Bumping. (BTW, Embarrassing Last Name got launched, even though I think it's covered by Unfortunate Name.)
It looks like there is no consensus for the new name. Should we brainstorm for more ideas?
Mocked Moniker is at 17:8, which passes the 2:1 rule. The only question is if the result is stable.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.@76: Given that monicker, by its definition, is just a synonym for "name or nickname", wouldn't Mocked Monicker effectively mean the same thing as Unfortunate Name?
BTW, I want to change my vote, but for some reason, the option keep on saying that the name does not match... how do I make the change?

Well, the "Mocked" part at least shows it's in-universe. And "Monicker" is an improvement because it almost exclusively refers to a fake name or nickname. Which, admittedly, aren't always self-chosen but it's still more clear.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Bumping. Rigth now, the crowner is:
- Mocked Moniker: 18/10 yea/nay.
- Atrocious Alias: 13/7 yea/nay.
Bump.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI did the rename and moved all of the subpages, as well as the indices. Too tired to do any wick cleanup right now.
Macron's notesI did A-B of Fail O Sucky Name. 547 wicks remain.
I don't think the Real Life section is needed. Most if not all of the examples are organizations, sports teams, towns, etc... not bad aliases or fake names people chose for themselves.
Also, judging by the last few pages of this thread this trope is going to be restricted to "in-universe", like Unfortunate Names, right?
Macron's notesThe current page quote doesn't quite fit the trope.
"Gay Ghost" is hardly an atrocious or "laughable" alias in itself. Campy maybe, but that's it. The funny part comes from the fact that the character was not gay, his alias just suffered from Have a Gay Old Time. But none of that is explained in the page quote.
What would be a better quote? Anything. I personally like the Ant-Man quote from the trope's Quote page:
->Yellowjacket: Do you think you can stop the future? You're just a thief!
->Scott: No, I'm Ant-Man.
->Yellowjacket: [speechless]
->Scott: I know, wasn't my idea.

Should Fail O Sucky Name be made into a disambiguation? With 500~ inbounds it's obviously not going to be cut, but redirecting it to Atrocious Alias is not quite right either given that it will still be confused for Unfortunate Name with a title that sounds like a clone for Awesome McCoolname.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"
Crown Description:
How should we fix the trope and related pages? Fail O Suckyname is often mixed with Unfortunate Name. Fail O Suckyname is supposed to be a subtrope of Unfortunate Name that only applies to a superhero's chosen name, or if a character willingly chooses an ugly name.

I think Embarrassing Nickname implies two things just by its name that's different: A nickname is generally given to you by others, not chosen yourself. It's about it being embarrassing. That is, the target thinks the name is embarrassing, rather than other people mocks her for it.
