Should we take that as an indication that we should start boning up on tactics for defeating those generals? :P

For those of you who missed it, this is the discussion thread. Y'all can talk and think and work out who is doing what at your school while I pretend I know what I'm doing in making a floating city-school.

Decided I have a better idea than Tadakatsu.

  • Name: Maya Hattori.
  • Warlord: Hanzou Hattori.
  • Wisp: Looks like this guy's mask.
  • Age: 17.
  • Appearance: Fourth girl on the right.
  • Magical Girl Appearance: Herpaderp.
  • History: Maya was just another normal girl. She was a pretty good dancer, but nothing more. Then a mask-like spirit decided it was for the best to bump into her head. At first, she vehemently rejected the dreams of shadows, darkness and death she began to have, as well as her floating companion. When some of the other Wisp-contacted girls disappeared, though, Maya began to research the name that always echoed in her head after her strange dreams. When the school contacted her parents, she relented and went to it, deciding that she ought to study her powers, at the very least. That was two years ago, and now she's pretty much used to the school, though her powers still feel a bit weird to her.
  • Attribute: Earth.
  • Weapon Type: Melee (Kusarigama).
  • Abilities:
    • Assassin: +1 damage against enemies in fortified positions.
    • Knowledge of the Iga Province: +1 defence while on mountainous (hilly) terrain.
    • Ninjutsu: By forsaking Phase Two for the turn, Maya can move up to 1.5 times her normal movement rate.

Argh. Is weapon type the one that they are most known for or the one that they use the most often? Cause I'd like to use Odysseus, and his most famous weapon is the bow that he used to kill the suitors, but he explicitly never takes it to war, and for most of the Odyssey he's in melee combat. So which should I pick?

You can't use Odysseus anyway because he's a mythological figure. Gotta pick a real person. :P

I assume that like most Greek Warriors he used a lance and a large shield (Hoplite stuff). But:

Some ground rules for selecting your historical figure. No legendary or mythological figures, no crazed mass murdering dictators from the last 100 years, and they have to have been dead for at least 20 years. I reserve the right to deny a leader for reason other than the already listed if I feel their inclusion would be detrimental to the game.
EDIT: Ninja'd.

Well, Frell. And I guess that rules out Maccabee too, so... Jeanne d'Arc, even though I don't have that much historical knowledge on her.

I don't think detailed historical knowledge is really that necessary. After all, you aren't playing that person, just someone influenced by them. For example, my character is influenced by Alaric, who was a Goth. Don't bother trying to explain to her the difference between the historical goths and the way she dresses, though.

Maya Hattori is accepted, though I suggest change your first ability to just fortified enemies instead of leaders since that actually seems too conditional.

Movement: 6

@Knowledge of leader: If certainly helps if you know something about your guy, but it isn't necessary. If nothing else, you can learn something to give your abilities cool names. And your character doesn't have to know anything at all besides the name. My character, soon coming, knows absolutely nothing about the guy whose memories she has aside from a single quote she uses as an excuse to be stupid.

And suddenly, someone who doesn't have an Earth element:

  • Name: Takano Akane
  • Warlord: Yamamoto Isoroku (Born Takano Isoroku)
  • Wisp: A red sphere with a white glow behind it, as well coming out from the center that vary with the wisp's state The effect I'm going for. Also has little white eyes.
  • Age: 17
  • Appearance: [1]
  • Magical Girl Appearance: The above in a stylized Imperial Japanese Navy uniform, with a long overcoat, mounted with this equipment.
  • History: Akane was an ordinary Japanese schoolgirl before the "incident." She was generally considered a quiet and kind person, her most notable trait being that she rather enjoyed games and contests of wit. Akane, who was a fairly good student, realized very quickly whose memories she was dreaming about. If asked about how she feels, she will mention that it is an honor to the memories of one her homeland's greatest commanders, while inwardly she is more mixed. Since the "wisping" people have noticed that she seems more tired, reserved and pensive. Akane has also been noted to have taken to reading political international relations reports much more often as of late.

Japan, eager as ever to try and prove that they are worthy of a permanent seat on the UN Security council, sent Akane to the offshore academy as soon as it opened. The government has also on multiple occasions made pushes for her to change her surname to "Yamamoto."

  • Attribute: Water
  • Movement: 5 (8 on water)
  • Weapon Type: Carrier Air Wing (A group of A6M-looking attack drones) - Long Range
  • Abilities:
    • Offensive: Port Strike: +1 when attacking coastal targets.
    • Defensive: Fighter Screen: -1 to attacks when attacked by air units so long as the Akane's air wing is close by (see below).
    • Utility: Long Range Air Strike: Can attack targets 4-6 hexes away, but the attack requires 1 turn to travel there, and one turn to return (Hits at the start of the 2nd turn, and Akane cannot attack again until the 3rd). Attacks in the 2-3 range are executed normally.

NOTE: NOW AN NPC

  • Name: Lily d'Arc
  • Warlord: Joan of Arc
  • Wisp: A small, fluffy creature that looks sorta birdlike if you squint at it, named Orleans.
  • Age: 16
  • Appearance: Something like this
  • Magical Girl Appearance': [1]
  • History: Lily was a rather normal, albeit nerdy, 16-year-old girl. She had fairly good grades, but nothing that far out of average range. She had a pretty normal childhood, a small circle of friends. Most of that got screwed up when a bird-thing ran headlong into her, uh, head. When she woke up, she had the memories of the long-dead Maid of Orleans bouncing around in her head. She sleeping badly, getting visions of 'saints' (though luckily they stayed in her dreams). Eventually she and her parents decided to send her to the school.

  • Attribute: Earth
  • Movement: 6
  • Weapon Type: Melee - sword
  • Abilities: (These should reflect something about Warlord)
    • Offensive: Sudden Aggression: +1 when attacking a fortress
    • Defensive: Siege of Orleans: -1 when she is in a fortified hex
    • Utility: Loire River - Lily and her adjacent allies can treat structures near water tiles as fortified for two turns

Takano Akane:

Accepted.

Water Attribute Effects: Treats Water as Clear terrain. -1 Movement. +2 Movement on Water and Beach. +1 to attacks from Water.

Movement: 5 (8 on Beach or Water)

Lily d'Arc:

The latter two abilities are somewhat unclear. Does besieging mean when Lily herself is on a fort? Does it mean when she is defending on her turn?

Loire River says allies. Does this mean adjacent allies?

Acceptance pending elaboration.

Just realized I left something ambiguous; I intended that normal strikes (2-3 range) occur as normal 1-per turn attacks. The only attacks that take longer are longer-range strikes. Is that still acceptable, or would you prefer all attacks have the time delay?

I didn't imagine it as otherwise. You're fine, your normal attacks will will take one turn as usual.
