It gets kinda boring because you never get any new abilities. The optimal strategy stays the same at all points in the game, so battles are mostly just repetitive.
Now that you mention it, how do abilities and levelling work? Don't you upgrade the weapons themselves or something?
Unlike most of Tri Ace's JRPGs, the game has no learning curve. You're instantly thrown into deep water. The battle system is fairly complex and kinda frustrating at times, but it is unique.
The story is...well, it starts off slow, with our trio just doing odd jobs around town. The setting is a nice post apocalyptic steampunk tower. The first four or so chapters are just their daily lives with only hints at their mysteries. Getting to the bottom of things takes time.
It has this scene:
I have the game...I haven't beaten it though not cus im stuck just cus i haven't gotten back to it.
Also if you reach chapter five there is a way to break the economy of the game so money won't be an issue from that point on......just a tip.
Isn't there a thread for this already?
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."Yeah.
I wanted to play this one a lot when it came out, to show support. Now I'd have to get it used to play it at all (I always seem to do this with Sega's products).
When I put the title in the forum title search box it didn't come up. Thanks.
That vid up there kind of sold me on the game. Lol Vash is awesome.

HD edition announced for PS4 and PC!
Have we reached some weird timeline where obscure and obtuse JRP games are getting remastered?
Between this and The Last Remnant I know nothing anymore.
Super Butter Buns has good videos on those games.
JRP Gs (And Japanese games in general) have had a a major comeback in terms of critical and commerical reception over the past couple of years, so I see it as the publishers seeing a chance to reintroduce people to games that they might have missed out on during Japan's gaming dark age last gen.
Watch SymphogearI keep telling y'all that Neptunia was a game changer. All this shit started when that game, and its sequels - which by no means should have ever been expected to hit western shores - came out over here. I figure publishers saw that and realized if something like Neptunia can "make it" in the west, surely something less weeb-y looking (for lack of a better term) can find success.
And now the game that most people only know for that cutscene about meat and grapes or whatever is getting an HD re-release.
To pity someone is to tell them "I feel bad about being better than you."
Resonance Of Fate was a JRPG that was released back in 2010, and I'm interested in getting it. I didn't even know it existed until seeing the characters in Project X Zone, figure it got little buzz since SEGA was the publisher lol. Though, admittedly the game is sort of a niche title, being a non-Square JRPG, and on top of that having a sort of odd battle system that's a bit more strategy based(and thus slow for most western gamers at least) and being sort of Nintendo Hard from what I hear. I'm wondering if anybody here has played it and what are their thoughts?
Here's a little gameplay video to show some of the battles. I think the battle system looks pretty cool, though the running animations look awkward lol.
