That wouldn't cause a problem.

For the first plot, at least, your characters aren't going to have a choice in the matter.

Now then, we need a Dwarf in next 15 days! You guys better not let me down!

Also, there's this thing.

[up][up]Plus, dorfs have access to BEARS or Llamas. It would be awesome if someone had a dorf who rode around on a llama stabbing stuff as the llama disapprovingly spat at people.[lol]

Wait... checking the WB thread, why do they have Alpacas? Llamas are the ones who carry loads, Alpacas are the weak and tiny ones with poofy hair that makes great sweaters. But I might be wrong. I'm not a... llamaologist?

So, here's one of the four characters I'll be playing so I can keep the flow going for both the mercenaries, the nobles and the thieves (if we ever actually get any).

  • Name: Drumlin Snowdrift.
  • Race: Dwarf
  • Gender: Dwarf, innit?
  • Appearance: Four foot on the dot, with pale, Snow White skin. He has carved hair of gray, which runs down to his back. It offend creeps people out when it stays completely still in the wind. His eyes are carved of sapphire Blessed Stones. He was not carved with clothes, his body instead being completely androgynous (ie: no butt, no... Reproductive organs, no nipples). It looks as if he's wearing a jumpsuit that blends perfectly into his body.
  • Age: 98
  • Personality: Jovial and good humoured, he often tells inappropriate jokes, and often laughs at his own jokes too. Although he has no gender, he identifies as male to give others an easier time. He doesn't care too much if he's called female though. He also has zero time for Goblins, there very presence souring his personality.
  • Bio: One of the "Glacial Dwarves''', a subspecies of Dwarves whose mountains were hurried under the Great Glacier years ago, and can only access the surface through tunnels under it, Drumlin grew up with a love of the cold, sometimes burying himself in snow as a newly carved, compacting it around himself and forming a layer of ice. At the age of 16, when he had finished his teachings, Drumlin left his frozen mountain, and ventured south, to see the Crystal Isle, where his creator apparently hailed from. He took noting with him but a simple sword, blunted from years of use by his father. As he continued through the southern lands, he eventually began to rely more and more on the use of his stone body due to the uselessness of his sword. By the time he reached the Crystal Isle, at 40 (after a fairly winding journey, featuring Ogres, Humans, other Dwarves, elephants, magical items and other assorted dangerous things) he had become a master at unarmed and hand to hand combat, and was used to taking a few hits, with more than a few cracks to show for it. After seeing the Crystal, he left, unimpressed due to not being able to feel its magical resonance. He returned home, where he came up with a rather... unorthodox way of filling in his cracks: Ice. He once again submerged himself in the snow, like he had done as a child, and let it compact around him, forming an ice more resilient than regular as it mixed with the magic of the Blessed Stones. This also led to a weakness to fire, and a hatred of Goblins unfortunately. After a few years, he left again, arriving in Mistbay at the age of 64, where he became a mercenary. He soon rose through the ranks, and was eventually picked out by a Human noble as a personal body guard. Said Human Noble managed to do a bit of ladder climbing as well, and became appointed as Tyrol Gort, Grand Leader of Mistbay. When the Otium Ball came around, Gort refused to attend unless his own personal guard was put in control of the defence squad protecting it.
  • Equipment: Relatively nothing. He carries weighted gloves for use against Ogres, but doesn't use them against other races, as he's confident he can beat them on his own.
  • Abilities: He's a master at hand to hand and unarmed combat, and very resilient to cold. He's used to taking a few hits.

Now, I'm not perfect, so if you guys see any lore breaking shit, let me know. This guy will be in charge of all the mercenaries guarding the Ball.

Name: Dytrin Solnir (Dih-trin Soul-near)

Race: Elf

Gender: Male

Appearance: Ya' know, the typical blond hair blue-eyed elf. 6"5". Pretty nice build as well: Fit but slim, long neck, abnormally long arms that reach down to his kneecaps. He has very fine, slim hands though, which help with dexterity. His hair is short, kind've like a buzz-cut, but in the back, his hair is short, though at it gets nearer the front, it raises. Then finally at the very front of his hair, it shoots up. Slim eyebrows. He wears a dark green scarf wrapped around his mouth that hangs down to his kid-back and a white shirt with the sleeves cut at the start of his suppressors. His pants are very baggy, white pants with 5 pockets on each legs stocked with needles(listed in equipment). White shoes.

