^ This is just pathetic. Two magnets don't attract on the same time, ergo gay marriage is wrong. This is in Nigeria, BTW.

Did anyone actually manage to follow his mathematical "proof" or was it, as I concluded, mindless drivel?

I mean the first two arguments were fairly sound on the science side, just irrelevant, and the biology one "animals don't do it" which is just not true, but the mathematics just seemed completely incoherent.

I did read his mathematical proof. Let's just say that he's assuming A is A instead of |A|, with no proof.

Pretty sure it was mindless drivel. Then again, I'm not exactly the best person to ask when it comes to maths.

I got as far as "A + A = A, except it doesn't but we're ignoring multipliers" and I was just "what?".

Counterargument in kind: Oxygen is widespread and essential to life. It goes around in molecules of two identical atoms. Therefore, gay relationships etc. are fine.

Extending such things: Water molecules prove that polygamy is a-okay too.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I personally miss Boris Yeltsin. He'd never let things go this far. R.I.P. you chubby bastard.

One could argue that if Yeltsin hadn't handled the transition between the Soviet Union and Russian Federation so badly Russia wouldn't have been in such a mess that Putin became popular in the first place.

Also, Yeltsin's record on LGBT rights sucked pretty badly as well. He legalised homosexuality, but only under heavy pressure from the Council of Europe, and it was under Putin's government that it was removed from the Russian list of mental disorders.

There's also the socioeconomic side of things. Bigotry tends to be directly correlated with economic uncertainty and inequality, and Yeltsin was directly responsible for the rise of the oligarchs and the skyrocketing gap between rich and poor.

What's precedent ever done for us?

Yep. Yeltsin really shouldn't be missed by anyone. It's a lot easier to see why 2000s-2010s Russia is the way it is when you look at what it was in the 1990s.

The magnet thing makes sense.

After all, when you have two magnets that are repelling each other, all you have to do to get them together is flip one of them around...
