I just watched the pilot.
And so far it's looking pretty good. The characters all seem like fun, the plot seems to be held pretty well in place and overall it's looking to be a great addition to the MCU.
Though I wonder is this series held after Iron Man 3 or before it? Considering the role Extremis plays.
Seems like after, because before Iron Man 3 I don't think many, if any, people knew was it was.
Has to be after. If S.H.I.E.L.D. knew about Extremis turning people into bombs before Iron Man 3, they would have been all over A.I.M. like a pack of dogs on a paraplegic rabbit. There wouldn't have been enough left of Aldrich Killian to move the plot in the first place.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I've yet to see a Whedon pilot that wasn't various stock characters — for the sake of argument we're only talking about the first half of Serenity, the Firefly premier.
And, of course, this was hamstrung by introducing as many characters as that pilot in half the time. I'm willing to cut it a great deal of slack, both because of that and because ABC has a lot of money riding on this and are playing conservatively as a result.
Also, kind of structurally hamstrung at this point. The pilot was paced well, but suffered from structural problems. It got a little messy, and lacked an emotional throughline. It's not really "about" anything — the narrative should probably have been Skye's introduction to the world of SHIELD, but she gets pushed to the outside so that the episode can have that extra structure twist. Fun, but I think it hurt the episode.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet. They had a large-ish cast and 45 minutes to show them off and introduce the arc of Not-Gunn, so I'm not surprised it was a bit badly paced. Heck, when Melinda May got her ass kicked, the first thing I thought was "it's still the pilot, and she has yet to do something competent, it will come soon..." and it did!
Read my stories!@Gabriel The Third:
It's the first episode. They had only 40-45 minutes to try and introduce all of these characters while still having a plotline. I have all confidence that, now that that's been gotten out of the way, they'll take the time to delve further into the characters, hopefully giving one or two characters the spotlight at a time.
Accela: I thought she did well when interacting with not-gunn, as she seems like she was written to be over confident and a bit full of herself, but not in a way that the universe agrees with her.
Read my stories!I quite enjoyed the pilot, eh wot.
I had heard about the interrogation scene ahead of time but it was still funny.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI liked it! Looking forward to next week's episode. Between this, Sleepy Hollow, Arrow, The Walking Dead and Elementary, I'm all set with tv shows I'm gonna be watching for the time being.

Skye is a fish out of water who spent the last few years telling herself that she can walk just fine, it's no big deal, and is now having to discover what being out of water actually entails. I like her because her attitude is justified and unjustified at the same time. She's confident in her skills, which she should be because her skills are impressive, but she's sorely underestimated everyone else and is now learning what it actually looks like on the inside.
She's a typical, "The government is bad and everyone involved with it is bad. I could do better if I had the power!" rebel without a cause, who is now going to have to put her money where her mouth is. I look forward to seeing where she goes from here.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersAt first, I thought Fitz and Simmons were supposed to be the two from Item 47, but it quickly became apparent that they're actually the engineers Kenneth and Gabby from Mass Effect.

I thought SWORD was a division of SHIELD or something to that effect.
