.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

But it's the kind of things that idiot executives would do because capitulating is the cheap option. It's not them going "we hate queer people now" it's them going "we don't want to spend millions of dollars on securing a display that's around for a single month in the face of a very large number of bomb threats where we have no idea which ones are real or not and making a bad call once can lead to an entire store getting ruined and who knows how many people getting hurt or killed."
It sucks, but it's one of those situations where any security person worth a damn would tell Target to just take down the displays. Especially since they got dozens of bomb threats aimed at tons of locations around the country.

Corporate support for LGBT was always shallow at best as many if not most continued to financially support anti LGBT politicians and policies. Not to mention how theyll remain silent about or actively censor LGBT in countries where it isn't profitable. The point of pride is that queerness shouldn't be hidden and that just spits in the face of it.
I'm not going to say it isn't concerning how they're withdrawing support but as a bisexual I'd rather they call me the f slur than pretend to be my friend, take my money and stab me in the back with it.
I'm reminded of a video I recently saw from gay video essayist James Somerton that deals with the increasing corporatization of Pride:
He notes that Pride originated as a form of protest to incentivize the more moderate parts of the queer community to become more politically active and highlight the inequalities that existed among them, but that while it's great that being gay/lesbian/bisexual is more acceptable these days, it's also become overly sanitized in the wake of most states increasing their pressure against all queer folk, not just trans punching bags. Essentially the rainbow capitalism has gone off the rails in the last few years.
Italian prosecutor demands cancellation of birth certificates for lesbian couples
The prosecutor of Padua Valeria Sanzari has demanded the cancellation of 33 birth certificates, dating as far back as 2017, of children born from lesbian couples. Precisely, she asked to remove the name of the member of the couple which is not the biological mother.
To have some context: in Italy same sex civil unions (not yet marriages) were legalized in 2016, but the law do not allows same sex couples to adopt. However, the law is unclear about the biological offpring of one member of the couple, so some courts have ruled in favor of same sex couples to adopt each other's children. Public officials in many italian cities have registered birth certificates with two mothers listed since then.
Now the government has issued a declaration which considers these registrations illegal, and the prosecutor of Padua started a legal case asking to retroactively cancel the birth certificates issued since 2017. If she succeeds, this means that one of the mothers will not have parental rights any more. If the member of the couple who is the biological mother dies, for example, the child will be considered an orphan and the other mother will not be given their custody.
(Right now, I'm hating my country).
So we’ve found out what happens when the Gender Critical crowd doesn’t have the Neo Nazis to back them up.
‘Gender-critical’ activists attempted to protest a Primark in Lincoln. Two people showed up
On Sunday (18 June), around 200 counter-protestors gathered to oppose the anti-trans campaign outside the city’s Primark at midday.
The poorly attended anti-trans event was inspired by Kellie-Jay Keen, also known as Posie Parker, and arranged to protest Primark’s Pride campaign which celebrates “found families”.
TERFs are very good at making themselves look bigger and stronger than they really are (usually being confined to forums and social media where they can create sockpuppets and lie freely), but being cripplingly-paranoid bigots who know full well how repugnant their views are even among other conservatives, they can't put up, so they usually just shut up. Mercifully for the rest of humanity.
...now if only one of them wasn't a billionaire.

Yeah I... genuinely dunno where you got that idea about it being "seen as acceptable", aside from preexisting harmful stereotypes about exactly that being commonplace that come from a homophobic PoV in the first place.
🏳️⚧️she/her | Vio Rhyse AlberiaI have to echo the others, that is not something that's actually a thing. Maybe some piece of media somewhere featured it but that isn't a problem in real life.

"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangWell... I remember a case in a social network called Orkut(now extinct) where someone in a pro-LGBT community said they heard a man saying to his wife: "this guy is gay", and then someone commented that if it happened to him, he'd react by saying: "Why yes, I am. Wanna have a menage a trois?". And no one batted an eye at that comment.
But yeah, I wasn't being rational when I posted the now-edited out post.
"Oh, did I win?"Speaking of the harmful stereotypes about LGBT community, here's a fun fact that some of you probably already know:
One of the first pioneeers of 20th study and acceptance was a German physian/sexologist Magnus Hirschfeld (a really kickass name, if I may say), who was also, by his own description, a Jewish homosexual.
Unsurprisingly, the Nazis revoked his citizenship and his books were actually among the very first books to be destroyed by Nazi book burnings. Hirschfeld was forced to flee to France where he died of heart attack in 1935.
So, yeah. The link between persecution of LGBT community and fascism, including the accusations of depravity and corruption of youth, has a long history, to say the least.
Continuously reading, studying, and (hopefully) growing. The destruction of the Institute is a legitimate parallel to the destruction of the Great Library of Alexandria, there were a ton of texts that weren't copied anywhere else and there's a lot we don't even have a surviving list of. We don't really know how much knowledge was destroyed beyond "a lot, at least some of which we might not have rediscovered yet".
The pillaging of the House of Wisdom is probably a better comparison. The Great Library's destruction was less dramatic and comprehensive than its legend claims.
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NO

It's also worth noting that stuff like Target removing pride displays? It's because they kept getting bomb threats. You can't really just ignore that.
You can't ignore it but you certainly don't have to do what they did. Bring law enforcement in, have permanent security, and so on. There are actions that can be taken if a major corporation wants to smack down on extremists, after all they do it against the left all the time.
Capitulating to terrorists wasn't the only option they had available to them.
