3) The Aether is also the source of magical energy, which is channeled via souls that act like pipes that tap the energy.

4) Just like a pipe that can break with high pressure, too much magical energy channeling through a soul can damage it, which can heal in time. With enough magical energy souls can be destroyed.

No, no, what I posted wasn't a list of things we decided, like the two things you posted, it was a list of suggestions.

@Go A: I don't like very much the idea of magic creating sentient life. I mean, the part that says it can accelerate the development of sentient life is kinda good, but in my opinion if magic can be manipulated by mind then non-sentient beings would be able to use some raw and unbound kinds of magic, though since magic leads to sentience... Also I say life always flow through living beings from the Aether and then go back, so the singularity is kind of redundant.

And what do you mean by Gifts?

[up]I'm kind of more confused now, but instead I'll ask you: 1)How does the Aether interacts with Gifts? and 2) how will the players get the Gifts?

It's something the player is born with, although usually manifesting at puberty.

Remember, we basically had mutant powers?

[up]I know that, but I'm talking about mechanics. How many does a player gets to pick? Is it determined by race, class or what? You know, that kind of stuff.

Also I get it that people are born with these. But how? By luck? Fate? Does it simply happens or a spirit or god goes there and give one a gift?

How are we defining sentience? As there is often debate over what is sentience or sapience.

I'll use the wikipedia definitions.

Will Dohmain have more than one Plane/World/Dimension of existence? I suppose there could be a mortal plane, a divine plane and... I dunno. Any ideas or opinions?

Mortal, Divine, infernal and some kinda spiritual plane and/or fae plane as well.

Material and Aetherial, basically.

The Aetherial Plane can be like the Never Never in the Dresden Files, whereas different areas of it have these completely different places, places which can be completely removed from getting to via physical travel but still technically exist in the Aetherial.

What would the infernal dimension be?

[up]So, Material and Aetherial planes, each one with its own set of dimensions? the Celestial Gods live somewhere in the Aetherial plane and can interact with the equivalent of Asgard for the Terrestrial Gods and the equivalent of Midgard?

The Material, as far as we might be concerned, is mostly just the planet. Terrestrial Gods hang out on the planet around wherever the hell they feel like hanging out. Celestials, being one part natural force, can make up landscapes in the Aetherial, along with their manifested Faces and the native Fae.

[up]I meant*

more like, how the mortals believe the planes are divided and how more or less the groups organize within each one, forming dimensions. Example: The Terrestrial Gods live in a city which they call "Asgard", while the Heroes live in a city called "Valhalla", both in the Material Plane. So you have the dimensions of Asgard and Valhala.

Also the Faes seemed confusing for me when I looked them up in Dohmain Seal, what do you suggest for them? The Fair Folk? I'm not very fond of that kind of fairy but I think I can work something out...

[up] I think we should go for what is actually there first before going for what the mortals think is there. Unless you want to pull a New World Of Darkness where there are different versions and it is up to GM to decide which one, if any one of them, is the right one.

Fae is a catch-all term for the non-God inhabitants of the Aether. They are called Devils, Demons, Angels, Fairies, Elementals, or Daevils, Daemons, Aengels, Faeries and Aelementals by the particularly obtuse.

[up]Oh I see, we can work on that later then, I think.

[up][up]Well, but in my opinion there should be "Valhala" and "Asgard" like places in there tongue At least enough looking alike so the mortals can think there are, asides from other locations. So, for now my ideas are:

  • "Asgard": A place where the Terrestrial Gods can live;
  • "Valhala": Where powerful heroic people go when they die, blahblahblah thispost;
  • Meanwhile Celestial Gods spend most of their time teleporting around planes, watching over mortals and Terrestrial Gods, though mortals believe there is a place for them (and due to how Aether works there could really be one).

I don't think Terrestrials should have a central place in the Material. They live in this world, wherever they feel like.

God_of_Awesome Since: Jan, 2001

Also, thinking, we might need a reason the Terrestrials just don't rule everything. My thought, they spend most of their time removed from this world, astral projecting up in the Aether.

I actually imagine that they are powerful, but not quite THAT powerful.

But your call.

God_of_Awesome Since: Jan, 2001
#148: Jun 13th 2013 at 10:51:21 PM

How about half-n-half. The more powerful ones spend a lot of time "away".

IraTheSquire Since: Apr, 2010
#149: Jun 13th 2013 at 10:55:25 PM

Sure, Why Not?

And we can have the aloof ones that stay away and ones that interfere more with the World. Because Terrestials have personality and are once people and thus are as diverse. Good way to differentiate them further from the Celestials.

But we could say that their is a tendency, resulting from a call from the Aether as their connection deepens with it as their power grows.
