Kill La Kill

Game comes out on July 25, Fight Club Mako and DTR will be free DLC. Story mode has hack-and-slash segments in addition to regular fights.

I went ahead and started up the KILL la KILL - IF page, if anyone would like to have a go at contributing to it. I used the official website and some youtube videos to get as much information as I could so far.

Ooh, I'll have to give that a look!

While we wait for more info on IF: I started watching the English dub on CrunchyRoll for the first time about a week ago. It's great! But now A Thought has entered me and will not leave.

When Mrs. Mankanshoku asks Ryuko if she enjoys showing off her body, Ryuko says something like, "No way! I hate being naked." Are we to deduce, then, that Ryuko is a nevernude? Is she secretly rocking a pair of nasty jean cutoffs under Senketsu? There are dozens of them, after all.

The game has another scenario that you can unlock after beating the main story.

Also Senketsu Kisaragi is confirmed.

Man. This game is just one surprise after another.

More importantly, apparently the Ryuko scenario will FINALLY give an origin for the Original Life Fiber.

We already know of a Life Fiber planet. And we already know what happened to it:◊

But anyhoo, yeah, this feels like it should be season two instead of a game. Especially since I'm almost thirty and owning a game about half-naked high school girls fighting would make me feel unbelievably dirty.

Buy it digitally. The e-shop doesn't know you aren't a high school girl.

I still can't believe at absolutely no point did anyone think to use fire in Kill La Kill. Among explosions and destruction, were there any fires except Senketsu burning up in re-entry?

And then Kill La Kill's finale was ripped off by Venom 2018 Albiet the Symbiode survived... Somehow.

Kill la Kill (along with Promare and Gurren Lagann) will have a collab in the gacha game Monster Strike◊

My anniversary is coming up. Perchance I can convince my partner to buy it for me as a gift? I'd still feel kinda weird about owning it, though.

Oh, but I do love Kill la Kill. I'm a little bummed that no one seems to be talking about it anymore. I know it's the digital age and if something is five years old it may as well be five hundred, but I thought for sure it'd be an enduring modern classic.

It's still an A tier in terms of this decade's hit anime. The problem is the S tier has stuff like Attack on Titan, One Punch Man, and My Hero Academia.

Plus Kill la Kill's characters escaped the threshold of being "seasonal waifus", if you're into that stuff.

I like Kill la Kill a hell of a lot more than One Punch Man, and the creator of Attack on Titan is apparently a Nazi/Imperial sympathizer, so I've written that off entirely.

I've only seen one episode of My Hero Academia but I liked it well enough. I should check out the rest sometime.

Not entirely sure what a "seasonal waifu" is but it sure doesn't sound like an honor.

Basically, since most anime is shorter nowadays, people cling onto newer characters for a shorter amount of time, and their popularity is more often than not a flash in the pan sort of deal.

That's, uh... as far as I know, that was just one of the typical "molehills into mountains" Internet shitstorms based on nothing but assuming the absolute worst from anything that might possibly be misinterpreted. If that was the only thing keeping you from giving that anime a chance, you might want to give it another try. It's really cool. (Also the main, unambiguously evil, villain faction is heavily codified as Nazi equivalents, and the recurring theme from positive characters is "as long as you're born into this world, you're already special and deserve life and freedom", so...). If you don't like the anime on its own merits, disregard what I just said. Tastes, and so on.

That said, I agree that Kill la Kill is still a top-tier anime. It's just that it said what it had to say and moved on, instead of trying to generate a soulless, long-term moneymaking franchise (Fate, I'm looking at you). It's a bit sad, but I think that's the best possible outcome.

That was based on posts he made downplaying Imperial Japan's actions in Korea. Which understandably didn't sit well with Korean people.

He's an Imperial Japan apologist.

I've grown quite cynical towards Fate as of late, so to see Type-Moon keep Kara no Kyoukai complete outside of a few guest appearances makes me happy.

And I'm happy that Kill la Kill is like that, too. The only Imaishi series I want to see come back is Panty and Stocking, and that's never going to happen.

Apparently the creator of Fire Force has accused TRIGGER of stealing his idea.

I don't think he directly mentioned Trigger, but given there's no other fire fighting anime at the time, it's very likely he meant them.

Yeah most of this is just fans making unconfirmed connections.