Age: 24

Personality: He's a sneaky one. Dytrin doesn't talk much, and when he does, he expresses his thoughts in clear statements. He always likes to plan out his actions before Doug them instead of rushing out into a fight and possibly losing. Though he isn't a stone cold assassin. Feelings/emotions can and do affect his decisions, no matter what is being done. Pro-Life, so he normally takes the "Paralyze or Immobilize" route. He's more of an observer, and by being that will stay on the outside of groups, listening closely and figuring out what he feels about the people listening to.

Bio: Dytrin was born in a small city where integration was everything. People in his city seemed to just not care for politics but, rather life in general. This type of community gave birth to who he is now. While living there as a kid, he had many different races of friends: Goblins, Dwarves, Humans, a single Ogre. Most were older than him, but he didn't care. His small town wasn't enough for him. So when he was old enough to leave and venture out into the rest of the world by himself, he went to the bigger, more publicized cities. It was shocking. He hadn't heard of these wars before. Racial hate thrown left and right at him, it was horrible. So in a way to find out more, he traversed most of the world and visited all of the races, save for Ogres. Over time, his demeanor changed. He got chased away by Humans, hunted by Goblins. He turned quieter. Then he went to the Crystal Isle and looked around, asking about happenings, why the...everything...got started. He then took more trips to the more hostile places under disguise. Learning when to be quiet and how to at the same time. Now, he's fully informed and looking for ways to stop it, and the best way to do that would be going to the Otium Ball, whether he was invited or not.

Equipment:

Magic Suppresors: On his arms are these glove-like things that control his unstable magical output and push it towards his hands. They look like wooden rings around his forearms with a bendy fiber connecting from it, all the way up to his wrists, which have smaller wooden rings on them. The rings have magical runes inside of them, which are what suppress the magic. Sometimes the runes start to die, and his magic doesn't get straightened out correctly. This results in it(his magic) going everywhere in his body, and whenever he tries to use an element, it has a 50% chance of messing up and coming out of his body from somewhere else other than his hands. As example, his runes die then he uses fire, instead of coming from his hands he might breathe it, and it would come out in puffs of inconsistent fire.

A lot of small needles(like Haku's) in his pockets.

Abilities:

—Light Feet: Dytrin can move around quickly and quietly, making useful in stealthy situations.

—Reach: Like most elves, he is tall, so he can climb things and make jumps that some can't.

—Combat magic: Dytrin's magic comes only from his fingers/hands (which doesn't sound too weird actually), but for him, when using an element, either his hands or his fingers glow the color of it(ya know, blue, red, etc). All of his hand would glow for a stronger attack, while just fingers for small battles. The glow also leaves a trail in the air, which is the thing that does the damage, as a plus, it emits light corresponding to the element being used. After he finishes making whatever(it could be a quick swipe or a big design), the magic shoots from the trail. He uses 3 of the four elements to fight(Water, air, fire). For more on the trail: It has a touchable form while producing magic, meaning that while being made, all it is is light. Though when made, it gains the properties of the element being produced and can thus be felt. Dytrin can erase it: While the trail is unfinished, he can wipe his hand back over it to make it go away. But when it's finished, he can't take it away till it's done. The longer the trail, the longer it lasts, but making it longer takes more out of him. Trails can be connected: But only if the same element. This means that he can add onto an existing one about to fade away. It can be applied to weapons, but for short times.

  • Name: Brandon Reed
  • Race: Human
  • Gender Male
  • Appearance: He's got a short, pitch black hair and coal black eyes, his slim build and average size makes anyone wonder if he's actually capable of wearing armor and wielding a sword, his young facial expression makes him seem younger than he actually is.
  • Age: 16
  • Personality: Brandon is quite shy and insecure of his own capabilities, and it seems to him as if the world demands perfection from him (which is actually true, as he's the only one who can maintain his House). He's reluctant about every decision he makes and thinks thrice before deciding on what should be done, even simple ones. If there is a subject that he doesn't know about, he'll most likely ask his advisors and count too much on their own opinion and experience. However, if there is something positive to say about him, it's that he's very dedicated on improving and making up for his flaws. He makes up for his insecurity with intelligence, his reluctancy with knowledge, his lack of experience with smartness and cleverness. He's quite the challenger, when the time calls for it (almost always). Never doubt about his determination.
  • Bio: Brandon was the second son of their House, and thus led a life which did not expect as much from him as expected from his brother, who should become the next Lord after their father died. When their father's illness became worse and he could no longer rule and protect his lands from the incomming hordes of enemies that started to become a more imposing threat each day, his brother Seth, 22 year-old at the time, took his position and role.

