That wasn't the kind of actual testing such a project would actually have.
I'm reminded of how, according to the engineer running it, the very first test of the Disneyworld monorail was (paraphrased) Walt Disney pushing Richard Nixon on board without the Secret Service and telling the engineer "I'm sure it'll be fine, just go."

I remember footage of this on an episode of Walt Disney Presents, where the narrator clearly identifies him as Vice-President Nixon.
It wouldn't have been Walt since he died five years before WDW opened.
That would be because I misspoke. It was the Disneyland monorail.
The event in question happened in 1959, about seven years before Walt died, back when Nixon was VP.

Well, now I know what I want to see on Alternate History Hub at some point. There was already an episode
about "What if Big Bird died aboard the Challenger?", so they can totally do this too.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryThis version of Weekend at Bernie's would be very crazy.

I just wanna say that I completely forgot, Nixon was a VP beforehand.
Like creepy stories? Check out my book!
Frankly (heh..) I was completely unaware "Ben and Me" was a thing before he and the mouse showed up in Once Upon a Studio. Apparently it was based on a book, which also was part of a serious about historical figures.

The thing is, that was a PR demonstration to show off to the people bankrolling the project.
That wasn't the kind of actual testing such a project would actually have.
If it was a real test behind closed doors they wouldn't have had a problem with shutting it down the moment they saw something unusual. Krei allowed it to continue anyway because it was a show for the investors.

Disgusted, but not surprised
