ass

You know what? I'm sorry for the comparison I keep making. This is my last message regarding the comparison. I just wish Deviant Art would have pictures comparing Sakura Wars V to Final Fantasy XIII.

Um, this is not to compare because I'm not going to since all of you don't want it but I see it, but SW 5 is aired by the same month as FFXIII: March 2009.

Sakura Wars 5 was originally released in 2005 in Japan. It just took 5 years for it to get released here.

Yep. Sega never considered releasing the series here apparently, but NISA took a gamble and apparently Sega was fine with it.

What I find annoying is that Sakura Wars' direct competitor, Galaxy Angel, was apparently going to be released here, but the company that was going to, Broccoli Books (who thought that was a good name?) went under.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the game was released on the PS 2 in 2005. The Wii port was done for 2010.

So I once found Sakura Wars V in the used games bin at my local game shop. Got it for ten euros. Pretty good deal for such a rare game, if you ask me.

I couldn't really get into it, though. At the time, it felt a little too... campy, is that the word? I'm not averse to Troperiffic, but I started to feel a little embarrassed by the way the game went mostly straight-faced about it's story. I'm the sort of guy that needs the occasional lampshade in order to sit through something like that.

Though I suppose that same campyness is it's main charm. I feel like giving it another shot lately. I remember liking the characters, and there were some funny gags in there.*

I wonder if I should liveblog it?
