On a point of land where two rivers came together sat the center of a large city. As could be expected, a good number of skyscrapers and other such large buildings dotted the landscape. Bridges spanned the rivers, linking the center with the other parts of the city that sat on the other side.
The city's architecture appeared to be all over the place. The buildings on the outskirts looked modern, but as one approached the heart of the city the structures started looking older and older. Even stranger, the oldest building in the city was also the tallest – a massive skyscraper that truly lived up to the title of “skyscraper,” but looked like it was built in the 19th century.
The people of this city came from all walks of life. Some were natives; others were just visiting. There was no denying that the population was quite a varied one. The question was just how varied....

The two fell from their seats with a thud as the bullet hit them, Cthulhu bleeding blue blood, oily black blood seeped out of Nyarlathotep. Several individuals who were near the computers screamed, a few other people panicking at the site.
For a few seconds, they bleed before both proceeded to groggily get up from their positions. Both of them poked a finger into the bullet holes in their heads. The bullet from Cthulhu's head came out surrounded in a small ball of tentacles that quickly morphed back into his finger, while Nyarlathotep's bullet came out surrounded by a black smoke.
Nyarlathotep had an angry look on his face as he threw the bullet to the ground, "I don't believe you know anything about not harming unarmed civilians," he gestured to himself and Cthulhu, "Neither of us have weapons," he began to clutch his amulet, "Unless you want to make this a fight with uneven ground," he growled.
Cthulhu clutched his amulet as well.
Squids and Octopi have blue blood, that's why Cthulhu is bleeding blue

After the other three people left, Rachel smiled slightly and returned to reading. Freaking finally, she thought, Maybe I can read this book without interruptions this time....
Right as she thought that, gunshots rang out. Rachel immediately turned her head in the direction they came from, and saw that it looked like Jim had gone and shot (or tried to shoot) both Cthulhu and Nyarly. By the looks of things, both of them were fine, but it wasn't the gunshots that scared her. If those two were who they said they were, and Rachel didn't doubt it, then their reactions to being shot were not going to be pretty. To put it more accurately, it was probably best if she and Selena got out of here.
She immediately got up, put her flip-flops back on, and bolted upstairs. She'd left the book behind, but she didn't feel the urge to take it with her. It wasn't worth her life.

Jim stared at the two, and pursed his lips, although he didn't lower his gun. "This did not go how I expected it to. I don't suppose you two fine gentlemen could be persuaded to not... kill me?"

Amanda frowned. "You people are weird. But nice." When she heard the gunshots she ran to balcony and saw Jim. She shouted his name.
[Library - 1st floor]
Jim looked up in disbelief, and lowered his gun. "Fucking hell, Amanda. Please accept my most sincere apologies gentlemen. If you plan on killing me, could I ask that we do it outside? Otherwise, I bid you good day."

Hearing the gunshots, Jen rushed down the steps, un-holstering the pistol she kept hidden in her vest. She raised the gun at Jim and the two others. "Okay, whatever just happened, I don't think I want it to continue. As long as I'm here, there will be no killing, maiming, or attempts to kill or maim from here on out.

"Wait, you that guy, right?" James asked Amanda. "Why did he just fire at those other two? And who's getting killed? Man, I'm tired..."

The two looked angrily at Jim, clutching their amulets and attempting to hold their ground.
Nyarlathotep growled at Jim, "Don't expect to get away so easily, we have no intention of killing anyone, but your crime won't go unpunished."
As Jen rushed down the stairs, Nyarlathotep shouted toward her, "He shot us first, we've done nothing."

"Yeah, that's Jim. Don't worry, he shoots people all the time, and he's not dead yet. I mean, he is a bit dead, but he can still shoot people. Why is Jen angry? Is your job to stop people shooting people?"
[Library - 1st floor]
Jim lifted his gun again, and looked to Jen, trying to suppress a smile. "Here that guys? If you're bad, this lady's going to shoot you."

Before he could decide on how best to approach Rachel in what was becoming a longer and longer awaited reunion, Joseph's train of thought was brutishly interrupted by the sharp crack of gunfire. Twice, and from within the building. He jumped back from the bookshelf, almost colliding with the one behind him, even more at a loss for what to do. After a moment's deliberation—because he really didn't want to run up to Rachel and say 'hey, guess who!' in the middle of what could be a shootout, or some sort of hostage situation—Joe dashed to the end of the bookshelf and around the corner and out into the open to find Rachel, because now seemed as good a time for someone to have a friend as any.
Except... well, Rachel wasn't in her seat anymore. That was easily understandable, who'd want to be locked down to a chair when shooting starts? The problem was, she didn't seem to be anywhere else in sight either. Joe jerked his head around frantically, but she must've reacted much faster than he had, for he couldn't see any sign of her. What he could see, however, was the old man from before, standing a ways across the room and holding a gun, and that was enough to set Joseph's gears in motion. The last thing he needed was the jumpy old coot to go ape over the sight of a lizard-man and start shooting at him.
Quickly, he ran across to the other side of the bookshelf and retrieved his plaid blanket, then dipped behind the cover of another bookshelf, throwing the blanket over himself as he went, holding the corners to keep it on. He regretted not having a larger blanket, and not having one that was less noticeable then, well... plaid, but none of that meant anything at that moment. At that moment, Joseph was focused on moving as far in the opposite direction of the gunshots as he could manage.