  • He was successful in driving back the enemy forces and liberating most of his family's lost lands, but he was also responsible for losing many soldiers on his crusades, which gave him the reputation of ruthless. In six months, their army had lost much of its numbers, while the enemy forces were more numerous and equally capable of fighting. And they started to lose their liberated lands once again. Their allies had little to spare for their House, since they suffered from the same threat. The defenses started to falter, and the noble houses could see the Reeds wouldn't last much longer, should the situation not change.

  • Negotiations with other Houses were made. Some asked riches, while others asked that some of the liberated lands should be pinned to their own lands, in exchange for the help. While Seth knew that having less lands to protect should help him against the horde comming down on them frequently, he was far too prideful to agree with the latter proposals. His only hope was to wait for Winter and focus on defending his lands.

  • However, that plan was easily broken as a massive army was formed to break through his defenses. Seth answered this attempt with his own sortie and rode to the battlefield, facing an army that was twice as numerous as his. On that day, only five soldiers returned to tell the tale, and bring the dire news of their Lord's death. However, his fall managed to weaken the enemy enough for it to give the Reeds more time to strengthen their defenses, and in that sense the plan served its purpose.

  • Immediately after, Brandon became the next Lord just two months before he became 16. Taking the advice from his counselors, he decided to negotiate with the other nobles and accept the offer his brother couldn't. Though he lost a few of his lands, he could focus on the rest and accept the help of stronger noble families. With this, he managed to hold his enemies in line with less casualties, until winter came and the skirmishes became fewer.

  • Some months later, he got an invitation to a Ball which should help ease the tensions between the nobles of all races. Seeing this as an opportunity to finally end the never-ending conflict, he put all his hopes on this meeting, set one of his advisors as the Steward while he was away, and left with only a few men on his side.
  • Equipment: Only the clothes he is wearing at the moment. Brandon also wears a silver amulet with the picture of an angel engraved within, which he calls Angel's Icon. It has been passed through his family for generations, though everyone treats it as a fancy family heirloom which supposedly "brings luck" - which is not a wrong way of explaining what it is, but it's an understatement. Though its power has been weakening for quite some time, the amulet protects its wearer from most mortal wounds, as long as they are not overkill.
  • Abilities: Aside from his fencing and riding skills, nothing. He's been lessoned about managing his lands and warfare, but his grasp about these topics is average at best.

He can't avoid hits with it. What I mean is, he's able to survive mortal hits with the amulet, as long as they aren't as overkill as piercing through his heart, cutting off his head, piercing his neck and things of the like. He can take an arrow to the knee and survive.

Unless he gets character developped into awesomeness. All Lords get a promotion by the end of the game, and they oftenly get a pony and awesome stats. Too bad Angel's Icon is not an Earth Seal...

WAIT!!!

P Blades, now you have G@l going to the Crystal Isle, but not the ball. He needs to go to the Crystal isle as Gil, get magic, die, reincarnate as G@l, then go to the ball.

Hmm, I don't want to double post, so take this!

  • Name: Marvin "Marv" Haas
  • Race: Human
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Small. Not Dwarfism small, but small nonetheless. He comes in at about 5'0. He has long white hair, and a long, white Fu-Manchu Mustache. He normally wears red robes and a wide straw hat. He has a very shabby looking appearance.
  • Age: 82
  • Personality: Marv is quite gruff, and takes no shit. You dropped litter? Picked a flower? Talked loudly during important meetings? Prepare to be hit with a shovel. He's also not very found of fools, although he doesn't mind a joke every now and again, especially if the situation doesn't call for it. He's also possibly the most stubborn man on the entire isle of Mistbay.
  • Bio: Marv is the groundskeeper for the Grand Palace, where the Otium ball is taking place. They asked him nicely to leave on the day of the ball, but as long as there's a Palace, Marv is gonna be somewhere on the grounds. He's never done anything but tend the grounds, just like has dad, and his granddad before him. He was told that if he was gonna go in to work that day to keep away from the mercs, lest he tests their patience, but even as he has told this, they knew there was no way he would. Marv Haas was never a very obedient man.
  • Equipment: He carries around a shovel, a flask of water (both for him and the plants in the garden) amd not much else.
  • Abilities: He's a really good grounds keeper.

