Uh guys...
Yeah. Let's move on to a topic more befitting the short. Anyone have any favorite background ponies characters or fan characters?

Seth Rogan House. :D :D
Well Akko's the main character and the heroine, so she'd be Gryffinder by title.
That's exactly why we need to subvert that and make her a Hufflepuff. But I thought we were supposed to not be derailing into Harry Potter any more (for at least another page).
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Okay, I may be used to the Touhou thread, but I think talking about which Hoggy House they'd fit in is analysing the characters of the show, and thus on-topic.
Check out my fanfiction!Which is annoying because not every magical school or character that goes to one needs to be compared to Hogwarts.
Eh, Hufflepuff is so underdeveloped though, it doesn't really deserve rehabilitation. It's essentially just the house for those who aren't loyal, intelligent, or cunning.
The show owes a lot to Harry Potter though.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.No it doesn't. It makes references to a lot of things but it doesn't owe anything to any of the stuff it references.
Diana is totally a genderbent Draco Malfoy, for one.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.It also had a few references to Lord of the Rings.
Check out my fanfiction! It has a Sorcerer's Stone.
But it's so obviously influenced by HP, no one is being angry or accusing Trigger of being unoriginal, it's just not hard to notice. It's like saying that Quentin Tarantino doesn't owe anything to the exploitation films that influence his work.
And that's why it references other things more right?
x4
No she's not.
It's about a school that teaches magic, has a broom riding class, the lead has two good friends, one who is a mix of Ron and Hermione, involves them getting into trouble and taking down a monster together. Plus a snooty blonde rival (though I agree that Diana doesn't have that much in common with Draco beyond the surface stuff). Shockingly, people might be reminded of a popular franchise.
Also the fact that it references other stuff doesn't somehow invalidate the comparison.
Seriously it's so weird that you're annoyed by this.

I don't see it. None of the stuff you pointed out is unique to any one source and the comparisons don't even fit. I find them just as annoying as I do any other unneeded comparisons.
It is pretty obvious that people would compare this to Harry Potter. The show's creators must have foreseen this. (Thirded that Diana is not Draco. She's better than that!)
Also Hufflepuff is best house.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Just because they would doesn't mean they should.
Also Ravenclaw is best house.
For once we agree.
How does one go from flashy stage magician to stuffy academy teacher? There's got to be a story there, given her surprise to how the staff was glowing again.

For that matter, why was her wand hidden in the academy building? ....and how did SHE KNOW THAT??
She is probably the one who hid it because it stopped glowing.
Maybe she had a Creator Breakdown and had enough.
Diana is shown to be nicer than Draco in the end, yeah, but up to that point she was definitely playing that role to the trio.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Well, there were hints that she was actually nice.
Check out my fanfiction!
Okay, so she's kind of Gryffindor, but...but Hufflepuff needs publicity.
I also don't know who Seth Rogen is.
