  • Name: Hiltan Faldos
  • Race: Elf
  • Gender: M
  • Appearance: Hiltan is a fit and trim specimen of Elven perfection. He has blonde hair and blue eyes, and the physique of a male gymnast: all wires and cords. His features are even more sylvan and elongated than a normal Elf. He is well-kempt and dresses in long aristocratic riding coats of flat greens and brown.
  • Age: 35
  • Personality: Hiltan is a very outspoken individual; he feels no need to be prudent about what he is saying. He feels very strongly about the oppression of Elves and Dwarves by Humans and other races. Politics is his profession after all, and telling people stories of oppression—or trying to sell them a copy of his book—is just normal for him. Hiltan believes that the Elven race is in danger, and that he must create a bright and beautiful future for all, one free of the destructive and corrupting influence of industry and ambition.
  • Bio: Hiltan grew up on the Crystal Isle in a home that faced the mainland. Ever since he was very little, that bumpy line on the horizon intrigued him. He became an artist, drawing interpretative landscapes of what he thought the mainland to be like. His father indulged this hobby by giving him private artistic education—an orderly affair with a strict, grueling structure; he learned the power of order and authority from those lessons. He also learned to master his inborn specialty of Combat magic, summoning great elemental forces from nothing—Ice was his favorite, alongside Metal, but of course Ice is a little more easily manipulated and conjured. He learned also during his schooling of the outside world—the destructive forces of the Humans and the Ogres and all those not born with the privilege of a life on the Crystal Isle; those who would ruin the landscapes he loved to paint. When Hiltan left school and became a man, he decided that politics would be where he was best focused. He ventured out into the wider world, into mixed-race or occasionally flat-out human-occupied settlements with a small group of similarly-minded Elves and held massive demonstrations, arguing for the uprising and rule of the Elves in Artedon. This, of course, went poorly. Hiltan went to prison, where he wrote a book on his Ideals. He sold it after his year was up, and made himself a pretty comfortable life as an influential politician and artist; he holds no current office, though has worked closely with many nobles and fellow politicians over the years. His paintings hang in a few small museums, and are known for emphasizing the beauty of nature in its sense of pure, untouched power, power that Humans try desperately and foolishly to control. It was only natural the foremost scholar of Artedonian Racial Relations would come to a Ball that would quite possibly determine the fate of the country.
  • Equipment:
    • A runed staff disguised as a cane, a keepsake from his Father that he channels much of his magic through. The cane was created by a collaboration of Dwarf and Elf; it acts, essentially, as a magical lightning-rod, channeling energy and amplifying it by drawing in energy from the surrounding environment and adding it to the spell, in addition to simply making the spell more efficient by reducing any energy wasted from entropy. While the wielder would have once been able to summon mighty firestorms, overpowering even the strongest of physical and magical defenses, a cunning, Human-sympathizing elf laid a curse on the staff, sealing away most of its power behind a curse that the best efforts of the greatest Elven mages could not remove. So, now, its power is limited to simply making spells cast more efficient—you will put in the same energy into a spell as before, but the cane allows you to get more out of the energy expended.
    • A simple Elvish saber of typical(exceptional) design and craftsmanship, with a floral pattern on the crossguard.
    • A comfortable horse and cart with plenty of food and supplies to last a return trip after the Ball.
  • Abilities: Hiltan can wield Combat magic specializing in manipulating the classical elements of Water and Metal. He particularly excels in freezing water in air, seemingly conjuring a spike of ice from thin air. He is also an extremely skilled orator, capable of whipping devoted crowds into a frenzy with inspiring speeches. He can do the same in art and writing, creating incredible impressionist pieces and passionate prose.

I just sorta threw together the story for Hiltan's cane, maybe I could write a whole post in the Worldbuilding thread about it?

Yeti 0: Argnor Tholden is accepted.

TroyandHawk: I can't except Rellik for one reason. You call it a girl in the rest of the profile, but a boy in the bio? What's with that?

Nman: Dr. None Moonraven is accepted, and I would definetly like to hear more about her dad.

Taco: Hitler Hiltan Faldos is accepted, as long as you change the bit about the curse on his staff. Humans can't use magic, remember? And, yeah, feel free to write a World Building article for it.

By changing the bit about the curse, do you mean that I should just change a Human placing the curse to someone else, then?

Alright, sorry, Rellik's file was used for an old dead RP where she was a male. So I fixed it.

Good to be back

Ok, now to the regular problems:

  • In your profile, you say that she's been a Warrior for a year. That seems too short to fit in to her bio.
  • How does she manage to be crude and gruff, yet also diplomatic?

Hmm, we have a thief/rogue, two offensive fighters, a paladin, a blacksmith, a healer, a mage/someone who can actually talk - seems like a good spread, only thing that doesn't seem covered is the who ranger/bowman dude. Races, though, I'm surprised no one's made a dwarf or goblin. Being a magic robot or setting yourself on fire seem pretty cool[lol]

Quick question- how does Gil, Gel, Gol the magnificent identical triplet crossbowgoblin sounds?