I was hoping to post this OC before another split personality character came in, but I think my guy's different enough that he doesn't steal G@l's thunder. tongue

Name: Siman/Makak

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Appearance: Tall (6'2") and lanky (164 lbs), a smooth round face with protruding ears, kind blue eyes that hide behind pince-nez glasses, very short brown hair that barely counts for anything more than peach fuzz. For the ball, he will be wearing a neat cassock that identifies him as an acolyte for the Twenty First One.

Age: 26

Personality:

  • Siman: Horribly anxious and figity. Relatively spineless and cowardly, but his high moral standards demand he try to help those in need despite the danger...which makes him even more anxious and figity. A genius at chemistry, who would rival many Creationists at potion making. A very generous and sweet young man who avidly follows the First One's doctrine.
  • Makak: An arrogant, self-centered, and mischevious jackass whose only consistant interest is his own amusement. Is remarkably strong and agile considering Siman's apparent frailty, but is a bit lacking intellectually...and morally. A borderline psychopath, Makak cares very little for social customs or legal restrictions; he does what he wants, wherever he wants, and whenever he wants.

Bio: Siman was the second son of a wealthy merchant family from the coastal city of Sappyr. His older brother Alvin was the heir to the family business, so instead of dealing with another mouth to feed, Siman was sent away to live in the city monastary. The local monks became his family and teachers, exposing him to the wonders of The First One as well as the arts and sciences. Aside from scripture however, Siman's greatest passion was chemistry, and when he was old enough to work independently, he set out to combine the two.

Scripture states that mankind is both primal and divine; he is at the crossroads of angel and beast. Since he was a little boy, Siman knew this statement to be true; for himself as much as for the species. The First One encouraged his followers to embrace their divine qualities (charity, love, putting others before oneself, etc.) and to supress their base ones (greed, lust, and overall self-gratification). Since man is both angel and beast, it is impossible to be completely good or completely evil—at least, not to the level of The First One...but what if these conflicting traits could be seperated? Through powerful potions, Siman attempted to part the primal from the divine.

The potion worked...sort of. From his experiments, Siman gave birth to the physical embodiment of his primal instincts and basest qualities: Makak. At first, the transformation was very liberating; Siman had always been rather nervous and uptight, but since Makak only cared about his own pleasures, Siman was finally free to relax and not fear the consequences of his actions (a well-made disguise coupled with Makak's unique body language ensured that Siman was never suspected). But as the months rolled by, Siman began to realize that he no longer needed the potion to transform into Makak; his darker side could emerge simply through a sudden burst of adrenaline. Now Siman is haunted by his "evil twin," who will eagerly possess him whenever he is startled.

Due to his promise as a chemist and clergyman, Siman has been invited to the Otium Ball as an acolyte for the head of the Church: the Twenty First One. Having no explicable reason to refuse, Siman reluctantly agreed to accompany Her Holiness. Only time will tell if Siman's secret will be unexpectedly revealed, and Makak will ruin not only his reputation, but also Artedon's last chance for peace.

Equipment: Siman has a small amount of money, but nothing substantial. His greatest asset is his brilliant mind and generous demeanor. As long as he isn't startled, Siman is one of the finest examples of etiquette and clerical charity; after all, that was why he was selected to go.

Since Siman has no weapons on his person, that means Makak is unarmed as well. Of course, that's perfectly fine with him; he'd rather use his hands and teeth to fight, but he's also fine with stealing a sword or spear if need be.

Abilities: Siman is a brilliant scholar, but is as athletic as...well...a brilliant scholar. His body is fit and powerful (thanks to Makak), but he lacks the coordination that his alter ego possesses. When fueled by the bloodlust of battle, Makak is as strong and as agile as most seasoned warriors, but where he excels in brawn, he lacks in brains. Against a veteran, he will most likely lose due to poor planning.
