A spoken mondegreen. In the first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, when I was 8, I misheard Shark's line "You're about to take a serious blast of damage!" (this may not be a direct quote, but it's close enough) as "You're about to take a serious blast of damnit!"
Now, the misheard line makes no sense, and there is no way a line like that could have gotten past the overly strict censors, so I have no idea why I heard that. Then again, I remember as a kid whenever I'd watch a movie on DVD I'd always ask to have subtitles on. I would always say "sometimes I can't hear it right", but the real reason was because I worried I mishear stuff as swearing. So who knows, maybe I have countless examples of this sort of spoken mondegreen
EDIT: I forgot, not too long before that, I misheard "Zeus' Breath" as "Zuzu's Breath." Doesn't sound very threatening to me

—signature not found—@Mike K Does that mean you thought “Come Out and Play” was about school bullies instead of school shootings?
Sorry, just had to ask. Lemme lighten things up:
“Ooh-wee-yooh, I look just like Buddy Hottie!”
“Oh-oh and you’ll marry Tyler Moore!”

The actual line: "A heartbeat for a tin man"
What I thought it was: "A heart ache for a demon"
I can't say goodbye to yesterday…I must be more tired than I thought. I just read “Top Story” as “Toy Story.” XD ^_^;;
Heaven is a tropical rainforest.Another Yu-Gi-Oh! related one, although this time from an actual song. In Hyperdrive, the opening song in the dub version of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds, I misheard "I can hear you breathing, I can see you coming, I can feel the wind" as "I can't hear you breathing, I can't see you coming, I can't feel the wind"
I had literally only seen two episodes of 5Ds as a kid since back then I could never start actually watching a show, and this is still a problem now. As a result, I didn't hear it enough to realize I was hearing it wrong.
—signature not found—In “Elmo’s Song”, when Big Bird says “Sing it, Mr. S!” to Snuffy, my young self misheard it as “Sing it, Mr. Hemps!” before I even knew what hemp is!
One time, when I went with my kindergarten or Grade 1 class to a swimming pool, I thought of myself as Mr. Hemps. I imagined that I had a device called a Hempsonator (I think) which would help me avoid a certain someone who I thought I was afraid of but was actually excited to see. It’s a long story that I will explain later on another forum.

Are we human, or are we dancer?Komm Susser Tod: "I wish that I could turn back time / 'Cause now the guilt is all mine" —> "I wish that I could turn back time / 'Cause now the gift is all mine"
"I didn't know you could read!" - Draco, in another timelineUp until reading the captions of the revival series, I thought that the last line of the Animaniacs theme song was "Knows all the facts", not "Those are the facts". "Animaniacs knows all the facts" is grammatically incorrect but I think I figured they were saying that the show itself "knows all the facts", not that the characters do.
Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.Hearing Mr. Blue Sky as a kid, I had not one, but two mishearings. The first was "please tell us why you had to hide away for so long", which I heard as "please tell us why you had to hide away for solo." Probably doesn't make much sense, but does any mishearing make sense? The second was that robot voice at the end that says "please turn me over" (which actually didn't scare me at all even as a kid), which I heard as another instance of "Mr. Blue Sky, why?"

Kumatora needs to be appreciated more. Appreciate her.I can’t be the only one who misheard “to save me from tears” in “Last Christmas” as “the semi-frontier”.
Intended lyrics to the chorus of Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel: "Make Me Smile"
Or do what you want, runnin' wild
What I heard for the longest time:
I'll do what you want, I don't mind
Heard this song from the 2nd season of Hilda and figured looking it up. The song is called "New Kid" by Ex Hex. I've been listening to it for a while now since today, and from looking up the lyrics just now, I turned out to have misheard one of the lyrics I thought as the more meaningful lyrics:
What I heard:
What the lyrics say:
But I still like the lesson that I heard with the former despite it being a mondegreen. On a personal level, the lesson I see is "dabble in anything long enough and you'll become it, so watch out."
Islam is perfect. Muslims are not. But when people see Islam, they're more often looking at the Muslims rather than Islam's sources.Going through this thread I realized just how many Disney songs I misheard as a kid. XD
The Protomen enhanced my life. The ending of Thanos Beatbox Solo:
Actual lyrics: "Either way, destiny still arrives."
What I hear: "By the way, Destiny's still alive."
I don't know who I thought Destiny was. I guess I assumed it was some DC character who I didn't know about. Maybe someone who Darkseid tried to kill and failed. :P

I can't think of a good signature, so here's my favorite OST from the Sam & Max franchise.I've been listening to a bunch of Cheap Trick and I was reminded of one I had the first time I listened to "California Man" - "Dance right on 'til your bones are breakin'" instead of "...'til the floors are breakin'". Somehow I liked my version better - greatly injuring yourself while dancing somehow seems more "hardcore" than just causing property damage.
Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage. Was looping Castle of Glass by Linkin Park and clicked the lyrics button on Spotify out of curiosity. It's entirely possible there are more lyrics I heard wrong, maybe not.
Hardly anything there for you to see -> Hardly anything left for you to see
Honestly the way I heard it seems to fit in more with my current state/train of thought or something. The word 'left' suggest having a significant amount of yourself lost. But maybe 'there' instead implyingly questions the existence of that piece of self in the first place.
Islam is perfect. Muslims are not. But when people see Islam, they're more often looking at the Muslims rather than Islam's sources. The following paragraph is similar to a post from kablammin45 on Page 6:
When I was a toddler watching The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, I misheard the last word of Roo’s line “Look Momma, look! A kite!” in the worst possible way. However, I knew what he meant, so I just thought he was saying “kite” in a funny way, and I don’t think I ever revealed my mishearing to anyone.
In the same movie, there were other lines that I just couldn’t understand. For example, I heard Gopher’s line “I work strictly cash,” as “(?) birthday catch.”
Are we human, or are we dancer? There's one of Waluigi's Mario Kart 8 lines I kept hearing as "Oh my god!" I suspected that wasn't the actual line, so I tried listening more closely... and realized it's actually something like "Off I go!" (though looking up his Mario Kart lines, "Here we go!" is the closest one listed)

Just a funny lil alien guyFor some reason I just heard “Wavy Ocean” as “Waving Elsa.” XD ^_^;;
Heaven is a tropical rainforest. Not me , but my dad always misheard the song "You Fill Up My Senses" (by, I believe, Simon & Garfunkel) as "You Fill Up My Sad Sads."
Data is imaginary. This burrito is real.
In Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me”, I heard the phrase “radar phone” as “red iPhone”, but I knew that couldn’t be it.
Also, in Poison’s “Nothing but a Good Time”, I heard the phrase “like my fun” as “lock my phone”.
Now, a bonus from my childhood:
When people, especially Pa Grape in the VeggieTales video “The Star of Christmas”, would say “ready as I’ll ever be”, I had no idea what a “leverbee” was!