I will do the bio in limerick form, even.

[up]Well, it is only one character a piece...

[up][up] I know! I expected at least a few Goblins or Dwarves.

  • Name: Main personality goes by Gil, though also answers to Gal, Gel, Gol and Gul respectively.
  • Race: Goblin
  • Gender: Male
  • Appearance: Largely a typical looking wizened copper-skinned Goblin, with four “outcroppings” of blessed stones embedded on his back.
  • Age: 29
  • Personality: As Gil, sardonic and snarky. As Gal, boastful and hardheaded. As Gel, altruistic and diplomatic. As Gol, serious and bookish. As Gul, cowardly and conniving.
  • Bio:
    • This is the story of a goblin son,
    • Born to an old wise matron,
    • He had four brothers, cunning and clever,
    • Each of which, to his chagrin, would be shot and severed,
    • Smashed and crushed under weighs a ton,
    • From time five remains. Five eyes, bright.

    • The Firstborn is the hearty Gal,
    • Mighty and tough, his flame burns with heat infernal,
    • He proclaims, I will be a mercenary,
    • Earns gold, be the envies of human gentry,
    • On the fourth day, discovered, an arrow lodged in his vital,
    • And so one is dead, four remains. Four eyes, paled.

    • The Second is the naive Gel,
    • Idealistic bright eyes, never truly off his shell,
    • He goes off one day; establish a trade route he says,
    • Only to discover, in the World, he is so much as putty and clay,
    • On the third day, thrown into an abattoir, cut to pieces, his meats sell,
    • And so two are dead, three remains. Three eyes, faded.

    • The Fourth child is the devout Gol,
    • True of faith, never wavered by idol,
    • Learning his lessons, he stayed in Goblin land,
    • Practicing his beliefs in peace, never harmed a single man,
    • On the second day, the Orges didn’t care, crushing him with First One’s symbol,
    • And so three are dead, two remains. Two eyes, dimmed.

    • The Fifth runt is the frightful Gul,
    • Scared of leaving home, he dreamt of safety, all else, annulled,
    • Sent to carry water up a cliff side,
    • Simple enough task, worries, trite,
    • On the first day, he slipped and fall, and fall also, atop of him, his haul,
    • And so four are dead, one remains. One eyes, dulled.

    • The Third one is the curious Gil,
    • Embittered, angry, unwilling to let his brothers pass on still,
    • He travelled, high and low, the land of Artedon,
    • Dwelling in a crypt, he encountered a Grimoire, one of Solomon,
    • Knowledge forbidden, inside him welled unbidden, for years, until,
    • And so five are dead, none remains. No more, dark.

    • Last of the fives died, and all of the fives reborn,
    • No more, no more, they shall never be asunder, torn,
    • A Magus, conduit, embedded with Blessed stones,
    • One is five, five is one, their bright eyes shone,
    • On the last day, gathered his brothers’ remains, become one, a new dawn,
    • And so five are dead, and yet five remains.

    • So, with his journey done, his quest at an end,
    • He find himself bored, anything to distract him would be a godsend,
    • A ball, rumor says, the most important of them all,
    • With many attending, smart and strong, short and tall,
    • So the band of brothers, band of one, sets off from their den.

    • Their destination, the Crystal Isle,
    • Uncaring of his apprehension, nor any other's ire,
    • Riches untold awaits, or so it was said,
    • And in any case, no other plans were laid,
    • So the band of brothers, band of one, unwittingly casts the die.

  • Equipment: A crossbow, a staff, an axe and a dagger. Each finely made, though not particularly noteworthy otherwise. Sigils creating kits. Grimoire of Solomon.

  • Abilities: Incredibly proficient at Containment magic, to the point of creating a facsimile of the old, lost magic of Soul transferral and Blessed stones creation. Capable of swapping between his own and his brothers’ personalities, capable of changing once a day to aspects of warrior, diplomat, mage, cleric, and thief. He uses the memories, skills, and knowledge of his brothers in their forms.

Maybe he can only change under certain circumstances?

What if it takes a massive amount of MP to changes? Enough that he can do so once daily, or more and risked starving to death on the spot.

Sure. I will try to keep it vague and stuff.

Full disclosure, I began with a Totem Pole Trench Joke Character. I had no idea how I ended up with Split Personality Trine.

I don't see where the "She was in the army for a year" was, but what I meant by the other is that while Rellik is often crude and cruel, she is capable of being a skilled diplomat, however, she rarely is.

Perhaps my common sense has been lacking, but... I was thinking about making a young Lord who recently inherited the title (he'd be from a minor House) and work through that idea, but I'm starting to wonder if it won't restrain me from including him on the overall plot for the RP.

I know, but I imagine every char will get a Call to Adventure and my char won't be able to answer it since he's too busy managing his lands and dealing with politics. That's what I fear.

What I mean is, I fear he won't be flexible enough for the plot.

Maybe just handwave some assistants? That's what Aken Jizo did to explain Uther being able to the Ball by saying he has a "very capable staff" that he left in charge of his lands so he could go hang around and stuff.
