When it comes to Daft Punk, hasn't the whole retro-disco thing long been part of their style? Can't really comment on the others though.
Can't we just call it what it is, disco?
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. No, just no. Boogie
is 'a repetitive, swung note or shuffle rhythm, "groove" or pattern used in blues which was originally played on the piano in boogie-woogie music.'
That ZZ Top song I posted is boogie. What this guy plays is boogie. Disco or funk music is not boogie.
Yes, actually.

It is a term that has seemingly been applied in retrospect, arising only really in the last decade or so but semantics about genre tagging inside, it's pretty clear what OP is referring to and yeah some of those singles definitely harken back to that sound. And no, it's not quite the same thing as disco.
yeah man lowercaseIt appears this thread was doomed from the start.

Like Justin Timberlake's latest album? And Chris Brown's "Fine China"?
Yep. We're seeing a new pop trend in its initial stage.
*looks up the Chris Brown song* Wow. What a shame. If he wasn't such a reprehensible piece of human scum, I might have actually considered buying that song, since it actually sounds really good, very New Jack Swing. As it stands, though, I cannot in good conscience give that jackass any of my money.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle. This isn't even the first time that retro-disco has been a thing. Behold, 70s nostalgia from the ancient year 1999.
Again, the twenty year rule is in full effect. Momus explained it better than I can.
When can we be nostalgic for Beatle-based pop/rock again?
Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.Exactly. There's always been Beatles pop retro throwbacks, some bands have literally based entire careers on emulating their aesthetic and its not surprising to see bands like Tame Impala (that've based their whole sound on the Beatles' late-psychedelic era) keep topping end-of-year charts.
yeah man lowercaseWell, on the pop charts I mean

I've noticed some of the tracks on the radio lately have a very 70s disco instrumentation. Bruno Mars' "Treasure", Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and Pharrell's "Blurred Lines" all have that treatment.
Are we going to see more of this this year? Three tracks can't be a coincidence.
