Discussion of religion in the context of LGBTQ+ rights is only allowed in the LGBTQ+ Rights and Religion Thread
.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

Kind of funny how he says he has no friends in the media and yet one of our big newspapers is publishing this.
DumboI see this wasn't posted already: India court recognises transgender people as third gender
. From the same Supreme Court that did reinstall a sodomy law a while ago.
I mean like...non-binary gender is okay to them, but same-sex relationships they have to stamp out? Usually in the West people with a vendetta against sexual minorities are even more unreasonable towards gender minorities. Having trouble wrapping my brain around the thought process here.

Remember that highest courts don't just get to choose based on their personal opinions or logic. They normally have to e.g. be mindful of the prerogatives of the legislature vs. the courts, and if I remember right, the previous gay decision was more like 'This is the clear intent of the law, it's the legislature's job to fix it if it needs fixing'.
A brighter future for a darker age. Also, the subcontinent has a culture that actually has accepted the possibility of more than two genders for centuries (with varying degrees of coverage). Technically, if you're in a relationship with a third-gendered... it isn't a same-sex relationship.
Whatever the plumbing involved.

It may also be different judges who wrote the winning decision.
Confirmed, it was, and the sodomy ruling is going to a five judge panel.

DumboUK ranked top in Europe for LGBT rights for the third year in a row.
We got 82%! Predictably, the Russians came last, with a measly 6%. LGBT rights improved in 18 out of 28 EU member states as well as, encouragingly, in prospective members Serbia and Montenegro.

Schild und Schwert der ParteiRussia got its score for managing to provide "Medically assisted insemination (singles)" "trans people can marry a person of the other gender" in the family category and "name change" "change of gender on official documents to match gender identity" "no compulsory surgical intervention required" in the legal gender recognition category.
It's pretty much impossible, as you'd need to have "marriage equality", "registered partnership (similar rights to marriage)" and "registered partnership (limited rights)" across all parts of your country. Though the UK is pretty close to getting as high as you can, it's just lacking laws on "equality and non-discrimination" for gender expression" and "intersex", tougher hate speech laws, marriage equality in all parts, law on asylum based on gender identity, full lack of compulsory divorce in the event of gender transition, and the removal of the requirement for a medical diagnosis/psychological option for gender transition.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranOn a positive note though, 26 countries have improved on LGBT rights, and 17 have stayed the same, while only six have scored lower, which means, for the most part, things are moving in the right direction.
Unfortunately, my own country was one of the six that went down. DX
It's funny to see how much better LGBT rights get the further west you go.