"No," answered James, "Usually we're the ones doing the shooting. Jen there doesn't really like it when it's not her firing away."
[Library - 1st Floor]
"I wasn't just talking to them," Jen pointed the gun towards Jim. "Anyone get's out of hand, they're getting a bullet between the eyes. Now, I don't care who shot first, as long as no one shoots again, and no one innocent got hurt, alright?"
[Library - 1st floor]
"Oh, right, let's all gang up on Jim. He doesn't have a hard enough life, what with a failed revolution, and the vampire thing, and all that." Jim sighed. "What do you plan to do to me, and will Amanda be hurt?"

Nyarlathotep growled and threw his hands in the air, "You're a fucking psychopath," he paused to reflect on that, "And that's a lot coming from me," he finally added.
Cthulhu kept his hands clutched on his amulet, but kept his eyes on Jen and Jim.

One staircase later, Noah could take a better view of the situation unfolding in the park. He watched from the balcony. Well, it's not completely on fire, nor is it flooded, he mused. A good sign. He spotted Shani perched atop a fountain. She was watching the crowd, waiting for... something. A provocation. An excuse.
Noah set down his pack and began rummaging. A signal. I need to send her a signal.

"Yeah, but these are like gods or something, so they could just fuck up everything if they wanted to." Jim turned to the god couple. "Listen, if you're going to do a whole fate-worse-than-death, damned-to-spend-eternity-in-the-seventh-circle-of-hell, can we get it over with? At least answer my questions."

Amanda grabbed a book and threw it off the balcony. It missed everyone and landed a few feet from Jim. She sulked, and said to James, "My friends always call me stupid too
Please pardon the pun. I couldn't resist.

"Gods?" asked Jen. "... Nope. No way. These guys are... weird, yes. Aliens maybe... probably, but not gods." Jen then continued to mutter to herself, "then again, if this is a simulation, I'm sure Linde would have explained away some of her stupid bugs and other illogical crap away with "God" AI who could bend reality. It's a cheap excuse, but one she would make." She saw as the book landed on the ground. "Glass, did you throw that book?" she called up to the balcony.
[Library - 3rd Floor]
"No, this Amanda girl did it," James answered down to Jen.
"Good, I didn't want you to embarrass yourself any more. You are already in your pajamas and without a gun."
James sighed and turned to Amanda. "No need to sulk about it, sweetie. Sometimes if you're stupid, you're stupid."

This made Amanda sulk more. "I was trying to be nice. Kate always says that I'm not stupid, I just have a unique thought process, and ADD."

Nyarlathotep had a look of pleasant surprise on his face when Jim apologized, "Didn't think it would be that easy," he muttered.
Cthulhu was able to hear Jen's speaking under her breath, "Gods would be inaccurate. God-like aliens would be much closer."

Jim holstered his gun, still wary of pretty much everyone, but willing to wait until someone actually did something. He shouted, "Don't worry James. She's used to it." Another book fell at his feet. "That was close."
Amanda smiled.

Jen holstered her gun. "Good to know we weren't about to resort to a firefight. Now, in to this God-like Aliens matter..." Jen eyed the two supposed gods. "Huh... Glass, do you remember if Mason ever sketched people who look like this? If so, this is definitely a simulation, but if not... I've never seen an Alien before, but I always suspected they existed. Do you two have a planet of your own. Is it safe to live on? Is this that planet?" Jen wondered what would happen if one of the main fleets came across something like these two.
[Library - 3rd Floor]
"I don't care about any of Mason's sketches, so I can't tell you," James answered down, before turning to Amanda. "Well, now that all the guns are gone, sorry I might have inferred or outright stated you were stupid, or something. Don't throw a book at me."
[Library - 3rd floor]
"Aw, James, I wouldn't do that to you." She hugged him and ran downstairs. "Let's go see Jim."
[Library - 1st floor]
Jim hugged Amanda and punched James. "What the fuck were you doing with her?"
"No, he's my friend. I asked him to go upstairs with me."
Jim sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Today is not a good day."
Sorry, kind of assumed James would follow Amanda. Happy to change it.

"Thank God, the police have arrived." the green suit said, though the distortion made it impossible to tell whether it had been meant mockingly or in seriousness.
"Be nice, Green. I used to be a cop," the larger suit said. "Let them work." The larger suit turned slightly to face an approaching group of policemen. "I sincerely recommend you play in your own weight class. We're not causing trouble, and as long as you don't try to arrest us it stays that way."
Green jumped, caught the edge of the bus stop shelter, and flipped up and around to land on top of it in a crouch. "Superpowers. Why not?" she muttered. The Olympic-quality gymnastics performance was apparently incidental to her. "We're still not getting involved?"
"The cops are talking rather than evacuating the buildings, they think they can handle it. We'll see."

"I don't know what a fleet is. Mostly, we fight vampires, but sometimes, it's werewolves. Basically, the general says, 'Jim, you need to do something,' and then we do it. What do you do?"

Jim smiled, not looking at the pair. "Okay, that seems reasonable. I'm sure you have no reason to lie." He took a few steps away and shot them both once in the head.
